Why Some Have Difficulty Selling A Great Product And Others Don't?

When you know that the product you are promoting is the best in class, isn't it frustrating when you still have difficulties in selling it?

Have you had this experience? How did this rejection make you feel?

There are usually three overriding reasons for this. Let's explore.

1 - Trust

You've done everything right. Your SEO was perfect. The post you wrote was ranked high in Google. Traffic was great. Yet you achieve little or no sales.

Have you considered that the main reason is your reader doesn't trust you. Yet!

Why is this so? Here are some factors that may apply.

  • Your website is relatively new.
  • You have yet to fill it with a lot of posts.
  • The post you wrote focusing more on selling than helping

When a reader notices these characteristics, trust goes out of the window. They will move on to the next post.

The best way to earn trust is to do the opposite.

  • Have patience by waiting a few months as your website matures.
  • Create a regular writing schedule and stick with it to fill your site with posts.
  • Get to know your audience and focus on helping instead of selling

You will make mistakes initially. In time, your visitors will notice you are serious about your business and know what you are talking about.

This will lead to increased trust as well as increasing sales.

2 - The Feel Good Factor

What do I mean by that? When you talk to people live or through a video, it is easier to build a relationship compared to the written word. Your tone of voice and the manner in which you connect visually and verbally can make your viewer feel good about your presentation.

When you get to the heart of it, you are telling a story. And stories can make your listeners feel good. What happens then? They are most likely to follow your call to action. This is usually to click an affiliate link to purchase a product.

You can also achieve this feel good factor using words. The best way is to first imagine talking to your audience. Then write your content in a conversational, story telling style.

In essence you are creating word pictures. Also, use pictures to illustrate your story. These should include pictures of the product and if possible, showing satisfied people using the product.

In case you are not aware you can do this, use one video made by someone else about the product you are marketing. Make sure the video is brief and is effective in demonstrating the product. Do not use a link that will take away your reader to another site. Instead, embed the video to keep them on your site.

3 - Show You Truly Care

The best way to show you truly care is to thoroughly research what are the pain points your audience have. Then show them clearly how your product can take away their pain. Or solve their problem.

There are many occasions when people are looking for a product not to solve a specific problem, but to reward themselves with something special. Think about buying gifts.

Deciding which direction to go will depend on the type of product, and your clear understanding of your audience. Do your research. AI is a great way to help you to be on top of your game.

Don't make the mistake of touting the features of the product. I have read many product reviews where the author shows how great the product is by focusing on its features, and not so much on the benefits.

This makes me feel that something is lacking. I don't think that the author truly cares about solving my problem or meeting my needs.

This comes across like bragging about what they have more than how they are trying to solve my problems or meeting my need. I just leave and look for someone else.

This Is Not Complicated

Once you earn the trust of your audience, make them feel good visiting your site and demonstrating that you truly care about them, achieving the sale is the natural outcome.

This is not complicated. Human nature being what it is, we tend to complicate our mission.

Don't get me wrong, The prerequisite of using good niche selection, being effective in keyword research and using proven SEO techniques to rank high and grow traffic is mandatory. These skills come from the lessons we learn and implement.

The Emotional Connection - The Magical Ingredient

It is more difficult to learn how to make that emotional connection with your audience. Once you master the three qualities of building trust, make your customer feel good and show that you truly care, magic happens! You will have made the emotional connection.

These three factors are interrelated. It is hard to achieve one without the other two. If you didn't know this before, now you do.

Have you ever felt good about buying something from someone else? You can make others feel good when they buy something from you through your website. It's like magic!

Go forth and do some magic!

This article is really informative. I think another big factor is knowing the audience buying patterns. In my niche, people like to handle what they buy so online shopping is not a big thing. I did not calculate this when I chose my niche. So sometimes it’s difficult to sell.
Jim.

Hi Jim,

I'm glad you found this post informative. We live and learn. I hope you selected another niche that improves your chance of success.

Cheers.

Edwin

Have a great weekend.
Jim.

Edwin, thanks for these words from the wise guy. It's the first one on the list that is the utmost top priority to get your readers to trust you. To do that, it requires you to be engaging with them. Ask questions to encourage comments and respond to them quickly. Of course, some will call you names - but it's rare to see it happen, but we must be bold and optimistic. Just because we offer a product to them does not necessarily mean it will work out for them.

Suppose we were to offer a product from Amazon in the appliance niche, and they bought it, and the product broke, is it our fault? Amazon fault? Or the manufacturer's defect? Usually, people will turn around and blame you because you offered the product for them to purchase.

I had that happening not with Amazon but in MLM in Health and Wellness. One person had an allergic reaction to the product, and that person blamed me. I explained that it's not for everyone and if allergic to it, I don't recommend continuing, so I gladly explained how to cancel the authorship simply as that then the customer was happy to get a refund from the company. The lesson learned here is always to try to find a way to turn a negative situation to resolve the problem to help them be satisfied with the outcome.

That is one reason I wouldn't say I liked MLM. They force people to do auto ships, and it can be difficult for people, especially if those products are very costly. You can get the same benefits with a brand from Walmart for less. That was a real eye 👀 opening experience for me not to ever be in MLM Health and Wellness again.

Thanks for sharing your post with us.
