My Grandson is Wise.
Recently, I have had mobility issues which necessitated the use of a cane. Although this kind of eliminates me from participation in the Paris Olympics, I have been attempting to go on walks with my family in very hilly country in central California. Falling behind or slowing up the other walkers discouraged me to the point that, on one walk, I decided not to attempt any of the future fun, group walks.
As I watched my grandson run way ahead with our little dog Sage happily chasing him, I thought , "Why bother? I am slowing everyone down and can't keep up." My grandson Jack came running back with the dog right behind him. Out of breath he said, "Hey, Papa! When I run with Dad and Sage, I can't talk. But when I walk with you, we can talk."
Things do change in our lives for many different reasons. Adjusting to the changes can keep life exciting in new and unexpected ways. Some changes are superficial and others, undeniably, are huge and permanent. My grandson's wisdom, without him knowing it, helped me shift my thinking and changed present circumstances.
Walking slowly isn't so bad when I get to talk with my Grandson.

He is indeed super wise. One thing I have learned from living in an Indigenous community for over a year is that every generation learns from every other. That interaction is important for all. They recognize that on all levels. Don't give up, Jim. Spend as much time with your family as you can. You can never get that time unspent back, and neither can they.
My grandfather died over fifty years ago and I adored him, I STILL think of him often.
All generations will lose, including you, if you withdraw. Ok it is is okay if you are tired or not up to it but otherwise go at your pace

That is pretty awesome and yes he is very intelligent for coming up with that, even though it is a basic truth. Funny thing I just literally hung up with a work associate of mine who lives in California.
Thanks for the reminder about how cool kids can be.
Have a Great Night!
