How do I get better Page Ratings with Google?

Nowadays, we are almost always left with the option of only Google and Bing to be our primary search engine's to seek ranking towards, with Google giving the most visitors to a ton of websites. This blog gives you some heads-ups on how you can better the standing of your site in the Google search engine.

Bettering your site's standing on the Google Search Engine Grade

Google ranks a page according to a significant amount of aspects. Precisely what these aspects may be are apparently confidential, but there are a lot of well-familiar characteristics that add to the ranking of a page.

Hyperlinks aimed towards Your Website

One of the things that add to a web page being thought of as "significant" is the amount of hyperlinks aimed towards their page. For instance, if your page has 100 good caliber hyperlinks pointing to it, it will be ranked higher (in Google's approximation) than a page that only possesses 20.

But what exactly are "good caliber hyperlinks"? These are hyperlinks from other trending pages, that is, pages that have, themselves, many (good caliber) hyperlinks aiming to them. (Yeah, I know. My interpretation is annular. It's probable that the search engine has other aspects that decide the caliber of a hyperlink.) Anyway, in general, since Google ranks your pages based upon the amount of hyperlinks targeted at your page, your site will be more suitable if it has more hyperlinks aiming at it. Google seems to give mass to the headline of your page. When I say headline, I am referring to the text that is sandwiched amongst the HTML <TITLE> tags in the <HEAD> area of your web page. If you use a Web polisher that naturally places a headline like "New Document", be sure to adjust it to some useful text with your keywords inside to gain the profit of this property. If not, your site will only report in the search results when someone is looking for the word “New Document.”

1.Your Page Has To Contain The Words You Think People Will Look For

Other than the headline tag, if you want your website to report in Google's results when someone looks for a set of words, say "Widget X", those words must actually exist on your page. If you look at it from the standpoint of a search engine. If you don't insert words "Widget X" somewhere on the page, how will the search engine know that the page deals with that matter? The search engine is not a tangible person who can receive intrusions from the general sound and material of the page. Even if the search engine can maneuver some synonyms, you're going to rival with other sites who have particularly put those words on their site.

I know this argument seems apparent (once you've actually gotten to this point). But, from my own understanding, a lot of webmasters, don't seem to recognize this when they are first beginning.

2.Keyword-laden Hyperlinks

With regard to a paper devised by one of Google's founders, if the hyperlinks aimed to your page has some words in them, those words will be seen by Google as an added signal of the material of your page. For instance, a hyperlink with the text "Cheap Laptop Computers” aiming at your page will make Google believe that your page is germane when someone looks for “Cheap Laptop Computer”.

However, I advise that if you are under the impression that a certain list of words are pertinent to your site, don't fall back on some random site on the Internet to hyperlink to you with those words. Make sure you place them straight to your page.

Other Google Advice

3.Use a Search Engine Site Map

Even though this isn’t MANDATORY, if you observe that Google (or Bing,) is not able to see some pages on your website, make a site map. To be more specific, try make a site map that is solely devised for search engines. Despite the fact that a site map like the one I described won’t warranty that Google will index and list every one of your pages, it will at the bare minimum allow it to those those missing pages if your site composure is such that it has obstructed the search engine from seeing those missing pages before.

4.Examine Your Robots.txt File

Just like all reputable search engines, Google will read and serve under an exclusive text file on your website regarded as the "robots.txt" file. You can operate where search engines are permitted to go with this file. A consequence of this is that you can also unintentionally impede the search engine from seeing certain aspectsof your site. It's usually a good thing to construct a robots.txt file for your website, even if it's an unused file that contains 0 bytes (meaning that search engines are permitted to index anything on your site).

5.ALT tags on pictures

If you have been putting pictures on your website without really caring about making ALT tags, you should definitely get that done now. An "ALT tag" (alternate tag) is just another way of placing a short explanation (using words) of what your picture demonstrates. They are utilized by the software applied by the blind so that they can actually tell what's inside the picture. Because every search engine, even Google, are by principal blind, depending on words, they also require the ALT tag. The explanation you put in the ALT tag is considered to be like the words existing on your web page, although I’m not sure if they are recognized as being of equal significance.

6.Be Cautious With Who You Recruit

Google's utilization of links to structure a website has at the minimum 2 bad consequences on the Internet. Firstly, people looking to rank higher have employed companies to create for them a lot of hyperlinks. These businesses supposedly set up a ton of sites for the solitary reasoning of hyperlinking to their clients. Secondly, as a reply to this, Google has reciprocated (and continues to do so) by stigmatizing hyperlinks from such "hyperlink systems" as well as punishing the sites that reimburse them for the services.

It's seemingly practicable to run afoul of this despite the fact that you have no plans for purchasing hyperlinks. For instance, if you are not cautious, and have stared a search engine optimization organization to better your site's production on Google, and they use a hyperlink system, your site may unintentionally get caught in the crossfire of this persisting skirmish amongst the hyperlink systems and Google.

7.The META Keywords Tag is Not Paid Attention To

The Google search engine does not take note of the META keywords tag for anything, and has always done been that way. If you have gotten any spam messages from some sort of SEO "expert" saying that you must add this to your site, do not employ him/her, since this advice up to now offers you a clue of the length of his/her supposed expertise.

8.Dynamic Pages as well as Google

Just like all of the contemporary search engines (all 2 of them, I jokeJ), Google has the ability to index powerfully constructed pages, just as long as a hyperlink to those pages is present somewhere. For example, a page like "http://example.com/blahblahblah” can be indexed by Google, so you don't really have to reword your URLs if you can't be disturbed.

If you have a vigorously constructed page that you believe should get indexed, just make sure you add a hyperlink to it anywhere on your website. This, of course, is relevant to all of your web pages that you desire to be indexed either way, so even if you don't comprehend what I mean by "dynamic page in the header", it shouldn’t really make much of a difference. Be sure that all the pages on your site can be located through at least one hyperlink on your site. If they are not hyperlinked to from anywhere else, no one will have the ability to see, neither Google nor your visitors (unless they can see the future :D).

9.Inactivating the Caching of Your Page Will Not Have an Impact on Your Page Rating

In primordial times, it was stated that Google would punish pages that restricted it from caching their pages. As you currently realize, the Google search engine caches the pages it indexes it is told not to do so. To dodge any issues with people who hate this, they permit sites to tell Google not to cache those pages.

Google has evidently publicly denounced that getting rid of caching would impact the page's rating in any manner. I tend to trust that statement.

10.Do not Dedicate Your Time With The Google Toolbar's Page Rating

In prehistoric times, you could place something regarded as the Google Toolbar to your web browser, and get something regarded as the "Page Rating” detailed for any site you visit. Back in those days, the "Page Rank" would give you a notion of how significant Google believed your site really was.

Nowadays, the Page Rating is only one of supposedly zillions of aspects utilized by Google in rating a website. They also disappoint people from focusing on the Page Rating, and as an outcome, do not really update the rating seen on the toolbar in a timely manner. (That is, the rating demonstrated is mostly many months out of date.) In fact, I'm not 100% sure if the page rating is even displayed on the toolbar anymore.

In other words, don’t install the toolbar, it’s not worth it, but this is ALL just my opinion.

Wish you all much success!

Hey Floridajf,
This is really good stuff! I do have a question about the hyperlinks from other sites. Is this the same as back links?
Also, would a link to your site from the signature portion of your posts on a relevant forum be beneficial?

Backlinks and hyperlinks are essentially the same thing. They are fundamentally an incoming hyperlink that goes from one web page to another website. But most supposed SEO experts scam you by selling you an SEO marketing package where they generate a lot of backlinks to your site which really end up doing nothing for your websites reputation. Hyperlinks are links from a hypertext file or document to another area or file, usually activated by clicking on a highlighted word or image on the screen. They are a lot more useful for marketing your site than backlinks which are kind of useless in my opinion, And as for your question about the link to your site from the signature portion of your posts on a relevant forum, I would say that it sounds like a great idea, just don't spam it. Try to use it once in a relevant forum at most.
