The Winner Is: The Value of a Good Content Strategy

For the sake of this blog, let's say that John (Website owner) and I (the consumer) were the winners. Let me start by saying that you and I are equally bloggers and consumers. At any time we may need to make a purchase on other people's websites and that's exactly what happened to me. Last Wednesday I needed to purchase a health device because I wanted to get a quality product but also at a good price.

So I started with my search with DuckDuckGo, I got the best ten choices from the first page. I opened all 10 web pages on a separate tab to analyze my choices further. I went one by one reading all the details, reviews and looking at the images to make sure I was getting the best. I looked from WebMd to Amazon and so forth.

I found about 20 pages pointing to this product on the website that belonged to John (he's actually the CEO), but I kept looking at all the other pages just to satisfy my curiosity. My main goal was to make sure that the device I was searching for was first safe to use without any consequences. Secondly, I was comparing prices, and thirdly I always check the company for their reputation and customer service.

Then I went to Amazon, but it wasn't available. Well, I ended up going to John's website, and what a treat that was. His site was spectacular, the content was supreme and the design was phenomenal. He had everything so organized. He had hundreds of reviews from satisfied customers (that one just convinced me and had me sold almost 70%). He has sold over one million devices since 2009.

His story is outstanding, graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from a University in Texas, and he came up with an idea to help a friend that had a motorcycle accident and suffered a spinal injury. He built a device to help his friend with the injury. It all started with a desire to help a close friend and he built a company based on that idea. I bought the product from him and 24 hours later it was shipped to me. That's customer service.

He is a winner because from his mechanical engineering background he built a device to help people, and I was a winner too because I got a top product at the best price. It was the most pleasing user experience. Now are you ready to be a winner, are you making sure that people all over get the same user experience from your website?

The object of your content is to get people to have an excellent experience, not to bore them to death.

The winner of the content strategy battle is simple. It's not about quantity, it's about quality. In order to get a good conversion rate on your website, you need to have great content that meets the needs of your target audience and provides them with a reason for why they should buy from you.

The content marketing world is a competitive one. There are many companies vying for their share of the pie, and if you want to stand out from the crowd, it takes more than just good design and copywriting skills. The key to getting ahead in this game is your content strategy: what you're going to produce, how often you'll produce it, and where that content will live once it's finished.

We need to always ensure that the information that we give to our readers is current and of value.
That means researching and presenting it that our visitors will be attracted to visiting our website.
Writing with the customer's pain point in mind, in combination with copywriting will definitely enable us to stand out from the crowd!

Simone, you are becoming very good, step by step. I like it!
