The Awful Truth is Hard To Hear

Wow, so the best thing about WA is that when you make use of the feedback tool, you will most likely get some good feedback. And the Worst thing is that.....yes - you get good feedback. Yesterday, I was so excited because I had several blogs posted and I felt like I was getting somewhere, and then someone gave me feedback and just slammed it. She said my site wasn't professional.

That hurt, because I pride myself on being professional. And then I realized: you can do whatever in your other job, but the reason WA wants us to go through this training is that it's necessary to be successful! I mean, the feedback was RIGHT! My site was too busy, too filled with big banners, tacky. :-( So I'm going to work on fixing it and making it better. Right now, instead of making money, my goal is to get some good feedback on my blogs.

I would definitely suggest taking the time to offer and receive feedback if you have not already done so. It's hard to overlook your own shortcomings, and the only way to really succeed is to let others help!

Excellent attitude EB, feedback is a great tool to take the wind out of your sails eh! but so necessary and good for the improvement of
your website.
I just received some very good and useful suggestions from one of my fellow WAers. Without knowing the faults in your site, you may be missing traffic and sales, so yes feed back very valuable.

Not taking feedback personally was something I had trouble with, at first, but you gotta let it fall off your back and it looks like you are doing that!

Sometimes the negative is the most honest.

The best feedback is negative feedback and I don't mean this in the sense of internet trolls, rather people that offer you constructive and insightful criticism.

Something that we learned over the years is that although it feels really good to get a pat on the back (and those will happen as you build out your site), the real evolution and innovation will stem from those with feedback that is constructively criticizing your work.

They aren't always right either, but at the very least it will offer you an alternative opinion. Embrace it and get better as a result!

Thank you so much! I have already made a lot of changes, and feel like I learned so much from that one bit of feedback. Great system.

Most of us wouldn't take the negative feedback quite so well. Good for you. I am not sure I would have been so teachable. Good luck to you.

I am type-A and I always want the A+, so believe me, taking any criticism is very difficult for me. But, I need to get used to it.

That's pretty great, actually. Your willingness to learn and adapt, as well as take criticism will definitely help you in the long run.

I hope so! I really want to create great work here.

Hello Elizabeth, yes sometimes good feedback may not be what we want to hear, but it is what we need to hear, especially from a stranger. That is a potential customer and if one visitor is thinking that way then there maybe others.

So true! Great point.

That' a great professional polishing experience.A great thing to hear!

Good for being positive. My site too got a feedback that it's boring. I was not able to use images.

Why were you unable to use images?

I did not yet find an appropriate one so in my mind I will be adding images when editing or updating comes.
