Feeling Overwhelmed

Failure is not an option for me

This is not in any way shape or form, of me considering giving up. It's more like an open cry for help.

I am feeling extremely overwhelmed. I don't know if it's an information over load, a fear of not doing everything right, or even menopause!

I feel like I'm struggling with an abundance of determination to make this work and an overwhelming fear of failing. Failure is not an option for me. My life is really crazy right now and I need to do this for myself. I am going to do this for me no matter what!

Maybe I'm just getting over excited and just can't wait for that first big commission? And maybe I just worry about doing everything right way too much? It's like a tug-of-war in my head from the time I wake up until I finally fall asleep from mental exhaustion. I even dream about how well I am going to do! The dreaming part is good though. I always remember the dreams and they seem to calm me down for a little while. That's usually when I get on here and work on my website or post to all of you. Today I managed to do both. With a little more clarity in my head tonight, I will share where I am at.

I am now working on two sites. I have been adding links and banners. I try to keep posting, but I do worry about posting too much. Can any site turn out to be a blog or are all sites actually a blog? When I tell you I know nothing about websites, post, pages, blogs, I really mean " I Know Nothing". I stress between adding too much and not adding enough. I think that's the worrying about ranking part of my brain. Lol.

Next we go into my information overload. There is a crazy amount of things to learn here! Especially for some-one like me (some-one who never even cleared level five on Pac Man). It kind of shakes my confidence. I can't seem to put in order in my head, that makes me wonder if I'm forgetting things. Or if I missed a part of the training. Lucky for me I can go back and re watch videos, reread articles or just flat out ask for help (which I am not good at either).

And that takes us to my struggle within. It begins with- Is it possible that I want this so bad that I'm pushing myself to hard? And it ends with me getting back on my computer and pushing forward because I know nothing in life worth having comes easy. And if you want to win the game, you have to get in there and give it your all! Again. Failure is not an option.

I don't even no why I put menopause in there. I may get a little emotional when I get really overwhelmed. But no hot flashes! So I'm not sweating that ( felt like I needed a little humor there).

So that's it in a nutshell. I'm sure other people have been at this same crossroad more than once. Now I realize that stepping away from of my sites won't slow me down. It might actually give them a little time to grow. And hanging out in the community is good for me. Not only do I give my mind the break that it needs, but it helps refuel my creative side. You all have such amazingly inspirational stories. I want to thank you. Your sharing helps on so many different levels.

We've all felt this way, you're not alone that's for sure!! Take it one step at a time and maybe try working on one site at a time. Figure out what works best for you. But doing "something" means that you're doing far better than a lot of people who dive into online business - keep it up!!

Cheers,

Nicki

Thank you. I'm not a quitter. I just needed to step back for a minute. And lecture myself on not thing I can do this without help. So heads up! I might be asking a few questions. Lol

No problem at all - that's what I'm here for :)

We’ve got your back here Elaine. Focus mostly on adding quality, low competition content to your site on a consistent basis.

Take a breather when you need it and remember that you are building a long term business which can be very successful once you apply what Kyle shows you.

Thank you. You have all been so helpful. I took a couple days off and now I feel recharged. Back to building my future! Do you have any training classes that might help me with improving the appearance of my site? I feel like its very boring.

I think most of us could (and have) written posts like this. Do not feel you are alone. There are times where I can just go crazy not understanding something.

My out? Is my little boy Bo (black lab). When I get to that point you are at, we go for a walk together, play ball or I just lay on the floor with him for 15 minutes. He's old and not going to be around much longer so when I get to that feeling of frustration, he calms me down and helps me stay level-headed.

Find you're out, something that will relieve the stress for a moment then continue doing what needs to be done. Most of us start with little or no experience so the overwhelming part is just an automatic.

Finally, do not hesitate to ask for help. Most people here cannot afford $5,000 SEO experts and designers to do it for us. I have found this is the next best thing. This platform is basically made for people like you and me so ask away. Just know this, people love and want to help you, let them.

"To conquer frustration, one must remain intensely focused on the outcome, not the obstacles" - T.F. Hodge

Thank you for the quote. I love Hodge! And I might try playing with the dogs the next time I get overwhelmed. Thanks for the advice.

When we first start out it can become overwhelming, one of the things that can help is to just to take things one step at a time. We are all here to learn, the great thing is that the training is step by step so by following along we end up building a business.
One of the things that can derail us is going hard out straight out if the gate, it can be good to find our rythum and balance, best wishes Elaine.

Thank you. I will try to start pacing myself and see if that helps instead of trying to do as much as I can every day.

If you are in this business for the long haul it is a good move, find where you are comfortable it is easy to scale from there.

Hi Elaine, thank you for your blog post. It almost seems like you're trying too hard to me, I appreciate that we all have lots to do! Maybe you just need to focus on one website and get that monetised first of all and not try and do too much at once. Every new business takes time and effort and nothing happens instantly in business, in normal terms.

I would set yourself a goal each day and work to that and just go through the training videos step-by-step and at your own pace. Life is to be enjoyed and if you have concerns and fears it will actually hold you back from your full potential! So just relax, set up some targets and try and be consistent.

Incidentally, I wrote this blog post the other day, I know you haven't asked this question, but it may encourage you. Enjoy your day.

Roy

Thank you Roy. I'm going to read that right now. And I agree, I may be trying to hard to get to the finish line.

Elaine you are not alone. I believe everyone or most felt throwing in the towel was an option. I been here since October of last year and have 3 domains. I thought I was gonna just breeeze through and put up my site and make lots of money. I became disillusioned and figured, "Wow! This is more than I could swallow! Dang!" I started to get down on myself not that I don't, I still do.

But y'know Elaine I knew as seems to always happen for me subjects I read here were foreign starts to really make sense. I mean words like "blogs" or "content" or "affiliates," began to resonate through my whole being and y'know I now understand.

I'm a slow learner Elaine, I knew for myself this maybe a race for others but not for me. I will make mistakes and learn from it.

What is for certain Elaine is just by being around here and grasping information here and there, I really start to get more in the know.

Do I know everything there is to know? Heck no! Am I worried no not at all because at the end of the day I will know and apply.

Hey Elaine just want you to know this, I am no way smarter than you but guess what I am confident in my mind I will build the best darn website west of Hawaii I have ever seen.

Y'know why? Because I believe in myself.

I was introduced to these words of wisdom by my good friend Alex that was written/said by Albert Einstein, with that I hope you can grasp what it means. To me I think it applies to you, it did me!

"EVERYTHING IS ENERGY AND THAT'S ALL THERE IS TO IT. MATCH THE FREQUENCY OF THE REALITY YOU WANT YOU CANNOT HELP BUT GET THAT REALITY. IT CAN BE NO OTHER WAY. THIS IS NOT PHILOSOPHY THIS IS PHYSICS."

Thanks for hearing me out my good friend! So if you need time to get your braincells together and do what I do many times when too much information clog my head. PUNT! Take a break for about a week and come back with a cup of coffee in hand, it helps me.

Relax and if you have to, come back another day! There is always another day! It may come clearer the next time!

Mahalo!

Frank

Thank you Frank. I do nothing in life without a cup of coffee in my hand! Lol.
I have decided to take a day or two off from my website and just browse the community for some ideas and encouragement.
My poor brain cells might need a little Hawaiian Sunshine!

I sometimes feel like that way too, and I only been with WA for two weeks. You asked all the questions you need to ask. For the failure part that is not an option for me either. So I have just relax and went over the lessons again. So don't worry about anything it will all come together. Take a deep breath and continue doing what you are but just slow down a little bit.

Mary

Welcome to the community! Thanks for the advice. I agree with all of you about slowing it down a bit and taking time to breathe it all in. If you ever want to vent, just message me.

You can do the same just contact and we can message each other. When you get the chance read my blog and think you will like it.

Mary

Elaine, you have only been a member seen January and yes you are overwhelmed. I remember my first few months and I had an IT background but was still overwhelmed. Take Eric's advice and for now just work on one site - I made a big mistake trying to work on several at once and it really hindered my progress. When you finish the certification training and feel more comfortable with the one site, then you can go back and work on the other. And like Eric said, go step by step and do it over if you don't understand something - ask questions. I remember I was so confused about the sitemap, and google analytics that I had to keep going over and over till I finally got it to work and I understood it enough. Keep on truckin and remember success comes with time and patience. As you are working on your site - think "I'm building this to help those who come visit my site". Dwelling on financial success is very stressful. Think of yourself as "helping" others with your site - a more positive outlook. - Shirley

Thank you. You are all right about me having to slow down. I Just got frustrated and needed to vent. Thank you all for the help!

Just take Kyle's course lessons one at a time and don't worry about anything else. It's easy to hear people chime in from the community with this suggestion or that, but Kyle and his training really give you everything you need at the time you need it.

I'd concentrate on one website for now. And also, think of this as a college course you're taking. Focus on the knowledge and understand you're getting of how things work and don't focus on commissions. That all comes later inevitably as a result of getting the knowledge base down :)

Don't let it overwhelm you. The training here really sets you up for success.

Thank you. You're right. I have been focusing on the business side of this and forgot about the schooling part. I read so many wonderful stories about success, I forget that I have learn to achieve. That was very helpful. Thank you again.

No problem :) That's what community is all about.

Hi Elaine,

Eric has the right advice on this one, you can do it.

I watch Kyle's videos more than once and let it all sink in. It's kind of like the old story about the tortoise and the rabbit. Fast doesn't always win. You will get there...

Thank you. I know I'll get there. I am going to take everyone's advice and try pacing myself more.
