Affiliate Marketing should be lucrative right?
The reason I think affiliate marketing can be quite lucrative is that each and every one of us have a passion about something. Writing about something of passion, through posts on a website, can however have its own rewards (before making money).
One of my websites is about my recovery, I have to be (and am) passionate about it because it is what makes me stay recovered. There is no stronger motivation than that :-) ...
One of the tools of my recovery was to write about things. I found that the more I did it, the more things started becoming clear. So the rewards I found through the simple action of writing was clarity and keys that unlocked places inside of me that I didn't even know existed. Writing gives me a conscience and makes me become more honest with myself.
I figure that these simple rewards can go with any subject or niche that one is passionate about and creates a website around, because when we sit to write, quiet our thoughts and listen to our hearts, we know that not only do we want to make a living, but we want to help someone in the process - and quite honestly, unless you are offering some form of honest service, of advice, I don't see you making it. Readers and Google can see right through it.
On this particular site of mine, I haven't even got to the part of affiliate marketing - I am concentrating on writing consistent posts whilst my site ages, getting some form of ranking and then traction in terms of traffic. This is enough for now, and when the subject of my posts honestly creates the opportunity to include some form of affiliate product, only then will it become a focus.
I believe in the long run, it will pay off - both in helping others and in making a living.

You are absolutely right on this, Lauri. As a matter of fact, Google would really not like to see a lot of ads until you have been around a while.
This is especially true of AdSense and other types of similar ads.
But blogging is a tool for providing information, first, so you have the plan down pat!

Thank you. I totally agree, as much as I want this to be my money maker, I also have the need to help others from my struggles.
