A New View
Well today was an interesting day!! I needed to run by my doctor's office real quick to pick up some medicine.
So I thought, it's a nice day, so I will just ride the bus, (plus I don't have a car). Well I've never been to my doctors on the bus before because a friend has always taken me. Riding the bus there won't be hard. (cough-cough) Boy, was I in for an adventure.
I got up at 8am and pulled up Google maps so I would know EXACTLY what bus to get on. Remember I said my day began at 8am.
I got on the bus with no problems, heading to a street named Camp Bowie. The next thing I know the bus is heading right back towards my apartments. What's going on here?
So I ask the bus driver if we were going to the mall and she said yes.You really aren't supposed to talk to the bus drivers but I was a little confused.
I pull out Google and read it. It states we are going correctly and even tells me what stop to get off on. At that stop I will need to walk 4 minuntes to the doctors office. Cool beans I can do this and get back home to write somemore.
So I continue riding until I get to the stop that Google told me to get off on.I get off. Now I have been to this doctor before and I know that his office is NOT around this stop. It's noisy so I go inside a building so I can read Google again.
Now that 4 minunte walk is 1.5 hours. How did this happen? Well it's now 10:45 so I sit and think about this awhile. I need to recoup and rethink.
There is nothing to do but keep pushing on. At least the walk is though a beautiful neighborhood. My grandparents lived over here somewhere when I was very little. I'm not going to go and try to find there house though. Like I said I don't even remember exactly where it was.
Well I had more twists and turns on my adverture today but I learned something. I'm going to download a better GPS.
Oh and by the way, I didn't get home until 6pm. So it's a good thing I had scheduled my writing to be every other day for posts. I still will try to get one out tonight ahead of my schedule.
I tell you all this to try to show you that sometimes we have the best of plan, best schedule, best thought out route but then life happen...What do you do when life happens? You have a choice. You can either give up or you can say "well, that's not what/how I planned it but I will just press on!!

Been there and done that too many times. Luckily our 84 year old Mother will not have to experience that as we are her primary caregivers. I am also glad to read that you took this in stride and learned from your experience. It's not often that this happens, and when it does it is for a good reason.
Yes it was for a reason and there was no reason to get upset over it. Just deal with it is my model.

Well, done to you for your positive thinking. You could have been greatly disgruntled about such an occurrence, but you took the less stressful view of moving on.
Yes I will admit it took me a few minutes but why get upset over a mistake. The way I look at it is just pull up my jeans and move on. Then at home when I can review my day I can ask myself what did I learn from this? Get a better GPS!!! Is my first solution. Then I thought it would make a good blog topic because a number of people have been talking about how they haven't been able to meet there goals and are feeling bad. Just wanted to give some encouragement that sometimes life happens and will prevent me from meeting your goal and that is okay.

Hi Elaine, did you make it to the doctors office? What an adventure! I guess that is why Uber, Lyft and the other new transportation services are doing well. We used Lyft last weekend and every time we requested a ride using the phone app, the ETA was between 2 to 5 minutes.
Yes I did make it but I learn a lot about patience and what to do when things don't go as YOU think they should. Have a great night!!
