Happy Easter 2024, WA!
(Title Image by DALL-E 3)
Hi WA Friends!
Happy Easter, for all those who celebrate it! If you don't, read on (or scroll down) because there's a little surprise at the end of this post for all Rock lovers! Lol
How It All Goes Down With My Family
We've all been at it for days now, cooking and baking everything possible, and sampling things to get everything just right! Everyone has a food preparation category, like appetizers, meat, pasta, etc. My wife likes to make the desserts since she has a bit of a sweet tooth.
You can read about it in my 2023 Happy Easter post:
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/frankb-1/blog/are-you-getting-ready-for-easter
To recap, there's:
1. Good Friday (today!)
Technically speaking, it's a no-meat holiday. We make up for it with a variety of appetizers, veggie pizzas, spinach pies, pasta, and about a zillion Italian desserts. Aside from its religious significance, I've come to think of it as the Easter eating marathon tryouts, where only the strong will make it to round two! Lol
2. Recovery Day (Saturday)
This is the day of rest and plenty of Brioschi (Italian alka-seltzer). It used to come in a blue glass jar, but now it's blue plastic. No matter, it still works ten times better than any other non-alcoholic digestant you can buy!
3. Easter Sunday
The day of food overindulgence reckoning! Haha. It's almost as big a food day as Thanksgiving or Christmas. You can't imagine how much we eat on Easter, and it's a whole-day affair!
Eating begins at breakfast time with rice pies and wandi (Italian fried dough rings with powdered sugar on them). After church (only our "Italian church" will do, Lol), we all get together for the serious eating.
We start the main meal between 1 and 2 PM, have multiple breaks between courses to nap and take short walks, and finish about 9 or 10 PM.
For those those who are on" over-eating death's door," there's Fernet-Branca, a miracle digestant that most people think tastes really awful!
I was brought up drinking it and love the taste. Its actual ingredients have been a. family-guarded secret for generations!I like to drink mine in their official Fernet-Branca alligator glass. Lol
You can mix it with two parts Fernet and one part creme de menthe, to supercharge its medicinal effect.
So, why do we eat this way during the holidays? It's just who we are, and I've enjoyed every minute of it over the years! Lol
It's also Angus Young's Birthday! (March 31, 1955)
Yes, I'm talkin' about the little guy from the band AC/DC who dresses in the schoolboy uniform and plays a Gibson SG guitar through a wall of Marshall amps!
Please enjoy these (DALL-E 3 generated )images (Yup, I just can't help myself)!
The start of a typical ACβ‘οΈDC concert. Angus, doing his thing! Angus struttin' his stuff.Happy Easter; Happy Birthday, Angus π; and ...
Keep on Rockin'! π€

Hahaha! Have a wonderful Easter Frank and take it easy on the cocktails!!
But... what is this about Saturday being a recovery day??
It's the day to ramp up the celebrations in my opinion!!
Rock On buddy!!

Hahaha, Thanks, Nick!
Saturday is my day to recover from all the food I ate on Good Friday! I'm getting too old to eat all that in one go! Lol
I had one glass of red wine and then Β½ of a Mojito last night. Not a good mix for an alcohol lightweight like me, so I was a little foggy this morning. Nothing that an espresso with a shot of Sambuca couldn't fix, Haha! π€£
Happy Easter, Nick, & listen to some Eric Clapton today for his Birthday! π°π€

No days to recover until the Easter period is over for me Frank!!
I've been on the Singapore Slings with mescal on the side most of the day!!
Sambuca!!Haven't tried that for many a year but do have memories of burning my face a bit back in my youth!!
I've already listened to a bit of Cream today and will listen to a bit more later when I regain control of the TV remote from the wife and her sister!!
Rock On buddy!!

I don't think I've ever had a Singapore Sling, Nick.
Sambuca and Anisette are the traditional Italian espresso enhancers. Lol
Have all the fun you can this weekend! π

You don't know what you are missing Frank, Singapore Slings rock!!
I do like the idea of an espresso enhancer though!!
You too my friend!!

Hi Nick
I checked out the Singapore Sling and it looks delicious.
We have all the ingredients, including the Benedictine
Iβll have to try a small one. Stacy loves making new cocktails so weβll give it a go! π
Rock On! π€

Yep they certainly left a wonderful legacy with their music even kids nowadays who play guitar tend to use their riffs and they are very good at it as well.
Goes to show when your music is great you are remembered for years to come even though it isn't in their era.
Happy Easter and Happy Birthday to Angus!
I've always loved his music. ππ΅πΆ πΈ

I recognized the Brioschi bottle. I was introduced to it by my friends when we lived in Italy. My kids grew up getting chocolate Easter eggs with the prize inside, eating Colomba , Pastiera Napoletana( wheat grain pie), casatiello after Lent and going out the Monday after Easter Sunday for the Buona Pasquetta. Christmas was memorable, too. Happy Easter to you and your family and continued happy memories.
Hi Dee
I share all those memories with you from the four years I lived in Florence and Rome!
Such a wonderful time in my life! π

Yes, good times. :)
