Time For A Realignment

Hi folks, have you ever evaluated your progress and found yourself straying from your plans? When that happens isn't it time for a realignment?

The Super Affiliate Challenge

Earlier this year I was invited to join the Super Affiliate Challenge by Kyle and accepted it. The goal of the challenge is to use the affiliate opportunity of Wealthy Affiliate to help others thereby creating passive income.

Part of our training was also to help members by paying it forward. We do this by being active on Live Chat, answering questions, welcoming new members and sharing ideas through our personal WA blog posts.

    Straying From My Goals

I noticed I was doing only one post a week for my Affiliate Marketing website instead of the three I had planned. My plan had gone upside down. Instead of meeting my post publishing goals first, I had been doing all the other activities. Sure, it helped my ranking at WA that gave me a great feeling. I felt I was going off track.

You see, my idea of writing valuable content was to make my focus promoting Wealthy Affiliate. Sounds good right? It’s only when visitors sign up and become Premium I’ll get paid. But you can only do so much in promotion. My posts evolved into articles that discussed all the skills necessary to create a winning affiliate marketing website. And what better way than joining WA to learn it all?

Sure I did provide value. But I was relying solely on the WA program. We have great affiliate links and banners and I used them, effectively I thought. However, I decided to change things a bit in my last post.

    The Start Of My Realignment

I gave a tutorial on how to find a niche. I didn't use links to WA. It stood on its own. My post received comments from individuals who were struggling to find a niche and found my ideas truly helped them solve that problem.

This was the first time I felt real sincerity from my readers. I got such a good feeling. It made me think about future strategy. In this article I did something very different. Instead of worrying about SEO tactics to generate more traffic, I focused on people who would be reading my article. I wrote with that in mind.

Instead of talking about strategies that eventually directed them to my WA sign up link, I provided a lesson that could stand by itself with no Wealthy Affiliate backing. My mind didn’t even think of encouraging visitors to sign on to WA.

However, as I wrote my article I added links to other informative and supporting articles in my website. Those had sign up links to Wealthy Affiliate. One of the lessons Kyle taught was to have one main article talk about the merits of Wealthy Affiliate and link back to this rather than scatter WA links everywhere.

    Light Bulb Moment!

I finally realized what the lessons in Wealthy Affiliate have been teaching. It's all about providing valuable content first and foremost. In fact, my next article for my website will be about creating valuable content.

My approach is now to focus on my website articles first and then promoting them on social media before working on the other aspects of the Super Affiliate Challenge.

In this way I will be giving priority to building my business and then work on the other tasks on the Wealthy Affiliate platform. My rankings here could suffer initially. But as my website grows and builds traffic, I shall have more time to devote to helping other members here. In the long run my rankings will improve.

Does this make sense? What do you think? Have you been in this situation? If so how have you handled it?

    Thanks for your comments.

Yes it does Edwin. I admire all members who apply and accept Kyle's SAC. It can get intense, and obviously requires a chunk of time committed on a daily basis. It's very much like a traditional military Bootcamp with Kyle being the Drill Sergeant.

I see you in Chat and WA Blogs often, and you even have produced a couple trainings. This is what keeps your WA ranking in the Top 100. Very commendable, but at the EOD your focus should be on building website traffic flow. How's that working out?

So how much of your day is committed to WA? Has it been difficult to commit the needed time?

The trouble is I enjoy contributing on the WA Platform too much. The interaction is so much fun. I look at this as practice for when my website will start to attract organic visitors. I can create an Email list from that and communicate with prospects.

I have noticed my traffic increasing which is gratifying. Several of my posts are ranked on the first page of the search engines. Progress is definitely being made.

I doubt I’ll see conversions until I hit 100 posts.

Hope your progress is going well. All the best to you.

    Cheers.

P.S. loved the drill Sargent pic of Kyle ha.

He really helped Edwin as I am very new and have been struggling with the amount of time I am spending every day just reading and commenting on members blogs. Now don't get me wrong I'm learning heaps from doing this, making friends and feeling supported. But I'm doing less lessons, not posting on my new website. It is time consuming and a steep learning curve.

I guess it's all about balance.

Thank you for your insights. It made my day.

    Regards Lily 😊

Balance is the keyword here. Prioritize your activities and tackle the highest ones first.

I wish you all the best Lily in building your online business.

You’re most welcome Virginia. I wish you all the best in your online business.

You are doing the right thing, overall you want to be focused on list building, by providing content on your blog and / or having a good CTA in the form of a pop up which attracts people on to your list

No list and no matter how much you realign or use Social media then no Income

As for your WA ranking, then secondary in my view

I’ve yet to figure out how to build my Email list. I will be able to write a primer in PDF soon that I can give away for free via Email. Don’t know how to set that up yet. Also, when people leave comments on my posts, how do I find their Email address? Sounds like I’m pretty naive at this. I’ll be doing some searching for associates lessons on WA. If you can send me links to help me I’d sure appreciate it Dave. Thanks!

I am currently headed towards getting a good landing page to capture my email list from. Maybe you could implement one too?

Sounds like a great suggestion Linda. I have to learn how to combine landing pages with Email addresses.

    Cheers.

PM me to remind me that you want to learn how and I'll share when I get it figured out, or visa versa

    Edwin,

I fully applaud your new direction's bearings and I also concur with the reasoning behind it, as you've detailed it.

I find myself repeating this, but it is worth doing so:

NO ONE BUYS FROM A FACELESS UNKNOWN PERSON OR ENTITY.

I have responded in a comment to one of Jimmy's posts here on the importance of the word TOP [time on platform] and in sum and substance is the reality that most social media platforms do not want us to lure users/visitors away from them via our affiliate links but rather invite them to consume more content on their platforms, hence offering value and invariably becoming a brand and a source of trusted value, advice and authority.

I am heading in the same direction and I am aware that my WA rankings will fall, however we need to balance our interaction here and the time we dedicate to our own marketing strategies' implementation, without which all of the training and resources here would be wasted.

    Blessings!

Thanks for your support. The most successful websites are the ones where the author is clearly present. Anyone can check the dates of the posts. If there is a big gap that’s not good.

    Cheers!

Makes perfect sense to me Edwin. Sometimes life happens and we have to realign all our thoughts to take in the new happenings.

You’re right Derek. Life goes on with necessary chsnges.
