Finding the time!

I definitely struggle with finding the time to stay consistent when it comes to working on my website, like I'm sure a lot of people do. I am a stay at home mom/wife, so you would think I would have lots of time to get some work done. But I have two children, a 7 year old girl, who I homeschool she is in grade 1, and an 8 month old baby boy.

My children are light of my life and the center of my world, they get my attention first. And then my husband is next in line. He goes to work in the oilfield everyday, busting his but so that I am able to stay home with the kids. So when he is home I do whatever I can for him. And the we have our animals, chickens, dogs and cats. Thankfully my little girl is a very helpful independent girl and she helps me out so much around the house and homestead.

Time management has never been my strong suit, it is a learning curve for me! And of course having a baby at home, your days are never a strict schedule, especially when it comes to teething. Which my son has cut 5 teeth in the last two months and working on cutting 2 more at the moment. And because of the teething we are back to waking up a few times during the night, so I am also desperately lacking in the sleep department. So we just do the best that we can every day. Some days are better than others.

I am and have always been an early bird, waking up at 7am is considered sleeping in for me. My ideal schedule would be to wake up around 6am, have my morning coffee to wake my self up (cause I cannot go on with out my coffee). While I am enjoying my coffee and quiet home, I like to go over Wealthy Affiliate and make sure everything is ready to go for the day. Then it's time to deal with kids, breakfast, play time, etc. Then its nap time for the baby, and time to start doing school. My work area is set up next to my daughters school area, so I am able to get some work done while she does her school. Again some days are better than others. As my daughter says either her brain is on today or not. Haha. And I can totally relate to her logic!

As my daughter does her school, that's when I want to be writing an article and getting it published on my website. Then comes lunch, keeping the baby content while we do this. After lunch we are back to school. I love homeschooling because most days we can be done school by 1pm, leaving the rest of the day free. So once we finish up school for the day, that's when I'll do my keyword research and any research needed for the next article. Also finding the time to get supper prepared and cooking. After the kids are fed, bathed, and in bed, I would love to do some more work, but I also struggle with this time because my husband is home and I do still like to spend time with him!

So overall I desperately need to figure out a good time management system that works for me, my children, my husband, the animals, and all the work required for a homestead. Thankfully it's winter here right now, meaning there are less things that need done on a daily basis. But spring and summer are fast approaching. Where we are usually outside doing work from sun up to sun down. I cannot wait for my the blog post I do in the future telling you guys how I managed to get my time management under control!

If anyone has any advice for me, I would greatly appreciate it. Or even how you manage to keep your time manageable with a full house hold! I am still so excited about this journey! Thanks guys!

Donā€™t stress yourself. The beauty of this program is that you can work around your schedule anytime of the day.
As a grandmother I look back over my life and when I had little ones I was constantly rushing around. This is the biggest regret I have. Enjoy every precious moment with these children. Yes when babies are teething life is rough for anyone in the household. Just hold him close for as long as he needs. You only get a very short time in life while the children are little. I wish I could go back to this time in my life because it was the most precious time and I didnā€™t realize it.

Children grow up way too fast! That's where learning better time management is so important to me because my first priority is my children, and I cherish every minute I have with them, even the not so good moments!

I wish you and yours the best, Rachelle. Please do not take what I am about to tell you personally. This is more self-directed. It helps me.

This is often a dilemma we all suffer from, especially early on.
I have to manage my time how it works best for me and my immediate family's needs.
We all have circumstances that present themselves at different times throughout the day, week, month, or year (s), but this is not a race. We put unnecessary burdens and deadlines on ourselves because we are taught this throughout life.

Most will tell you that scheduling writing and research time is crucial to running an online business, or for that matter, a business of any kind. You must forget all that and do what is suitable for your situation.

With all your priorities, I recommend you look at your calendar, schedule content writing, and research into your daily plan; if feasible, this will be the best measurement of whether this business is a good fit.

I will reinforce what others tell us: if you don't regularly train the writing muscles, make a content schedule, and stick to it, the situation rarely improves. Your writing and your business will suffer. This business requires consistent writing; whether it be minutes or hours, it requires consistency.

I wish you the best, Rachelle.

Kindest regards, Matt

Not taken personally at all! Thank you for the reply! Its a big learning curve but one that will be so beneficial for my family and I. They are the reason I am on this journey, anything I can do to better our lives all around is my goal.

Time is a scarce resource, but if we want something bad enough, then we will find the time!

Jeff

Absolutely! It is all a matter of mind set and what you want to do with it! Thanks for the reply!

You're very welcome, and very right!

Jeff

Lots of ways to gain more time Rachelle.
If your day is already filled, you have to find some slack from somewhere.
A lot of people will have a cup of coffee with the intention of doing an hour or so after.
Turn it around. Do your hour first and then have the coffee.
If you have a favorite TV program that you like to watch, do an hour of work before you watch it. Can you do an hour after the program as well, and then have that cup of coffee.
3 hours a day sounds a lot, but six lots of 30 minutes comes to the same.
If I'm making another video and I'm not in the mood, I will make myself do just one page each time I walk in the office.
Plan your week, then make this 5 daily plans. This will keep you on track.
15 minutes here and there will work. A dripping tap will fill a bucket.
Good luck

"A dripping tap will fill a bucket." That is a terrific analogy I have never heard, except regarding plumbingšŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£. Is it okay to use it, Dave?
-Matt

Absolutely ok Matt. Its an expression Iā€™ve used for many, many years. A great analogy for time.
Hope you are well.
Bux

Yes I love the analogy, so true! I do my best to do what I can when I can! I just need to get in the habit of doing it more often! Thanks for the reply!

Stick with it until those little 30 minute sessions become a habit.
Good luck.
