My Current Progress - Ups and Downs

I started my website before coming to WA. I started out with the idea of just having a static site with affiliate links on it (because I read about it in a book and I was naive). I have learned that this just doesn't work.

I looked into Affilorama and stumbled on someones website reviewing the company. This is how I found out about WA.

Since coming to WA I have learned to target keywords so that I can get ranked in the search engines, and how to provide valuable content to my readers.

It has helped me get more traffic, and I even made my first 2 sales after only being with WA for a month or so.

My website is getting organic traffic, I have been posting consistently for 5 months, with only the last 2 or 3 of them using WA methods.

I have 107 posts, 10 pages and I get about 25 views/day.

I haven't had a sale in months. I had 2 sales right before Christmas (my first and only sales). This makes me wonder if I am not providing enough value....or maybe I just don't have enough traffic yet.

I have gotten better at writing, what used to take me days to write, now only takes me hours.

I keep getting new twitter followers and I have 150 likes on my Facebook page, things are moving slowly.

I feel good about what I am doing, but I also am discouraged and feel like something is wrong. I should be making more sales by now.

Some days it is hard for me to be motivated to write. I get bummed and wonder if it is all worth it. I think a lot about changing niches, trying something more targeted.

Some days I feel great about my efforts and I look forward to the eventual returns, knowing that I will not give up and will keep striving to be better.

I do hop that I make at least one more sale soon, I feel like my well is a little dry.....

I have made a goal to have 50 views/day over the next month, and I figure, when I get to 100 views/ day and if I am not making any sales, I will move on to a new niche.

A few very important things that lead to rankings and ultimately more traffic.

1. Keywords are the premise of all of your content. Ideally you will be finding keywords with a lower competition (also known as QSR) because it means that you are going to be competition with less websites in Google when you go to create your content.

I recently created training on how to come up with great keywords here and this is a strategy I have always used to build out my website Andrea ...

How to Get Keywords Ranked With Low Hanging Fruit

Once you have your keyword, you are going to create a page or a post on your website targeting that keyword. It should be within the following places in your content:

(1) Somewhere in the page/post title
(2) Somewhere within the first paragraph

And then write your content naturally and make sure it is engaging. People search "keywords" when they are looking for something so as you start getting ranked under these keywords, you are going to start to see traffic.

Once you have traffic...you have a ton of opportunity to generate revenue.

2. Engagement, engagement, engagement. It is very important that within your content you are getting engagement through "comments". This does not mean any old comment is good, this means that the dialogue should add to the overall discussion about the current topic.

This is very powerful for rankings in Google and other search engines.

Are you talking about your organic skin care site?

1. I recommend you watch this training and related ones to dig into where your traffic is coming from so you can capitalize on it: Analyzing Traffic For Content Ideas + Sales

2. I recommend you find more engaging titles. For example "Organic For Baby Skin" which is a current page on your site doesn't say much to a reader. "Why does my baby have pimples?" is a much more engaging, and much more specific.

Related to this, I think the subjects you write about could be more related to problems. You are posting about the 'solutions', ie avacado masks, organic toner, etc. But what questions are people asking where these products would be the solution to the problem.

3. I also see 3 ads in your sidebar. If ranking is an issue, or you are just starting out, I would opt for fewer ads in the side, and focus more on content for the time being.

Hope this helps!

thank you so much, I really appreciate the feedback, I will take your advice for sure :)

yes this is about my organic skin care site :)

I have a question, isn't the product the solution?

I am guessing you mean my posts should focus more on problems rather then being written about solutions.

So then would it be better to write about a problem and then link it to a different post about a solution (like a product review)?

Yeah, that's what I mean. Find 5-10 problems with 1 solution as the answer. Then you just link your problems to your solution, and you are now driving lots of traffic to your monetized post.

From the other questions you've answered you are doing things right and you're doing just fine

First off DO NOT buy backlinks as was suggested to you this is the worst thing you can do for your SEO and especially from fiverr.

Building and buying backlinks worked many years ago - but not any more - let them happen naturally. Paid links can and will harm the rankings of your website

Here's an article with Matt Cutts from Google why buying backlinks is a bad idea: http://www.groshblog.com/2010/12/according-to-matt-cutts-buying.html

Also I like you goal of 100 views per day - and strive for having targeted visitors.

And you already know that simply comes down to targeting the right low competition well searched keywords.

Personally I look for words with a competition of less than 200 and more than 50 searches.

As for sales it's a numbers game and I would hate to see you quit because things are not happening fast enough.

5 months is a drop in the bucket when you consider the time it takes to build an online business. Remember this is a marathon not a sprint.

And also do not focus on the money - if you keep doing that you wont make any money - focus on helping people - do that and the money will follow I guarantee it.

You are in a tough niche - the making money niche - but nothing worth while comes easy.

I'll simply ask you - is this niche a passion and something you can see yourself doing for years?

If so this is all part of the online world - things have there ups and downs - it's the successful people that work through the dips that become and stay successful.

I believe in you

thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it :) I will keep working at it!

You are making wonderful steady progress! Don't get discouraged! Perhaps if you would like, ask a couple of the senior members for feedback! I have one friend here who has asked Kyle and Carson on more then one occasion for feedback and they more then happy to help her. Carson is not available now but Kyle is! :)

thanks, I always hesitate to ask, because I know that they are busy :)

Don't hesitate! It may take a little longer to hear from someone like Kyle but he always answers! Usually in about 48 hours. Or you could ask one of the others. Craig and Nathaniell and Leo and Jay and some of the others are great about helping as well. Often you will even find one of them in live chat! :)

thanks, I PM some of them :)

Cool! :)

Hi,

Here are a few things that come to my mind:

1) Do the keywords you are targeting have a lot of searches?
2) Are you genuinely interested in the topic?
3) Are you just lacking enthusiasm due to lack of sales?
4) Or have you actually run out of things to write about?

If 1,2 and 3 are false but 4 is true, maybe it's time to move on to another niche.

If 2 and 3 are false but 1 and 4 are true, it might be worth trying to build backlinks. If you have just a tiny bit of money spare, maybe look on Fiverr for some people who will build you high quality backlinks. As for social media exposure, it might be worth taking a look at http://viralcontentbuzz.com - there you can find other people in a similar niche and retweet and like their content, earn credits, then get people to retweet and like your stuff. Could be good for extra exposure.

If 3 is true, maybe look into guest blogging for other websites in your niche. Type into Google something like:
- Your Niche "write for us"
This will bring up websites in your niche that are actually looking for guest writers. It's not guaranteed that they will let you link back to your site, but some of them might. Make sure you write excellent content though.

Edit:
I just took a quick look at your website. At first glance, it looks rather good, and seems like a targeted niche. It looks like there is a lot of good content on there (I didn't read through it, but that's the impression I get just from a quick look at it). If you are genuinely interested in this niche, I would stick with it. I notice that your website doesn't have any page rank, so I think my advice above about backlinks and social media exposure are the direction you should be moving in. Although others may have slightly different advice about how best to go about that kind of thing.

Thanks for your reply. To answer your questions, I say:
1. I am targeting keywords with lower searches because I am going for keywords with low title competition.
2.yes I am genuinely interested in this topic
3. yes I am lacking enthusiasm because of a lack of sales
4. no I have not run out of things to write about

My personal opinion is that I think you are on the right path. Your website has lots of content and it seems to be helpful (naturally I didn't read it all)

My suggestion would be to add some how to videos to your site. This is at the stag I am. I am learning more about video marketing and will have some on my site soon as well submitted to Youtube. Do some videos of how to apply makeup correctly, or take one of your many many articles and do a screen cast of the content as well as having the copy in your post.

I was also going to ask you about your optin ebook you are offering. Have you developed a list of any kind yet? Do you have faithful followers? You could do a survey and ask them what it is that they would like to see your site improve on or what are the top two things you like or dislike about your XYZ or your ABC product, etc, etc, etc,

And if you really do have a lot of people on your list I really do think this the ticket to affiliate marketing. Yes we can get sales for our sites from organic searches but developing a list of faithful people egar to follow your advice is when they will usually buy more often. I am also at this point trying to build my list. I am going through training over at Get Response and there program is telling me I can get 1000 people on my list in 90 days (or maybe even more)

Well anyway, hang in there and if it were me I would not change niches just add something more to your niche within the niche.

My last suggest for you is to PM Kyle with all you said here in your post and I can pretty well promise you he will have the proper direction for you even if it does take a few more months.

See Ya at the TOP,

Randy

thanks for your reply :) I am building a list but currently only have 8 subscribers. I would like to get a different e-book to give away, something with more allure.
Doing videos is something I have thought of, I will look more into it.
Thank you :)
