Dealing with Dyslexia

Dear All, I have been prompted by one of my new friends on here. His name is PeterK77 , and he actually went onto my website www.buildingthebodyandmind.com . My dyslexia caused me to mix the body and mind over. You can directly access the website from My Page.

Peter pointed out a couple of things. Firstly, my paragraphs are too clumped. Have to agree, so I will be spacing my paragraphs out a lot more now.

Secondly he suggested I use my dyslexia and WA as a USP- Unique Selling Point. I had never considered this before now, but now I will. That's what's great about WA. New people like PeterK77 is new, and took the time to write to me and point out some things that can be improved.

People with dyslexia are troubled in different areas. My dyslexia causes me to get very confused about long and wordy paragraphs. Has anyone heard of K.I.S.S.. This stands for Keep It Simple (Stupid!). It works in business, and just means don't over complicate things. The stupid refers to is, hence the brackets.

So for me, I like it short and brief. I'm a visual person, so diagrams, drawing, flow charts work best for me. I get visually confused by too many words.

Has this affected me? Yes and No. I achieved a University degree, but my grades were poor. My dyslexia went undiagnosed for 47 years. School, University all missed my problem. I will never accept that they are to blame, which is so easy to do!

It has affected me, as I could have achieved a better grade at University, and allowed me smoother progress to my professional qualifications, but again No Harm, No Foul. My dyspraxia has also caused other issues. This will be blogged about later on, early next week.

So what does this mean in WA. Well, and this isn't a gripe, but could you please space out your paragraphs a little more. Short and sweet for me, but that just works for me.

I can go at my own pace on WA. I can work through things at my own pace. There is no boss looking over my shoulder, I don't get flustered or rushed. Thank goodness for spell checkers on my Apple Software. A godsend.

I always knew i had intelligence, but my efforts have usually exceeded results. i.e. I have worked my tushy off and have had scant reward. My general knowledge is pretty darn good. I have been called Mr Google.

So please don't think that you are silly, or stupid. I'm proof that this is not the case. WA has shown me that there are people out there you just get you, understand you, and more importantly want you to achieve.

So whether writing or reading, K.I.S.S. It people. Keep it simple.
