Never Be Willing to Settle for the Ordinary

We should always strive to be better than we think we are and we should never let anyone else tell us what our limitations are.

Life is a risk every day, and you never achieve anything unless you're willing to go beyond your boundaries.

I was always often told--" you can't.." which is negative and a way to control someone and hold them back based on your own fears. I'm lucky that I always took this as a challenge of their waving a red flag in front of me and gearing me to prove them wrong.

If it had been up to my family, I would have always lived at home and never ventured out on my own. I was always strong-willed and independent, a spirit they could break no matter how hard they tried.

Being a ground breaker and breaking the rules has put me in the role of leader when it comes to inspiring other people with disabilities. It's not a roll that I initially chose for myself, but a roll that I was put into by society because of the era I was born into.

I was the only one with a disability in school because there were no laws guaranteeing people with disabilities the right to an education. I entered the workforce 15 years before the Americans with disabilities act became law, and when I couldn't find gainful employment, I decided to become an entrepreneur.

You don't want to be ordinary or be just one of the crowd. As an entrepreneur you need something that's gonna make you stand out and be different from everyone else. Because of my early experiences growing up, I was always ahead of the curve and the laws had to catch up with me.

Today, there are many more opportunities to be different than anyone else and stand out in the crowd, but you have to find it for yourself. All of us have something that makes us unique and different from anyone else, but it's something that you have to find out about your self!
