Hello there and welcome to the dawn of a new step in our creation of a brand new website; it's Day 7 of our 30 Day Challenge and today I'll be constructing the first informational post for the website Gerd Pillows
Now, we are going to be using ParthaB's 'Perfect Post Plan' (my alliteration) with some help from a free (currently) Chrome extension called SEO Minion.
Firstly, what is the PPP?
In order to write the perfect blog post,
1. Conduct keyword research via Google Autosuggest to find a low competition question phrase.
2. Make bullet point notes of the main answers to the question, and this will form your subheadings.
3. Next is the answer snippet. Ensure you answer the question, bold and highlight the text.
4. Keep your introduction short and sweet,
5. Break up your paragraphs,
6. Make use of images, charts, tables
7. Include videos if they help bring the point across - even embedded ones from Youtube.
8. Conclusion
9. Call To Action
OK, let's get into my breakdown of this process - do feel free to agree or disagree, it only helps me grow and get better.

Right -
Step 1: So I need to choose a question from my list that has a good level of UGC (User Generated Content) and my choice from my list is: "How many inches is a 20 degree wedge pillow?" Now, I chose this question because it also has 2 other questions around it - 15 degree and 30 degree - which tells me that a comparison table would work well in the post body.
Anyhow I have heard it said that you shouldn't have a question as a blog post title, especially one that has an easy answer. Anyhow as this one has math in it and uses Pythagoras's Theorem to come up with an answer, I think we're pretty safe - also this is a question that people have typed into the search engines so a post with this title should show up. Anyhow I will add an H1 tag to the post just to cover my tracks.
Step 2: Make Bullet Points - now here I am going to use SEO Minion to tell me what information I need to include to beat out the top 3 serp results. Now, to show you how I'm going to be using this extension, please watch this video from about 6 minutes in: SEO Minion as this is the process I'll be using
So, the top 3 articles for that question have, from 1st to 3rd, 1592 words, 2293 words and 5433 words; so why is the smallest article the #1 position? It is because it directly answers the question in a table that is 'above the fold' i.e. visible without scrolling.
My bullet points are: 7" wedge, 10", 12" and 27"
Step 3: Answer Snippet - this has to be my comparison table but what information could I add to the table to answer the question more completely? How about having the wedge the 'other way up' thus supporting one's back if you're reading, watching TV etc.-thus giving use to the full dimensions - ah ha!
Step 4: Introduction - Keep it short and sweet - 150 to 200 words. OK, mine is 117 words but I think it describes the problem, hits the pain points and leads the reader onto the answer snippet.
Step 5: Post Body - remember to keep the paragraphs short - 2-3 lines so that they show up on a phone screen in easy-to-read chunks.
Step 6 Images etc. - each of my sub-headings will have diagrams of triangles in both orientations so people will know what I'm talking about.
Step 7: Video - I need to find a generic video from Youtube that isn't brand-specific.
Step 8: Conclusion - here I need to repeat the question, briefly show my 'workings' and make a decision.
Step 9: Call To Action - This needs to be an internal link to another blog post or to a review as and when I get one done.
I have updated the spreadsheet with 3 more pages:
Sheet 6 is a breakdown of the article I'll be writing first
Sheet 7 is the raw data from using SEO minion
Sheet 8 is the SEO Minion data tidied up.

Now. I won't be writing this today as I am out this evening so I'll update again tomorrow.
