What to do When You Feel Overwhelmed
A fellow WA-er just asked the question, what should I do to relieve information overload? My response was getting long, and then it occurred to me that he is not the only one with this experience- all newbies go through it. So, I decided that this would be a good time for my first WA blog post.
I hope many of you will find something useful in it. Wealthy Affiliate is not the only place we get overwhelmed, so these tips will work in any and all situations. I have used all of them with great success, and so.. I approve this message!
1. Take a day (or a week) off. I took three months off from WA and came back fresh and ready to go. It is easy to fry your brain with all this new information. Give it time to breathe and marinate on all the new stuff you are putting into it so quickly.
2. As I understand it, the classes are laid out to build upon each other, line upon line, precept upon precept. Start at A and work through to Z. Don't skip; progress.
3. Establish a routine. If you want to keep the momentum going with your daily blog posts, do so, but don't jump into a training when you are done. Go and do something else, completely different, like exercise or gardening, and then do the training later in the day.
4. Meditate. Ask God to show you what you should do. Listen and follow instructions.
5. Set a time limit and stick to it. For example, decide that you will put in one hour a day with WA, and/or your website, and stop at sixty minutes regardless of where you are in a task. Unless it is something that you cannot just drop or you are thisclose to completing, stop when your timer goes off. Do not begin another task immediately, but take a break instead. I have had great results using the Pomodoro Method, which breaks tasks into twenty minute blocks of work time, then a mandatory break.
6. To-Do lists plus Visualization have been a magic pill for me of late. I make my list at night, then visualize myself completing everything on it, excellently. The next morning when I wake up, I review the list using visualization and then get to work. I usually complete a more than satisfactory portion of the list.
7. Remember that this is supposed to be FUN! Don't make it hard and not fun. You are learning something new and beneficial to you and your family. Involve them if that is an option that you think will work for you (and them).

Hi Empress L,
The only thing is that I was mostly refering about the training theorical content, lessons and courses.
Thanks,
Hi, Jordi. I find it most helpful to begin at the beginning and progress sequentially when learning something new. I tend to think in straight lines and logical progressions. There is a lot going on here at WA, so for me, I think it's best to stick with the A-Z sequence. I'm sure you will figure out and do what works for you.
I go with a relaxation and guided visualization- works every time for me, either that or go out running!
I love this! I know for a fact that taking time out is important because I literally just did that for the past couple weeks and I came back and wrote a post within 20 minutes lol. And I have to practice the time limit piece of advice because I can easily spend an entire day on Wealthy Affiliate and yet get nothing accomplished.
Thank you, Latrice. It is easy to blow a LOT of time on the internet and accomplish nothing but eyestrain. (I know ;)). Glad you liked it. Hope it helps.
