Niche Site Ranking From Scratch Day 3
Good evening friends - time is now 21.21 on 2nd February.
A good day today - got lots done!
I added content to the About page, Privacy page and the Home page. I hooked up with Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk and became an associate of each site but I have to fill in tax details for the Amazon.com link or they'll take 30% of my commission!
One thing I forgot to tell you lovely people was which theme I've gone with.
It's the 'Ritz' theme. I started on the Omega theme (a free theme from WA's theme bank) but it didn't do what I wanted. So, to change the theme I did this:
Wordpress back office > Appearance>Theme>Add New (a button at the top of the screen)>Feature Filter>I chose 'Blog', 'Footer Widgets', 'Full Width Template' and 'One Column'>Apply filters
From the results I chose the Ritz theme, simply because I liked the look of it.
Now, this theme doesn't allow comments on pages only on blog posts - so tomorrow (Day 4) I'll be adding:
- A contact form (probably Contact 7)
- A G+ account so I can start to generate backlinks
- 4 blog posts - 1 per keyword from Day 1 - complete with Amazon links
- Perform Fetch As Google on all posts to see how long it takes them to reach Google
- Possibly a Facebook Page
- Check on all posts and pages to ensure that I've filled in the All_in_one SEO requirements properly (I'll do that before I 'Fetch' them)
- More research on portion control, especially youtube videos
- Add an Affiliate Disclaimer - probably in the remaining footer section
Now, Jay did say in one of his videos that he doesn't add affiliate links until he is on page 1 - we're not waiting that long, let's see if the social signals I intend to generate create any form of visitor (not 'bots obviously - those suckas never buy a thing!)
I like what I've done so far - but there's always room for improvement at all times
Speak to you lovely people tomorrow

You are on the right track, Dom. I can see that you are following Jay's training for SEO. That is great. Remember the keyword formula 100/100 and you will be fine.

Gosh you did well.
I was wondering how to change a theme. You can change the image on the top can't you? None of the ones I have seen reflect my niche.
Thanks for this info.
Cheers Jae
Yes, you can change the image at the top Jae if you select the option 'custom header' when you do the following:
Wordpress back office > Appearance>Theme>Add New (a button at the top of the screen)>Feature Filter> then choose which options you want>Apply filters then choose the theme you want.
Thanks for this detailed info to change theme image. I want to do this very much so now have the instructions I need to do so.
You beaut!
Jae
