Am I the Only One Feeling This Way?

Am I the only one who has a problem completing one task before starting another one? Currently I'm working on two websites, I started one website and midway through came up with another Idea for a totally different website. Does anyone have advice or tips to help stay focus with the task at hand, instead of jumping project to project. :0

This is an interesting question you pose FeFe...

Because I came to Wealthy Affiliate, not knowing ANYTHING about affiliate marketing, I knew I had to follow each lesson and task, one by one, no jumping or skipping around.

But, I do believe we've become a society that almost praises the ability to multi task. On the surface, it looks good, but if you dig deeper, you can see a problem: multi, meaning more than one, which means your focus is never fully on one thing. People may be physically able to text while driving, but since their focus is divided........well, we already know how dangerous that can be.

I think Sylvia's response was perfect, I just wanted to add my little two cents. Kyle and Carson put together an incredible training; trust it and follow it, step by step. If you find your mind wandering a bit, get up, go for a walk, clear you head, give yourself a break, and continue.

Keep up the great work!!!

Great point! "Multi, meaning more than one, which means your focus is never fully on one thing" I love it and yes Sylvia had a great response. You guys are wonderful and so helpful.

I can feel your renewed energy Felicia!!!

you are so welcome!!!

Would like to thank all of you who responded to my blog post, great advice and tips. Thanks a lot!

Although I have six websites presently on WA, I think it is always best to stay focused on one website until it is completed. Great ideas should never be discounted. Just write down your ideas for other websites on a piece of paper and put it aside for later when you are ready and completed the first website.

I hope that helps. I always completed one website before starting another.

Steph

If you are a newbie, I'll do one website at a time.

I have been involved in affiliate marketing for some years now off and on. I have made several sales over the years but one of my biggest hindrances is jumping from project to project. Thanks to you all and this wonderful community, I think I will do well this time around.

I don't have a tip that will help, but just the thought that doing one thing at a time is best when detail is involved.

Thanks to you all, I'm learning to stick with one project at a time and jot down any random ideas and save for a later date. Thanks for your response.

I think many of us try to multitask and we are just not built that way. Something usually gets dropped. We also get days or moments when the brain juices stop flowing for that particular project, task, whatever. That is the time I switch projects and start to work on the other. Just a method I use whether at home or when I worked.

Nice advice Harvey, thank you.

Yes i am like that too... Too often but what Sylvia says is absolutely right... Otherwise you will end up frustrated, overwhelmed and with a fried brain. Feel free to pm me if you need help

Thank you! Just followed you, great advice

Yes finish one !!!!!!!

Yes I have to finish one, you are right.

Hi there, first off welcome to WA. I am 2 weeks old, and I must tell you, it is 11p.m. waiting for the New Year to ring in, and I cant find myself to stop working on my computer. You see I am totally hooked!!! on learning this business. I normally do what you are having problems with. But I learned very quickly to STAY FOCUSED. It is hard, but I will tell you what I have been doing. I have a pad of paper ready and a pen to write down ideas and thoughts on other things that come to mind, and go back to it later.

I did 2 websites in 1 day and a blog. After I finished my brain was going 100 miles an hour, but I realized I would not be able to finish my site and add content and good content that I could be proud of, and would attract people to my site if I kept going in other direction. It is hard, but you need to do this if you want to finish one project at a time, and know you have good content.

Heck, I'm still working and researching my niche because I want to make sure my content is on point!

I hope this helps, and feel free to message me anytime if you get stuck on other issues.

Have a Happy New Year!!!

Thank you so much, Sylvia, for the great advice! My son just told me the same thing. "Mom you need to have a pen and paper ready to jot down Ideas and go back to them later". lol

Wise words Sylvia!
