Getting Back Into The Groove

Yesterday I had family visiting so I just managed to keep my email clear and to write a quick blog post.

Today although I lost most of the afternoon to a lunch date I feel I have managed to achieve a lot more. I have found time to write this post and also comment on others posts where I have felt it appropriate.

I am currently writing a post for one of my websites which has been left untouched for far too long.

Why do I stop and write on here?

Now and then something pops into my mind and I have to put pen to paper or in this case fingers to the keyboard and write while it is fresh in my mind. This also gives me a little breather so I can refocus on the article for my website.

For some reason I feel I am not a natural writer, and I really have to concentrate on what I am writing about. I find it better to deal with the odd flashes of inspiration when they appear and then go back to my main article.

How do you deal with these flashes? What do you find to be the best way to deal with this sort of incident?

So I am getting back into the groove not to love a person as Madonna sang about, but rather to rekindle my love for writing and WA.

Best wishes to all

Derek

Best wishes to you as well.

Thank you Brian.

I also have a notebook next to the bed.
Try a few things and see what works for you.
Kind wishes

Thanks Daisy

Jot your ideas down. I do that a lot...especially at night after I've gone to bed. That's when the best ideas come to visit, as I'm all relaxed and the old mind is clear. I keep a notebook and a pencil handy so can write them down.

Thanks for your comments Fran.

I do the same thing. If an idea pops in my head for a blog I jot it down. Or, start a draft with headings/ sub headings. Memory is not as good as it once was.

Hello Mickey,

As I get older my memory fades more, so I have to write things down as I think of them

Derek

Sometimes I do the same thing; will be working on a new post and an idea flashes through my mind. So I do the same - quick, write it down before I forget...
Sometimes I will write it on paper, sometimes start a new blog draft to be finished later, and sometimes I add it as a note if I am using word.
thanks for sharing and keep on working on writing, you will get better with time.

Perhaps I not so odd after all then. Sometimes I actually find it useful to change tac so to speak. Thanks for your comments Ray.

Thanks for sharing, Derek.

Thanks Roger.

Yes I so much needed the groove myself. Writing is not so natural to me, but I find speaking to be much easier. So, I read your article and I am like you just stole my story. Yes, we need your inspiration too because there is so much I have learned through these blogs.

Past weeks I have learned I could write 1000 words.... and I now write more than 1000 words. Such tips are at times good for us who are in still learning to write and to speak.

Thanks for your comments Welcome. Perhaps if you are good at talking a program like Dragon would suit you well.

Derek

I keep a pencil in my pocket and hope that I can find something to write on when the inspiration strikes.I have a pile of scrap pieces of paper on my desk, so I guess it must work.

I have six notepads on my desk but I always have to search through them for the right piece.

Derek

When I get these flashes ..I jot them down immediately

I am sure it is the best way Richard.
