“Life’s Daily Inspiration” I Can do This...

Last night my mom and we’re watching television. A game show something mom just loves. And again, what mamma wants mamma gets at my house. I was halfheartedly watching/reading at the same time. After countless hours of game shows and animal planet another favorite of mom’s. I was only partially listening. As I’m the parent now. That’s what parents do. Lol

Somewhere in my mind

It registered mom was talking, not to me but, to the television. Mom has end stage Alzheimer’s.

So I look up to see what going on. The host of the game show is telling that the contestant has a chance to win 1 million dollars. Yep, got my attention now.

Mom, kept repeating over and over. Win it, win it, you can do it. You can do it. I went back to years gone by, where she always interacted with the game shows.

Another memory I will never forget.

The host gave the question, and the contestant hesitated to think about their answer to the question. Meanwhile mom is still chanting, you can do it, you can do it, you can do it! Come on, you can do it.

The contest won the money and mom was jumping up and down in her recliner clapping, saying, I knew you could, I knew you could.

Made me think of the story the little engine that could.

And how we all need to be like that little engine. From the children’s storybook. All the way up the hill chanting to himself, like mom.

Only not, I think I can. But, instead “I know I can”

Blessings,

Scarlett and Elaine

Great post, helps me to remember my mom, God bless her soul, who passed away.

So sorry for your loss, I know I’ve got it coming soon I fear. But, I’ll never be ready to give her up.

Hi, when Elaine and I started our WA journey neither of us knew anything about building a website. but, I HAVE LONG BEEN TAUGHT YOU CAN DO ANYTHING. You can learn how so we are enjoying the learning process. everyday I tell myself you can do this.
Blessings,

She must be a blessing to you. She should be here convincing all those who are not so confident.

Thank you Derek, she has always been there for me cheering me on. Now it is her turn. And I AM RIGHT WHERE I WANT TO BE.
Here for her.

Hi E&S, what a moving post. I lost my Mom 3 years ago and rarely a day goes by that she doesn’t come to mind....something I see and want to tell her about, or something I’d like to ask her advice on. Your Mom now may not be the same one you grew up with but if there are still things that bring her joy and make her cheer that’s a blessing. And she is blessed to have you there for her, caregivers are special people.
I remember the little engine that could from my childhood too, and isn’t that applicable to all of us here at WA?!
Thanks again for sharing.
Kyle Ann

Thank you, and I am indeed blessed to have her, even in her child like state. We all need a little child in us from time to time.
Blessings,
Scarlett

Your post brought a tear...we have lost both our mothers in recent years...we would give anything to share another moment with them.
You have indeed become the mom...I did with my mother and took care of her until the last.
Wishing you some more fun and special moments with her for as long as she has.
Life is a cycle and we rotate our roles.
Big hug to you and your mom;)

Thank you for your words of encouragement. Mom’s time is running short so I strive to make the most out of each day we have left together.
Blessings
Scarlett

Sorry that you are going through that with your mom but treasure the time you have left.

You can do this.

I try to make a new memory everyday for she will be gone soon enough. Thank you.
Blessings.
