Why be an Internet Marketer? Part One
Ok. I know that almost all, if not all of us here at WA came here purely because we want to be internet marketers. My question is, why? What is it, that drives you to want to be one?
I know why I want to, and its not one simple thing that brought me here. I know that the odds can be against me if you just go by pure statistics, But I'm also aware of some of the reasons that those stats are so twisted. I learned them by accident many years ago.
If you go by what the "accepted" stats are, 95% of online marketers will never make money. Well that "fact" accepted at face value might be true, but what are we talking about when talking about all online marketers?
How many of them were drawn by the bright flashing bling of "Instant Riches". Or "Earn Thousands, every Month, Week, or Day" depending on how outrageous the scammer wants to be? Only to be burned one time after another, and said this is BS and never tried again? How many tried to start their own business and were so frustrated that they just simply gave up. They had a lack of knowledge, with no way to get a website built. Or paid to have one built and gave up because they did not have the skills to maintain it or promote it?
Then there are those that managed to build a website, and put up a few pages. Then signed up for an affiliate program and then sat back and waited for the money to roll in. Then when a few months went by, said screw it, and deleted that site and tried another, then another until they gave up.
Ever join a program, get involved and then jump to another months later as the first one was not giving results fast enough? I made that mistake. Part of the program was tied in with an autoresponder that gave affiliate commissions. I joined a different program and stopped even promoting that autoresponder. About a year later I decided to open an account with the same autoreponder company. Tried to reopen my existing account but it had been dormant too long.
Long story short, shortly after that I learned something from a 3rd party still in that first program that I had abandoned. Even sent me a nice screenshot. I should have stayed active with the original autoresponder account. If I had I would have had well over 500 people in my downline generating an income for me. I had just gave up too soon.
So what is my point? Do not go chasing after the instant win, the bling. the fast money. Because if you do, its not going to be you making money 99% of the time. Do not give up on your own business. One thing I've learned is that it does take time to make a go of it and you need to be in it for the long haul.
Next post I'll give you all the great reasons I think internet marketing is the best business to have. Also, why I think you and I can be in that 5% that is making money with internet marketing. Part Two

Great post and rings so true. It seems the more I learn the more the obvious it is I need to know more to be really effective in online marketing... it's a process and a fascinating one that will have a brilliant payoff. Thanks!
Thank you sir, I fully believe your entire post. I'm in for the long haul, good, bad or indifferent. I don't believe there is a better format out there as good as this one.
good post. your autoresponder experience reminded me of something I read awhile back... if you added only one person a month into your business, and everyone else did the same, you would have 4,000+ people in your group in one year!. If we achieved only 1/8 of that, then we would have ...500 people! what if we could earn $1 per month per person? The challenge is thinking in the long term instead of right now. I just added a 6th person into a program in less then 3 months, so I know it"s not easy, but is possible.
Thanks for this! I needed it! I'll surely be looking forward to PART II of your post. Maybe most of us make the mistake of desiring getting money too soon... and understanding that it does take time, patience, persistence and hard work, is not easy to accept for everyone.
Blessings!
great post, I joined because I wanted to work and with the health situation this gave me a window of opportunity to create something new to me and has give me a all new prospective, I also knew it will take hard work and time.. look forward to next installment
Nice article. We sometimes can feel completely lost. This is where I think WA comes in, We can stay more focused on learning as we perfect our skills and knowledge.
Hopefully we will not get frustrated with slow returns.
Hi Gerald, I agree that feeling lost is part of the failure rate, and WA can help immensely with that. Your on to part of what I'm going for in part two, and it will be soon.
Yep most people are only fooling themselves . Especially here at this program which I've been told is just like many others. Without a passion for it and tenacity most everyone fails. Not everyone can be the 5percent who make it. Sad thing is...everyone here thinks they will and they are wrong. Remember 95%. Only 5 out of every one hundred make the cut. Some will make it but never be successful like they want to be.
Only the members here that have the time, money and love a huge challenge with everything going against them each day will have a small chance at best.
I'm sorry that so many will fail here. I hate to even think that every day members pack it up here and disappear. Some will be glad they have been set free. Others will call the program a scam. Still others will go on to be successful at something else.
Can you work for two years full time without revenue to become a successful Affiliate Marketeer? I can.
Hi Rick it does happen a lot, thats were that 95% comes from, but I have higher hope for more members here, and part two will go into why that is. Best wishes on your endeavors.

I can relate to what you say. I've had similar experiences and have learned that perseverance pays off. The challenge is in recognizing when we are hitting our heads against a brick wall and when we just need to walk around the brick wall to get what we want. ~ Jude
