My Progress Thus Far: Challeges and Tribulations

My progress thus far has been one of decision making and direction. I have an established website that was run by another company that went defunct. It is now mine and I'm deciding on the direction to take it. Getting back into the admin page and submitting articles has been challenging to say the least. Divi editing is a system that I am not familiar with. There is a huge learning curve.

The niche I am working with is the 50+ age group. The website is called thriveafter50.com. I am narrowing it down to health and wellness, travel, and personal growth...especially on the creative side of things. I am a life-long photographer and hope to encourage others to find their own creative outlet and passion in life.

Thus far, I cannot say I am proud of what I have produced thus far. I plan on becoming more productive soon. Creating content is tough since I am such a perfectionist. I hope to let go of that the longer I continue doing this.

My plans and goals for the next 3 months is to learn the "back-end" of the website, create content (at least one article per week to begin with), and get my website set up for success. I hope to be making at least $100.00/month by the end of April 2022.

My plans and goals for the next 6 months is to continue creating content, over 2 articles each week, and create trust within people. I hope to continue to teach, inspire and mentor those who have lost direction and purpose in this last, and best, half of life.

Thank you Jeff. Sometimes the learning curve is so tough! I am determined though to create success however long it takes. I will not give up...

You have the best attitude that one can have, Glenn! That is why you WILL succeed, my friend!

You have been very busy and have a realistic goal here.

Since you have an established site already, have you been following your traffic and most read pages or posts. Can I assume you have Google Analytics and Google Search console installed? If not I would do that first before writing more content because this will give you an idea what type of content you could be focusing on first. because now your site is addressing so many topics. It is true that your site is all about over 50s life, but if I wanted to know more about exercise after 50 your site may not give me enough help so I will leave it and look else where.
Google ranks sites well that focus on a specific topic and do it comprehensively.

We can tell you like photography you have several interesting pictures.

Cheers as you move forward and Cheers to reaching your April goal.

Thank you for your feedback. To be honest I'm not sure if I have Google Analytics and Google Search console installed. Is there a way to check? I apologize for my ignorance but another company handled this site for years. I'm in the process of revamping it all and getting all users of the old company out of the files.

My guess is they are not and even if they were you won't have a sign in to see the results.

You look at your site in a browser right click using your mouse and do a view source. Do a control "f" for the words "google-site-verification" they will close close to the top. of the page.

Hi - I notice that on your profile that you have had this site for 6 to 7 years, and yet, when I ran it through the Ubersuggest tool, you are not ranking for any keywords on page 1 of Google.

And unless you are on page 1, you will not attract traffic or make any money. I suspect the main problem is that Google is confused by your site.

You need to be an authority on a specific, narrow niche to be ranked highly. Although, in your mind, all your categories relate, Google won't see it that way.

Being on the wrong side of 50 myself, I can see what you are trying to do, but Google won't necessarily see a specific age as a niche.

Google will look at the site and ask are you are an authority on food? No, you really only have one article specific to that. How about education? No, only one article on that. Health? Maybe a possibility in the future, as there are several articles.

Ideally, you need to pick one aspect, such as health, and focus on nothing but that for your next 20 articles or so. And as you are a qualified trainer, you can establish your expertise through your own knowledge.

Thank you Diane. Yes, I can understand the confusion that Google would have. The website, along with 700 others, have been tied up in court for the last 18 months (long story). I just received it back within the past couple of months. I do agree that I need to focus on one category to begin, and that category will be health and fitness. My last two articles have been on that and I will continue to build it out. Thank you for your feedback...
