Something Interesting At Webmaster Tools

A couple of weeks back I added a sitemap to my site after watching one of Jay's WAbinars. I was flicking through WMT over the weekend and found a very interesting section in the 'Labs areas'.

Labs is kinda like a the beta test area from WMT. So it is stuff that they are working on
'Webmaster Tools Labs is a testing ground for experimental features that aren't quite ready for primetime. They may change, break or disappear at any time'.

Anyway bearing that in mind one of the test areas is 'Author Stats'. I was pleasantly surprised to find that all of my articles and webpages (where I was added Authorship) show up. The information that Google WMT has included is really helpful to my and has saved me loads of time tracking my stats.

The information that is included is

• Page URL
• Impressions
• Clicks
• CTR % - Click Through Ratio
• Avg Position in Google - pretty accurate

Anyway i thought I would share as this has saved me tracking each page and article separately. I can see at a glance how things are going and investigate anything that seems out of place.

To find the Labs go to
Webmaster Tools ==> Sign In ==> Home page ==> Labs (4th folder down)
