A Quick Note to My New WA Friends

Hi everyone! I know that this area is specifically designed for us to write and share real articles and blogs; however, I can't think of any other way to send out a note that will reach all of you; I would rather write you all individually, but I'm afraid that at this time in my life, time is something that I don't have enough of. So, I am writing this blog to make sure that I touch base with each of you, but also, to save time too.

I just want to say thank you because this is the nicest community I have worked with in a long time---both in Cyber world and the real world. I can't tell you all how much I am enjoying this new venture, and as all of you said, it is addicting and awesome. We are all in agreement that WA ROCKS! I've only been a member since the first week of July, and like many of you, I'm learning so much with every new task I achieve. I could work on this 24-7, and for the most part, I've made this my main source of "R & R" time, work time, social time, and late night time! Just like all of you, I want to be successful with my website to the point that I can replace my income and work from home.

So, with saying that, I want to apologize to many of you because I haven't had the chance to formally welcome you here, to WA, and I haven't had an opportunity to meet you professionally by reading up on your profiles. During my first 4 weeks, if someone was trying to find me (at my house), the only place to look is right here in front of my laptop. I don't even have a tan this summer, and I'm Italian! I tan just driving my car, but not this time. I was able to write many of you and to jump in on conversations up until a few days ago.

Because my current career is in Education, and I am a teacher, I've enjoyed the summer for the time to use on this. Of course, my 7 year old has a good grasp on my daytime hours, I've been able to indulge in the late hours. However, now, I have about 2 more weeks that I can dedicate myself to getting a head-start on my content and the project that I'm doing for the content; my site is based on my home remodeling project, so I've had to step away from the computer--or at least away from the wonderful training videos and blogs, to conduct research for the "first phase" of my project.

So, this is the reason that I've missed out on emailing each of you. If this is a good way to drop in and say "Hi" to you all once in a while--and if you don't mind the "blog" format/setting-- then I may use this option a lot while I'm remodeling and teaching and building this website. I'll try very hard, though, to make sure to respond to you if you PM me or send me a personal shout-out.

I just want to make sure that I explained myself! I am sure glad to have all of you--my new WA friends--in my life and walking alongside me as we accomplish this goal. I hope you all are having great success, and if I can lend an answer or any help, please let me know!

Sincerely,

Diana

Glad to hear that you're enjoying WA so much. It is a great community.

Hey BIS--I hope I'm getting this right, but didn't you ask for feedback on your site? Because I know someone did, and I wrote it down on my notes....but....I can't find them! So, now, I can't remember exactly who it was, so if it's you, I didn't forget, but I need the site address. And if it's not you, I"ll go check out your site if you want! : ) Just send it back!

Yes, I'm really enjoying this a lot! In my life, I appear to others to make "snap" decisions. Like my college, for instance. That's a major decision, right? All my friends were spending months prior to graduation, looking around, going with their parents every where around Michigan. I was accepted to Eastern Michigan, Wayne State University, Oakland University--and that's not because I was some brain or anything like ....I was mediocre. I didn't really get passionate about learning until College, and that was Marygrove College---set in the worst part of Detroit, one of the most dangerous placed! haha..It's campus is BEAUTIFUL and used to be an all CAtholic, GIRLS college until the early 1970s. It only had about 1,500 students, most of whom were older women, and I mean much older than I ....many of my classmates were in their 50s and 60s---in the music program, and in the English department, there were more younger students, but only about 30/35 total. I was also the minority for the first time in my life and I LEARNED SO MUCH! And the best people in my life are those I met from Marygrove...the younger students were mostly exchange students and those from the surrounding neighborhood. All of us still hang out today..including the professors!

I visited the campus for one day. I looked at my mom and said, "I'm going here."

And that's how I do everything. I feel it through...if it feels right, I know it's right, and in my life, it's always worked out. The only time I fall on my face is when it doesn't feel right. Oh, and that's happened...on stage a few times too!

I guess what I'm saying is that this IS it for me now. I feel that I'll be doing this business for the next chunk of my life.

Sorry to ramble! I'm just feeling like sharing tonight, I guess!
Anyway, let me know if it's you who put out the word for people to check out your site! I will do it for sure!

: )

Happy Night and Great Dreams,
Diana

Hi Diana, glad to see you having a great time here and making progress. Going back to teaching will eat away a lot of your time, but you seem like one that knows all about how important it is to set a little time aside for your: (wait for it)..."your HOMEWORK"

Wow, I just got to tell a teacher to do her homework - isn't that amazing!

Seriously, it sounds like you're doing well and going about things in the right way, and yes, I don't mind receiving emails in this form since I keep my notification settings switched on.

Incidentally, I tan easily too and for the same reasons.

Ciao!

Ciao, il Potso Treno! (hahah..that's your name in Italian! can you speak it?) Well, it really says, "The Crazy Train!" haha...

And yes! You got to tell me to do my homework, and let me tell you, I've been horrible at it! Mostly because of the things I've mentioned already, not feeling well. And when you don't feel right, teaching in front of 8th graders, man, they smell it. They fish you out like a the whales do....they are relentless! haha...their kids! It's been tough these last couple of years, but mostly because of the political game they've going on here in Michigan. They are eating the teachers alive here. It's happening all over the country, though---Wisconsin, New York, Chicago....they have their eyes feasted on the public education system and our Governor Snyder has been working with our Superintendent and our Board of Ed principle---literally their ongoings can be researched; their not even being secretive about it and still my colleagues can't see it. They're going to privatize my district....and soon....I really need to get out of there before it happens....but anyway, that's another site and another topic.

However, mio amico d'Italiano, if I do what Betcha up there made me think of--go half time---I can still do this FULL TIME!! hahaha....wait till my husband hears this one tomorrow morning! hahahahah....oh boy!

(however, I'm a Sicilian Scorpio--and I WILL go half time if I want! hahahaha)

Ciao!!

PS....
what part of Italy?
Last name if you don't mind....we could be related, you know..my last name (maiden) is Balsama, from Messina, Sicily...my mom's side is from Roselli...small town near Rome...it's what my project is based on/the website documents my remodel of my grandmother's house--she was a farmer and I own the house now....going to to all Tuscan and Italian Countrysides...

Ok....tell me more Crazy Train!

All right now, and OMG!

I guess I really got someone going this time, and you got me half way out of the closet, but not quite all the way, I hit door frame on the way out (hardy har!) but hey its all good. I guess I can post a few bits of info for now. My Italian heritage comes from my late mothers side who's maiden name was Sacconi and lived in a little town in the northern part called Vigonza (if I remembered the correct spelling) which is in the province of Padova not far from Venezia.

My late father was Swiss (sorry but I'm not really comfortable giving my last name online, but in the "half way out of the closet " spirit: my given name's Joe, but I gotta say, I'm quite liking the sound of "il Potso Treno). Anyway, betweenmy father being Swiss and my mom's maiden name being different, it's not likely were related, but then you can't really rely on last names alone as real proof now, can we? Well, you look a lot better than I do so we must not be related (LOL)

As for my ability to speak Italiano, I must consider it in the "lack there of" category, oh, I Know the odd word or phrase but not much more. however ,I can make a pretty mean pasta ragu, which I picked up from mother so I guess not all is lost.

Anyway, it's good to know you and consider you "mia amica" (I do hope I said that right)

Good luck with the halftime/fulltime/teacher/internet - marketeer

Hi Diana,

Don't we all wish we could squeeze 48 hours into 24! Glad you're here with us at WA.

Eric

Tell me about it! Thanks for reading and responding!

You are probably using a lot of common sense going the right way about it to be honest. Certainly no need to apologise and I think most of us know that teaching is time consuming anyway.

I have made a point of thanking everybody who has followed me personally but I am struggling to find the time sometimes, and will have a lot less in the weeks to come as I begin work on my website

1

Yes, Coolcity, exactly. And you know if we all don't mind chatting this way, then it benefits us all because we all can jump in and anything we want to say, we can say it at once. And there is a real importance of going to everyone individually, and I'm going to work on doing that starting tomorrow...maybe like 5 people a day or something like that. I just think that this part of it has some kind of magic --I believe so much in energy and that the energy we create as a massive group is tremendously powerful for all. Know what I mean?

But anyway, thank you for responding and for reading! I'll be back!

: )

Yes very much so, the positive vibes on here make a big difference especially for those who are not brimming with confidence to begin with. That's one of the big differences between WA and most other places I have seen.

good to hear from you Diana. I have made my first blog post but my site needs a lot more work

1

Hey there! You are my Michigan friend...oh...I hope my political banter up there doesn't offend you!

That's awesome that you at least did your first post! I am still working on that, but as I said, it's like I am working on it even when I'm learning about painting or creating an antique wall....hahah....I'm a singer, not an interior designer, so this is seriously ALL new for me! And I'm loving it so much!

Anyway, thanks for reading and responding! Keep me posted on everything. I may have to ask you some questions about posts....but first I'm going to try some things out and then if I'm still confused, I'll start digging.

Take care!

Thats very nice of you and yes if this way works then do it....no need to apologise

1

Thanks for the feedback, Mikey B! I'm glad every one has been so positive about it! Hope all is well with you and let me know how you are doing with your site!

That's really nice of you to take the effort to reach out to others :) all the best with your site!

1

Thanks, Johari! And thank you for reading and responding! Good luck in your endeavors!

aaargh Diana, my site looking good, everyone says it good and £0 lol, so I learnt to play a new pink floyd song on my lovely fender acoustic I call 'November' lol

Great post, and a great way of reaching out to us all. No need to apologise as we all know what it is like to be busy as you get started here. Good luck with your site,
Hudson.

1

Hey Hudson, thanks for the feedback! I'm glad that I tried it out because everyone is so positive and actually, it's kind of cool to have us all talk at this time....but I'll post some real articles in the near future too..I just don't know what we can post...do you? I mean, can we post literally any kind of topic?

Hi there. In this blog you can post any type of topic that you think will be useful or informative to WA members. As I am sure you know it cannot be promotional or it will be taken down ( by this I mean a direct sell of something from your web site or wherever). Other than that write away. I must confess to not writing many blog posts here. Usually I focus on my own site but occasionally when I stumble upon something which I think others might not have seen I write it up.
Hope this helps
Hudson.

Great to meet you here

1

Thank you, Travellers! And you as well!

Works for me. Time is a precious commodity to most, I believe. Smiles, O
