My First Affiliate Sale

Ok, so I've been here since December 2012. I finally achieved my first affiliate sale through Amazon. Yup, it came from a friend of mine, and yup, I had to sell or lead her to my website first! But she had no idea that I had a website, no idea that it was loaded with all the info that it has and no idea how much knowledge was at her or her soon-to-retire husband's fingertips.

Her and her husband are good friends of ours that recently have gotten into camping and we've had the opportunity to camp with them quite a few times in the past year. The point is, we also have several other couples that we go camping with and once she gets excited about my website, it should make it's way around the 'ol campfire.

Now, the cool thing is, the whole camping group is from our past church that we went to for over 5 years and many of them are in several of my social networks. Several of them also dabble with writing and attempted entrepreneurship.

I can see how one little sale that netted me 57 cents could turn into quite an interesting proposition just down the road.

A step at a time folks, just a step at a time... as Julesm said in her last blog, just KEEP GOING!!!

Congratulations!!! :-)

No matter how big or small in value, the first sale is always priceless!! ;-)

Thanks Viterbi! Totally priceless...you are right!!!

Just be sure that you try to sign them up first. If the idea gets to one then they are bound to recruit the rest. This has happened to me in other places not WA. So, if one gets hooked in the group all will know soon enough. Congrats on the sale. A sale is a sale no matter where it comes from!

Now that's some good wisdom. I'll definitely do that. We'll be hanging out with several of them shortly. I think I better get busy and start strategizing. Thank ya', Sherion, yup, a sale is a sale... in this case, a huge one for me!

Hope you get em all!

It's feels good right? Congrats....Nenita

Thank you, Nenita! Yup, it sure does and it also seems to open your mind to other niches. I can't figure it out, but now I look at things a little differently and wonder what keywords are available and domains and so forth! It's crazy but, I'm hooked!!

Congratulations on your first sale. I don't think it matters where it comes from, or how much, they say that first sale is what motivates you to keep going, and is the one sale you will always remember. Anyway, sound like you have a good group to network with, so I'm sure this is just the start. Again, congrats, and I'm sure another 57 cents is right around the corner, as they say, "baby steps", that's the only way I get anywhere.

Thanks Cindi, you are so right. Baby steps, minus exuses and distractions! Now it's starting to get exciting!!!

Let me tell you, I'm the queen of excuses. I've made every schedule in the world, and stuff always comes up, or I get sidetracked, or I just find something else I'd rather do, I have very little structure now that I'm retired.

I figured I'm just going to do things one day a week, like one day I'll work on WA, then another day I'll clean house, the next day I'll do crafts, or something fun, and do it like that. I figure if I give it an entire day, there's no way I'm going to make excuses for an entire day (I don't think), so there's really no more excuses this way, and no more having too much to do each day, I'll just concentrate on one thing a day, it's a plan anyway, we'll see how this one works out.

Anyway, right now I'm not even taking baby steps, so any steps at all will be more than I'm doing now. I need to make this fun, or I just won't do it. I figure I've worked myself to death, and don't want to do it anymore, so I need to make things manageable, and fun, if possible, at least at the beginning. Well, we''ll see how it works out, but I think doing it like this might just work for me, and maybe by next year, I'll make 57 cents too!

Ya' know with that profile of yours Cindi, you're probably pretty close to being an authority in many different areas. I'm thinking that by the time we get all the way through the two main courses here (Online Entrepreneur Certification and Boot Camp), the road should be a whole lot more level and the ideas should just flow consistently. But yeah, you're right too... we do have to have fun along the way. I'm hoping to find a lot of fun in the Boot Camp training when I get into it.

Yay! So happy for you :-)
And this is encouraging because I've been hear for approx the same amount of time (I think) and haven't yet made a sale. It's good to know I'm not necessarily doing anything wrong and that I shouldn't give up! So, thank you!

Ya' know Stephanie, I guess it just happens differently for everyone. We were just sitting around a campfire with some camping buddies and an incredible book that we've always used for camping came up and I just casually mentioned that they could find it on my webpage. Then last night a bunch of the younger crowd at church invited us to join them for a little hangin' out at a Denny's and come to find out, 3 of them are trying to learn HTML and I had an opportunity to share my website and hopefully W.A. with them. Sooooo, ya' never know when opportunity is going to strike. I just wish I hadn't have gotten distracted by the keyword issues early on in Level 1. I should have just pushed through like Kyle said to do and just concentrated on content. Content really is the secret! Best of luck here Stephanie... just keep moving... no excuses...

Kudos to you, Randy! I do feel like I'm getting closer to my first sale, too. You have given me the hope I need to be patient, stay diligent and keep moving forward.

Thanks for sharing your good news!
Marie

Thank you Marie. It's amazing how much inspiration and encouragement 57 cents can give ya'! LOL!!!

REALLY you mean all this stuff really works. That is awesome!! :O) onward and upward.

My sentiments exactly, Kymee!!!

Congrats. I know you've been working very hard on your site. This shows you're on the right path.

Thank ya' Rick... you've been a big help, hope you know that!

Congrats dude keep up the great work

Thank ya' Tommy! It's just good to know that the 'system' works... no doubt about it. (-:

Great to hear that you have got your first affiliate sale! I'm sure that your friend was surprised and happy to see that you had all the info that you do on the site. The feeling she had when she found all that info is the same feeling that others will have!

Keep working towards extending your reach in the search engines. To do this you want to be adding content to your website regularly. If you are writing articles, stop and focus 100% on your website content. The more reach you have, the more traffic, and the larger the audience of folks who find your helpful content. Many more people will buy through your site, so keep pushing forward :)

Carson

Wow, thanks Carson... it's always encouraging to hear from ya'! You kinda nailed me because I have been doing a few extra articles lately and that time could have been focused on content. Thanks for redirecting my focus there Carson, and thank you again for the encouragement and all those unseen things you two guys are always doing for us!
