Trying to get back into building my websites
Hi everyone!
Trying to get back into building my websites again. I don't know what happened except having a hard time with social media. Social media has not been my forte, so I'm stuck right now.
I know I have to get back into writing again now or my sites will be no good. I don't want that to happen. Not sure on what to do with this social media thing that I have.
When I worked at the sheriff's office we were allowed to start an account on FB but had to really watch what we wrote. Very strict, I ended up getting wrote up because I wrote "I'm ready for vacation", believe it or not. I thought that was the stupidest thing I've ever heard of but it happened. So I swore I would not write anything in FB.
If anyone has an answer to this problem I have, please let me know.
Hope you all have a great night!

I agree with @StunningBell. Create a new one with an inconspicuous name (maybe your niche name) you may need to create a new email to link it to also. My husband is a cop, and he used an alias for his Facebook. He also doesn’t post pics of himself on it. If you need any more guidance on the social media side of being in the public eye, please feel free to inbox me, and i’ll give you as many pointers as you need! Sometimes it helps to have somebody proof your posts before they get put up, and potentially avoid any “politically incorrect” issues that could get you in trouble with you job while you’re getting yourself set up on here!
Thanks for the tip and the offer Janice! I may take you up on it. I don't work for the sheriff's office any longer being disabled, however most of my friends on FB are cops.
I think it is ridiculous what employer expect out of their employers. As an employee of the US Court System (US Supreme Court), my husband is supposed to stay neutral in all things political. This means that he is not supposed to "associate" with lobbyists. Our daughter is dating (and talking about marrying) a lobbyist. Technically we are not supposed to talk to him of have him in our home.
He is also not allowed to put up signage in our yard for any person running for office (it's on the list they gave him last year). The reason I find this so ridiculous is that I am the one who was responsible for that, so they are in effect, dictating what I can or cannot do. I really don't like people telling me what I can and cannot do in my own home!
I could see the sheriff's department having an issue with you putting up anything that was illegal or immoral, but to write you up for looking forward to a vacation is outrageous!
I feel for you!
Well, I gave them a piece of my mind when they let me go to file disability.
People that work for the sheriff's office think the higher ups plus the sheriff are full of crap but they won't let no one know it on the outside.
Really glad I'm out of there and if I had to go back to work I will not work for a government agency again. I'd work for myself.
That's what I've always hated was that you had to hold a higher standard of living when working for government and I'm with you, I could never handle someone telling me how I should live my life.
Thanks again.
Are you still working at the sheriff's office? If not you can create a new facebook account and feel free to post whatever you want to post, especially concerning your business.
I no longer work for them. I'm on disability.
I've tried to create a new FB account but every time I enter my name or something like that it takes me to my old account.
Hi, Eric, we can all hit those little bumps in the road, the thing is that most of us have had some exposure to social media, the big difference now is that we are using and engaging with social media in order to expand our online exposure, business or both.
Once we get our heads around this our way forward becomes a lot easier, one of the best ways to move forward is to pick one and concentrate on that once you feel comfortable then move on and evaluate the other platforms. This way you are building infrastructure along the way. Keep working on your sites by way of creating content that is the engine room at the same time.
Try not to look back, look forward and look for ways to enhance your business. Remeber it is all about creating business plenty of time to play when you are sitting on that beach and checking your PayPal account.
I find that most platforms have some really good tutorials on how to get the best from the platform and we need to remember they all make money selling advertising.
I found this helpful I just did a gloss over but got the information that I needed check it out you may find it helpful.

It sounds to me like you need to open or start your own FaceBook page. You shouldn't use the one you have at the sheriff's office. That is not yours so that would not be good to promote your own business. Just go to facebook.com and open a new account. Hi Darleen, the FB page is mine and didn't go through the sheriff's office to get it. I just have a lot of deputy friends on there and really don't want them knowing my business. I don't work for the sheriff's office anymore.
I'm going to make a FB page and promote that.
Thank you for the info!
