How To Write Like A Master - My Unconventional Top 5 Tips

1. Meditate or go for long walks alone in nature or somewhere quiet: body, mind, and soul need spaciousness in order to expand. Ever felt a huge, deep sigh escape you as soon as you hit the forest, or nature trails, or beach? That's your 'being' saying thank you for giving it room to breathe. Our creativity thrives on this kind of inner and outer space.
2. Rise early and write out 3 pages of longhand - a daily detox: there is no better writing practice that I've come across that can get us so in tune with the motherlode of golden writing than this one. It's the topic of my latest website post.
3. Do a minimum of one thing every single day that brings you joy: if we don't honor that place within that loves to play and feel joy, then we are pretty much squelching the creative life force right out of ourselves. Not a good idea if you want to write well.
4. Nourish your body when you are hungry: I'm so guilty of this, but it's not a good thing to choose writing over nourishment. Never pass up taking care of the very vehicle that allows you to write in the first place. Our body loves to be loved and cared for, so feed it well and regularly with things that make it thrive.
5. Reach out and touch someone: Isolation is a killer. It can kill our creativity and it can kill us from loneliness and depression. Don't let it happen. Connect, connect, connect! And even better, touch someone..even an animal ....physically...hug them, hold their hand, give 'em a big kiss, rub their back. It's a win-win. What you give, you get back, and there's nothing like others to keep our creativity tank full.

If we want to help others with our gifts, we have to nurture and honor what gives life to that gift.
