The questions I see most often is:-

How do I afford to pay my membership here?

Typically, people come to affiliate marketing to make life better for themselves, but very often they have little money.

What is the solution for them?

Well, as the whole thing is designed to teach people how to build websites, I suggest to them that they learn the skills and then build a few websites as a service for other people.

I currently run websites for 3 clients and I charge them a management fee every year. This easily pays my Premium+ membership fee here!

It's the simplest way to earn as you learn. All the normal 'admin' things are taken care of in the WA membership package for you. Backups and security are handled automatically, as well as SSL and anti-virus and hacking protection too. You can then also advise your client on things like SEO and content, along with ways to market their business too.

All you need to do is apply what is taught here, and you get all of this awesomeness effectively for free!

Then you can show others how it's done.

Try it! 😎

I've considered this, and in fact, my sister needs help with her website. My concern is that where her site isn't hosted by WA, would I even be able to help her with her problems?

Do you have your clients sites moved over to WA, or how do you deal with sites that are hosted elsewhere? I'm also curious to know answers to DigitalCharl's questions in the replies as well.

Thank you for this excellent idea and post.

Kevin

I try to keep it simple and didn't really consider transferring existing domains and websites. It isn't impossible, but you might make things awkward for yourself if you accept this type of stuff at the start. But once you become more proficient with everything you can branch out.

If it is a WordPress website you can use the free WPclone. WA uses it when they transfer new accounts. It is a WordPress plugin. Really easy to use.

Thanks Dave. Can you share whether these 3 clients you have are people you know quite well?

Because I felt that it is hard to do this for people we don't really know as they don't really have control over the website. They can't change the password themselves for instance.

So they must have alot of trust in us.

And it is like what happens if we met with a mishap and passed away? They will have no access to the website after a while especially when the membership renewal won't be able to renew.

Do you setup some form of contract with these clients?

Yes, two of the three clients I know quite well. I always discuss the domain ownership part with them and explain the pros and cons of it. If they want control I get them to buy their own domain and then give me the passwords. I can then set up the hosting and point the domain at the webspace. I'm always transparent anyway with passwords etc., but explain to them not to fiddle with things 😏

Remember, the objective is not to set up a web hosting company with e-commerce and more complex things, just a few simple 5 page websites to cover your membership fee here. If the client requires something more complex, I make sure I have an affiliated hosting agency to take on the task.

I do always set up a simple contract explaining what i'll do and won't do as part of the service, and always provide a website download file at the start and regular intervals after if required (potentially chargeable).

Just do what you are comfortable with and try to always over-deliver. That way it keeps the client happy.

Nice. Thanks for the inputs! 👍🏻

Thank you for this post Dave. I have considered doing this idea. Do you create websites for people that have a business? Or do you set up affiliate websites for people?

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of fee do you charge? Do you do set amount? Monthly fees? Charge for updates etc.? Thank you!

I have done sites for businesses, but try to keep it simple for this purpose. I tend to focus on people who know me, but discuss all the ins and outs beforehand. I charge about £150 per website, plus the domain registration. I charge them a yearly fee, paid in advance. I don't charge for updates, unless exceptionally technical.

Hi - that doesn't sound very much to build a site!

Last year, Partha and I built a site for somebody and charged them $480 (about £380), and we considered that cheap!

Although, that did include me writing the first 10 posts.

Thanks for the tip! All the best.

I as well did this in the beginning! For a couple of local non profits. Great post!
