I recall seeing something some time ago about a plugin - or a code hack - SOMETHING - that would let a person subscribe to multiple lists at the same time.

Does anyone know

Turns out (shocker!) there is a PLUGIN for that!

https://wordpress.org/plugins/mailchimp-for-wp/

I bet there is something similar for Aweber, etc. too. Would not surprise me at all.

Enjoy!

Great, you found your answer! I'm using MailChimp so will check out that plugin!

Yeah. At least, I found _a_ answer :-)

Hope you find it useful!

How funny! I have had so many questions result in adding a plugin or changing my plugin...

You'll need to do some custom coding using the API of your email service. Each provider is different and you will need to contact yours and ask. If you can get any direct help with Wordpress, rots-a-ruck and let me know.

:-)

I think it did involve writing HTML input tags. It was pretty simple though, as I recall.

I am not sure how this would work. I do know that you can get people to sign up on other lists within an email.

No worries. I'm pretty sure I saw this information here, so I'm betting that person sees this and sets me straight :-)

I tried a search, but maybe my brain just isn't in super-smart-search-mode at the moment.

We'll see :-) I bet someone has the answer. This community is pretty awesome like that!

Howdy, everyone! Eddie here doing a bit of research for a new site I am currently working on.

If you have a SiteRubix site that is currently making you money, please respo

Good work Eddie. I like you train of thinking. I only use my site rubix for testing settings on the theme.

I've debated that too. Having a more technical background than most, I may actually do a local install for things like that.

I installed the wrong mix of plugins the other day and goofed things up for a bit. As long as you're not duplicating content, using a SiteRubix domain for that testing is an excellent idea.

I started using siterubix site the day I joined WA and just 2days back l bought my own domain and transfer my siterubix site to the new one, though I did not make any sales, but l will say siterubix site is good to start with

For me I began with a siterubix website, but quickly saw the value in owning the domain. It's like owning your own home, you don't mind putting money and time into it because it's yours.

I couldn't identify one starter lesson over then others for what helped me the most. I simply followed the lessons, engaged the comminity to begin a dialog and exchanged ideas. I even devloped a few friends that i text and chat with once a weel (when available) to catch up and talk about our week.

My site launched 12/26/14 and sometime in early March of 2015 unmade several sales. While making sales was my initial goal, it was seeing a global response to my site that revealed the true value. I use my site to increase my brand as a professional. I have received work because of my website.

Good luck with your research.

Shawn

Yeah I went with my own domain almost immediately too Shawn :-)

Just thought I would chime in about SiteRubix sites versus your own domains here. They can absolutely get ranked and get lots of traffic (and generate revenue). Here is a story of one members Siterubix website that you may want to read: At some point it is a good idea (ideal) to have your own domain(s) as you own these, they are much better for branding, and like real estate, they can grow in value.

By all means someone can get rolling with a Siterubix website. As a Premium member we have a simple, one click, SEO friendly "Move" process if you someone ever decides to transition an SR website over to their own domain.

Thanks, Kyle! This is the one I had in mind that caused me to begin this search. I'm trying to show that there are more. Either 1) there are and some are undocumented or 2) people just convert to premium too quickly to know. I was a #2, and I bet lots of others are too!

Part of me wishes I'd waited to 'go pro' just to do the case study. I suppose I still could, but it would take time. Plus, I would be only a single voice.

I appreciate you taking time to chime in though! I had lost track of this specific one and could not find it again.

I don't have a siterubix site, but I want to follow this convo to see what your research digs up?

I don't think many people are making money with the siterubix subdomain; not because you can't make money with them, but because if you're really serious about making money online then you're going to buy your own domain.

Yeah. Valid point, and I almost expect as much. You never know if you don't ask though :-)

That's what I would think, too. I know I don't take a site serious if it isn't a unique domain. I DO have a siterubix site that I just put up for testing stuff on it, but that's about all.

I'm going to have to conduct an experiment I think. Setup two similar sites in the same niche - one on siterubix.com and one on a unique domain and see.

Right now, I need to work on my main site. It's in bad need of content.

Good idea, but remember Google frowns on sites with duplicate content. So you'd have to be in the same niche, but your articles would need to be written in two different versions.

That's what would make it so hard. They would need to be extremely similar in nature but not duplicate.

I started writing a blog post. Then, I realized - "Hey, this would be a nice first training for me to create!" Only, I can't ... yet. I'm pretty new here, and you have to be aro

Haha I like your style!

The three month rule makes sense for most users but you are a software developer by day, right?
I think the community could benefit from your training since you have a background that can useful for most members on this site. I personally would love to see your training if you are a savvy software developer.
I would bet you have more knowledge about java than the normal user on here because of your experience. If it were up to me, I would let you create training because of your experience and background. I guess it is a strict rule however.

On a side note, I love your quote, "Better to open your mouth and get corrected - and LEARN - than to be an idiot for the rest of your life."

Java is my bread and butter. It doesn't do much on a WordPress site though. Them's all PHP. Another thing to learn.

I actually try to keep my developer hat off unless I run into something that I just have to tweak. I could go nuts at a low-level tweaking and not learning to write better copy. I keep telling myself, "That's why you bought a Genesis theme! Stop that! Use the theme!" There have been a couple of small things where I was glad to have a strong familiarity with CSS though.

I'm actually quite poor with 'web design' (making things look nice), but I tend to be good with functionality. Coarse layout is not hard. Fine-tuning something that's already 'done' isn't hard. The last is where I tend to let myself do a couple of things. I tend to have long site titles and my theme does not always permit this without wrapping. So, I tweak some CSS. I'm not sure I'd want to teach others to do this though, as it would open a serious can of worms!

I think open communication is vital! Glad you like the quote!

Thanks for the feedback!

Eddie

You have to wait the full three months, WA has this feature blocked. If you are still around after 90 days, then you are more than likely in it for the long haul. prepare your training and release it at your 90 day mark.

It make sense to wait until your 3 months are up because you don't know what you are going to run into during your training, you are new to WA and it can be a great learning experience to share with others that follow.

Yea just post a blog for now and do a training later about it! Glad you're feeling that confident and ready! That's awesome

There's a lot I still have to learn, but there are things I'm learning along the way that are not documented and I feel others could benefit from. Oh, they're documented other places the information can be got, but I for one come to the WA search bar to start my research on most things, and I'm betting several others do the same.

I haven't been shy for years though :-)

Daddy used to say, "Better to let everyone think you're a idiot than open your mouth and prove them right."

I say, "Better to open your mouth and get corrected - and LEARN - than to be an idiot for the rest of your life."

:-)

Hate to tell you, but it doesn't matter if you are monthly or yearly, the 3 month rule still applies. I've been told the reason is that they want you to spend your time in the training and learn all that you can and not be concerned about doing trainings at this time. Your time will be up before you know it. :)

I kind of figured as much. Thanks for confirming though.

Pay Per Click Marketing
Updated

I was looking at Bing Ads. One of my keywords that I'm using to drive traffic to my WA review just spiked today. I was paying first-page rate of 2.00 per click. Today, that same

Yes I have and what you're experiencing is fairly routine. Google has thousands of highly paid people working assiduously to make money for Google. They've just identified an opportunity and are capitalizing on it. Stay with it, and you'll see more.

Okay, I could see that on Google. This is Bing!

Your point is valid though. I saw some very high (although not THAT high) prices on Google as compared to Bing.

My wife asked, "Which keyword?" My answer was, "Does it matter? I can't be profitable spending that much for a click!"

I like how Kyle emphasizes, "The idea is to make more than you spend." :-) To me, that's common sense, but I could see where the 'auction mentality' could kick in and have someone pay more than they should.

We'll see how it goes though :-) Maybe @gmegs is right and it is a type-o. OR, maybe you're right and they're just trying to push the price up.

It's a low-volume keyword though! Then, I guess if someone has a page that converts really (really!) well, that might be just the place to put the high bid. Kind of like going for low-hanging fruit keywords for SEO. Is that what you're thinking, @WKnoepp?

You don't want to be throwing money away on low production keywords or any other advertising vehicle. Advertising needs to pay off or get dumped.

Just out of curiosity, what sort of conversion percentages are people seeing?

I seem to get a CTR of about 2.5-4.25%. I have not had a conversion yet, but I'm figuring about 10%. Does that seem appropriate? High? Low? What are you all experiencing? :-)

You're right in there with everyone else.

Thank you, Sir!

Wow, no I've never had that happen to me, but have heard about it from others. I would have stuck to the $2.00 due. No need to pay that much for a keyword, unless it is a single, highly competetive keyword, but you said that it is a low-volume...so, I would just keep an eye on it for now.

Could very well be they made a typo - if so, they will discover it soon and it will go away.
... can't comment further without knowing the keyword; there are some though who will pay a hefty amount on a keyword.

That's a good point! I had 200.00 on one for about 3 seconds :-) I had left out the dot between the 2 and the 00 :-)

It was such a specific number though that I thought perhaps it was intentional. ... and we're not talking about first slot here - we're talking about the first PAGE. To me, that means several folks decided they needed to pay 23.00+ to get on the first page.

Got me, but I want to follow this convo to see if anyone else can make sense of it?

Yeah - it's very interesting! I'll update as things unfold.

First: I install SEOpressor last night. Wordpress SEO by Yoast has been wearing me out with buggy release after buggy release. Annoying!

I'm noticing today - don't know if

There is a setting to allow 'auto decoration' (bold, italics, underline) of keywords. Seems like it does it when the post is served. I'm supposing that, since the homepage content is served differently - the URL would not map to the post - it cannot tell that it should do this decoration there and thus the two being served differently.

I think the root lesson here is: DO NOT LET A PLUGIN OPTIMIZE YOUR CONTENT FOR YOU!

:-)

I find it particularly interesting that - knowing its own rules - it cannot follow them. Sounds like a bug to me.

Hope this helps someone!

Eddie

FYI - This seems to be SEOpressor. If I disable it, it doesn't show the old content. Hrm!

Its annoying when you pay money for something and it bites your hand. I'll have to dig into this more. Hopefully, I can make it work. I really like the plugin. I like having my edits shown even more though!

Changes published oddly - shown on home page; not on post?!
