My name is Diana; born under the sign of Scorpio with Aquarius Rising, I am entering into one of my most creative, reflective phases of my life's journey so far. I love Michigan summer nights and thunderstorms; I love every song off Bob Seger's "Night Moves" album, and I feel one with the Universe when I'm sitting on, or near, any body of water.

The most connected I've ever been was when I spent a summer on the beaches of the Mediterranean Straight--sitting on the ocean's edge in the backyard of the house in which my father grew up, in Messina, Sicily. The warmth and mellow air of Rosselli, a tiny, beautiful, Italian countryside town—only 40 minutes from Rome-- fills my mother's home town, and gently guided me, providing me hours of reflection to think about life; I drafted ideas about where I was going and how I wanted to get there. "There" was over a decade ago, and now, I understand the importance of that time, connecting with my heritage-- a trip I took with both of my grandmother's--and indeed, a trip back into time. It was then that I learned the importance of embracing change and creating the outcomes we desire in our minds so that our actions will follow in step. The new changes I am embracing now have led me here, where I am taking full advantage of all that WA has to offer, creating my first site, "Bella Casa Mia: Tuscany." I will bring back the warmth and textures and the beautiful ocean of romantic Italy as I document the remodeling of the house that belonged to my grandmother, honoring her spirit and love of the earth.

I graduated Marygrove College in Detroit (1994) with a Bachelors of English, (concentration in Secondary Education) and a Minor in Music, (concentration in Vocal Performance.) Although I graduated Cum Laude, I was asked to speak at my graduation in the spring of 1994. At that time in my life, it was the scariest performance I ever had to prepare. (It was also the highest honor in my life until the birth of my one and only child, Francesca, 11 years later.) Those importance years I spent on my beloved, Marygrove College campus, with the 3-hour dorm-dinners—all of us jammed in around the large tables, arguing world politics in Denk Champman Hall, and the lazy, summer days, spread out and relaxing on the wooded grounds of the old, majestic campus, sharing “stone-soup” weekly picnics with those of us left behind for the long recess---those years brought the best people into my life, and they are forever the voices in my head—my teachers, professors, friends. I will embrace those years again, thanks to WA, as I develop my second site," Under My Favorite Tree," allowing myself to fall back in love with the power of writing.

I have been singing and performing in and around the Detroit area for many years, with my first television appearance in 1985, (14 years old); I played several roles in Detroit’s famous, "The Nutcracker Ballet," under the direction of the late, Iacab Lascu; we performed 15 shows at the newly renovated, FOX THEATRE (1989,) and from there, I have gone on to perform in numerous bands; currently, I am working with my songwriter partner and band mates to introduce our new project, EVERY LAST DAY. Working with WA will give me the tools and skills I need to market our music properly while learning to grow a larger fan base.

I began my teaching career in 1994 in Michigan’s 2nd largest school district, where I was a student from the 8th grade until high school graduation. Michigan's new Education Reform Laws have caused a bitter taste in my mouth for the job that I once loved so much and was so grateful for having since I could be so creative every day. Now, the politics have changed, and the classrooms are no longer a place for creativity, ingenuity, innovation. Unfortunately, my job forces me to use what I call “scripted” lesson plans, and they ultimately encourage redundant repetition and teaching to a test---a curriculum that breeds an atmosphere that most definitely goes against my passionate and zesty philosophies in teaching. I have always been proud of the quality of Michigan’s Public Education System, and with the help of WA, I’ll be putting together an important site that will encourage people to learn more about the politics of education. (Peace X Piece )

Finally, I am a preeclampsia survivor, only now just learning the severe side effects that can linger for years if untreated; only in recent years has medical research begun to unveil the mysteries of this disease which has plagued too many women across the globe with no answers to satisfy their questions. This most serious topic is very close to my heart, and it is time, now, as I sit on the ocean’s edge in my mind to begin to draft out the content for this site, (along with other life-lessons) "Life’s A Garden, Dig."

“Now” is a juicy and sparkling time in my life, and my passionate Scorpio and activist Aquarius are making me thirsty for all of the exciting adventures that WA will bring into my world; I am thrilled to be aware of all of this happening because I have a place in which to lay down these thoughts and ideas. Life is filled with change and experiences and I am here to share, grow and learn with the WA community.
Here I go!

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

Right now, I keep getting stuck writing too long.....so thank you so much as it gives me more confidence to take myself seriously as I writer! How is it going for you?

It is going great for me so far, the training is awesome and I will be going yearly on 10/24/13.

Since you love to write so much, the website you build should be easy to fill with content. I look forward to visiting your site when you get it up.

I'm still working on mine as well.

Wow! You can really write - keep it up! Deep down I feel like we are a lot alike. I just haven't written much yet on WA. Yes, I'm a Michigander or Michiganian, as you may say. The best state ever, eh? Had to stick in the "eh" since it's so close to Canada. My hometown: Ann Arbor Hope to hear more from you. I wonder if we know the same people....mmm?

Hi there! (Did I say that Michigan is the best state ever? If I did...well....I certainly am not feeling that way these days with our governor who is dismantling our education system over here! ) If I sound bitter, I guess I am since this state used to be one that embraced intellectuals and creativity...now....well....let's say, stick to "eh" as it's definitely better there! I love Ann Arbor, by the way, and that town has and always will be diverse and unique, probably, due to the university. I have been performing music for almost as many years as I've been alive, so maybe we do know some of the same of people?

Pdhquizman (is it quizman?), yeah, please do! Send me what you have on this! I find the new Preeclampsia.org site to be seriously helpful; I just got off of a year medical year and my preeclampsia has everything to do with. I'm still "testing," but regular doctors don't know enough; my neurologist does, and he has been great, but he can only test what his discipline/facility allows. I have great insurance, so that isn't the issue. Anyway, it's very frustrating trying to live and trying to just enjoy life properly when ever time I turn the corner, my exhaustion is affecting me and because of that, my grades don'g get done, and because of that, my articles get pushed to the back of the line, and then even my remodeling has been put on "pause" for a few days here and there.

I know that Preeclampsia is the culprit to the issues I have now, but it's hard when doctors are in the dark about this stuff. So, anything you have, I'd greatly appreciate! And how nice of you to offer it in the first place! Is there a reason why you researched that? Or was it for your site solely? Tell me more!

So, if you read my bio, then you know that my one grandmother is from very close to where you were; Frosinone Provincia---near Mount Casino--I was there for a month before I went south to Messina, Siciliy.....I just loved it there! What brought you there? Military? Oh--and Greece!! How beautiful! And Peter--sorry--I didn't realize your name---and that's funny!! aaaah another passionate musician/writer/descriptive kind. I have been looking for you. (Lol) Welcome to WA. Thanks for the follow and support. Reading your introduction/about me section, I feel like I have known you my whole life. You have a natural knack for writing and creating mental pictures; and you probably talk too much in person hahaha (that's what people tell me; and I hope you sense the humor and sarcastic undertone in this and don't deem me rude) I would love to chat more about this and chatting about all niches music somewhere down the road once I get my bearings :)
Reply
Diana-dmbn Premium
Hey Rosie!! HAHAHA...I absolutely do not think you rude, and YES! I DO TALK TOO MUCH! hahaahaha....I am really trying, though, to change some of that! I want to keep my creativity, my "bubbly," my passion, but I need to be more of a listener....do you think it's possible? : )

You probably think that since it's been a month and I didn't respond that I was mad! I hope not! I am actually working on the website, though, because I am remodeling my house (as the bio states)--my grandmother's house--in the Tuscan/Italian Countryside theme, I am literally learning a million things as I paint on "old-world" walls and pull up carpeting (well, my husband is really doing the pulling; I'm just saying where to pull it! ); I'm moving from the back of the house to the front, and we are literally redoing every single thing that we can from big stuff to small. So, here I am, just back to work off of summer break--I teach 9th grade and 8th grade English---in a very stressful building as we just have been labeled a "focus" school, and that is an entirely different story, and it will be its own website too, but here I am: teaching, writing lessons and grading, painting and of course, I am researching everything for price and "how to" and getting materials---all of this "start up" feels like I'm not doing anything at all. However, all of these last 6 weeks will be turned into real articles, and I hope (I hope!) that the articles will be the seed that finally starts some real traffic.

I know that with my day job, my music, my projects--my family I know it seems very daunting, but honestly, I LOVE IT!

I would love to hear about you!! You, obviously, are like me!! So bring it, Rosie! I want to know about you from you! What's your niche? How is your business coming along? Let's please keep in touch!

Have a great Saturday....

Your new friend,
Diana

That is so cool! Crazy Train!! How is he? I was gone for a while--not gone--but just working on my remodeling and that takes time when I am returning back to work to teach 8th/9th grade English, plus I have my own 7 year old. Like my bio says....it is all the truth! And all of my life's endeavors are coming to a "head" at this time in my life, and it is so true (sorry for all this "truth!" haha) that I am supposed to be doing something now with my life differently than ever before (for me.) This new business---my website/online business is where I know I'm supposed to land---to create the foundation. So, I had to leave my articles and community in order to start creating my "old-world" walls in the Master bedroom; I finished my daughter's room....and now I'm finishing up the master bedroom so that I can get into the real, cool projects like counter tops and cupboards, etc.

You grew up in Italy???!! That's so cool! So, from your email, I can't tell if you are Italian, born there and that's why you grew up there, or if you are American and you grew up there because your parents had a job that took you there...? You most definitely have to tell me more!! Thanks for dropping in and let's please stay in touch!

Hi Diana!!! Welcome to WA! You will find this is a very supportive community.
You wrote a great introduction. Like you, I am from Michigan too, and I used to work for an Engineering company located near Detroit (9 Mile Rd)..... in the old days 1980s ;-) I love that city!

First I want to say, I like your writing style. It's so colorful and descriptive... one of those I can't stop reading it styles.!!!!!!

I'm going to follow you because you seem very interesting, and I'm certain you will succeed here.... PLUS.. I have a few things in common with you. However, I will probably never eat that Rock Soup stuff.. what is that anyways?? ;-p

Ok, again; Welcome to WA and if you need anything just ask!

Randy! You don't know what "Stone Soup" is? No..I didn't say "Stoned" soup either! hahaha...Rock soup...you said Rock soup! haha..but you know, you just gave me a great idea for a theme show concept! "Rock Soup!' Like a medley of Detroit Rock bands...all different kinds of Rock, but Rock! THANK YOU! I am gonna pass that on to my band next week!

Ok, "Stone Soup" is just a literary term--pertains to one of those stories that has been passed down from generation to generation---teaches a lesson in life; some people may call it something else, but the gist of the story is that it's set during the French Revolution, and all of the people are starving and hungry; there is this little village, and one day, a soldier come straggling through. He knocks on a door, and he tells the family that he is starving and has nothing can they help..etc. Of course, the people say that they have nothing either, and that they can't help him. They slam the door in his face. He then goes to every house in this little village, and everyone says the same thing.

So, the soldier walks to the center of the town--the Town Square, and he takes off his nap sack, and he digs down deep and he's quite dramatic because he knows that all of the villagers are spying through the windows, curious to know what is this stranger doing in their town square. He takes out a pot (soldiers would have these cooking utensils), and he goes and gets water from the nearby well; he creates a fire for his pot of water, and then when he's got it just right, he reaches back into his sack and pulls out this great, big, shiny rock. He carefully places his rock into his pot of water, which is starting to boil, and then, he pulls out this great, big wooden spoon. He begins to stir his "soup" and he pretends to smell the aroma---acting as if it's the best soup in France. (Now, remember, the townsfolk are watching, and they are really getting curious.)

Finally, a brave villager walks out of his house (he just take the it anymore and needs to know is this soldier making), and he goes over to the soldier and asks him what is he making.

The soldier responds, " I'm making Stone Soup, and while this is the best soup in all of France, if only I had some onions....then it would REALLY be the best soup in all of France. So, the man says, "Well, hold on a second....I just might have an onion or two..." and he quickly runs back to his house and returns with tons of onions!

The soldier drops the onion in the soup....stirs it....smells it...and says, " Well, this is a fine soup, but....if only we had some carrots! Carrots would really make those onions taste even better..."

And then...can you guess?
Well, the soldier ended up with onions, carrots, celery, potatoes, and even chicken...for just a big ol' pot of chicken soup. The moral: when we all work together, great things happen!

At school, during my college years, there was a woman who had come from North Dakota; she was older than us younger dorm students, and she was also one step away from becoming a nun. She decided against it because she felt that the Catholic nuns these days are way too comfortable in their living: she believed that if she were to be a nun, she should live a very simple, only necessities kind of life; however, the convents these days have all of modern day conveniences, even cars. (Well, they need to get around, too, right?) We would always have these huge debates with her about this line of thinking...anyway, she stayed on in the summer, like I had with some of my friends, and in the summer, we had to fend for ourselves for food; the dorm cafe was closed. So, basically, we started this weekly things where we would all meet for a large picnic (if weather was good) and we'd all share food--Eileen, our older friend, refused to join us at first because she didn't have anything to offer--which is really why we started this in the first place; we knew that she would fast all summer due to no money for food, so at least we knew she was getting a really good meal a week; finally, she agreed to join us ONLY if she could clean up--it was her contribution and she would n't partake without that clause! So....that is my "Stone Soup" Story! : ) Now...I bet you, too, have had ROCK soup! hahaha....

Are you sorry you asked?

Randy--thank you for the follow and for giving me more confidence! I will follow you right back, my fellow Deeeeeeetroiter! I love the D! I really do...I hope that I don't disappoint you with your predictions! I really have to make this work, as I'm not getting any younger, and I want to see this project through to the end. Stepping outside the box is scary, and I don't want to get lazy or to fall behind on this. But I have to say, this is different! Well...not so different for me--I mean, that it's been a long time since I've been this excited about something to create. (we can talk about that later!)

Thank you for the writing compliments as well; now, onto you!

You are an engineer? And I know 9 mile....are you talking about 9 mile and East Detroit area...like the East side...Gratiot, Groesbeck area? Where are you now? And you said, "back in the 80s...." haha.....like you are really old! haha..how old? If you don't mind me asking....lol...I'm old! But I love it!

So, where exactly from Michigan were you born? I love that there is another Wolverine on this forum....there is another guy on my "follow' who is from West Bloomfield, too....

Well, now that I've really written too much...again.....I will end it! Thank you for the welcome! I am going to have lots of questions, and I'll take you up on that offer. Right now, I'm doing what I KNOW Kyle and Carson would say not to do..but as an English teacher/songwriter/writer, my brain has to draft it all out---old-school on paper first---then I am taking too much time before I actually post....but this site is following my remodeling project, so I'm right at that point where it's all the prep work, getting the supplies....getting things packed up...picking colors..on and on..it's awesome, though. I've never really thrown myself into this kind of thing and I really love it, but I don't want to get behind on posting...and that is where I am right now. I've been saying, "I'll have that done in a day" for the last 10 days! It stops now! No matter what, I'm not sleeping tonight till more is up on the site!

Hey--any ideas on a good theme to use with Wordpress? I am confused with that stuff a bit.....I like my theme, but every menu option uses the same picture, the picture I picked for my the actual first page of the site---you know--the "home" page...but every menu tab, like "About" and the "Privacy" page is coming up with the home page pic. Any suggestions? Should I be thinking linear instead of horizontally? I guess the website is moving in a scrolling down movement....but I thought I'd have menu options with different main pictures for each of those....does your website allow that? Or is this the way Wordpress is?

Randy, thank you for reading all of my blabber! I am sorry if I wrote too much! Had to tell you the "Stone Soup" story though! Just had to!

: )

Talk to you soon!
Rockin' out in the D,
Diana

Gosh , Diana, you come across as a fireball!
My first site I am calling SlimmingWith Christine, but it is not published yet and has no content. I am working on about me and privacy policy is saved on my desktop and needs editing. I have ideas and a testimonial from my secretary that I want to use. I am not terribly technical but I am learning.
In the meantime I am being side tracked a bit looking at affiliate marketing using PPC.I am hoping to make some money that way. I am waiting to have my first product approved for advertising.
Hm.. This pre-eclampsia is probably not a single disease entity. You have quite an interesting collection of preeclampsia cases there. I would say most unusual. But I am not a Gynaecologist and therefore not aware of latest research information. I would have to invest quite a bit of time to find out what is current When I trained they taught us that preeclampsia is more common in young mothers and Primips (women pregnant for the first time) and it has varying degrees of severity. It is linked to the placenta not functioning properly. In my case it was an early calcified placenta, which led to water retention( at least 10 Kg of my weight was water) and high blood pressure, protein in the urine and stress in the baby. I was induced at 37 weeks( which is considered term in the medical profession) and Christian was delivered 24 hours later by emergency Caesarian. He then spent a few days in the incubator under UV light because he was jaundiced.
I went home after a week and then still lost more than 5 kg of water.
Baby weighed 3 kg and wore premmie clothes at the beginning, but he was healthy and has not any problems. He is now at University doing a BSC( Bachelor of science).
I have an 11 year old daughter who is in grade 5. I did have a second son who would have been 19 now, he died 7 years ago from Asthma. Asthma an d Allergies are family afflictions.
Oh, and I like music too, love it in fact( mainly classical), I play the recorder. My son has had proper teaching and plays the French Horn. He has grade 8 Royal Schools and plays for the University. If Music was a more lucrative career he would have considered studying it. Pity. But he he still young, who knows where life will take him.

Hi Christine!
Well, I just learned a lot from you, and you really do sound like a doctor! You know, my pregnancy was my first, and so that makes sense that I could be in that category....my doctors never mentioned it being an issue with placenta, but it does make sense; they said that there were several theories, and none really being "THE" one, but they said that some research shows that it has to do with the woman's body rejecting the combination of her DNA/eggs mixing with the man's sperm/DNA....the stuff that makes babies! haha..oh man, I DON'T sound like a doctor, right? hahaha..sorry! I don't know how to say i! But you know what I mean...I hope!! hahaha!

I can totally relate to everything you are saying! And you know my story so I won't write you another 3-page novel!

It must be an exciting time for your son, and for all of you as he begins this new phase of life. Now, forgive me if you have already mentioned it, and I missed it in our blogs here, but you said, "He is now at University..." and at least as far as I know ---in the states that I've been in America, we (Americans) never say "University" without the infinitive form; I've always noticed that Europeans and Australians--ahaha..well....everyone else in the world says it the way you did, and of course, we Americans trash the language--muck it up with all the extra prepositions and verbals! hahah....so....am I right? Are you not from the States? (God, I'll feel stupid if I've guessed wrong!haha)

My sister and I were the same as your son and your daughter; when I left for college, she was just in the 6th grade. The only time I ever was able to actually leave our house and go to school with her was when I was doing my internship at her high school, my alma mater too, and I student there for a full semester. She hated it! haha..I loved it! She was embarrassed that her sister was the new "student teacher," and she wouldn't even speak to me unless, of course, she needed lunch money, which was almost every other day. Now, my little sister is the only one in the family to always have extra cash! Anyway, I always wanted a sister to go to school with, buy my mom had me in 1970, and then my sister, Maria, wasn't born until 1977. So, it was always like being an only child....sort of....but for my Francesca, my 7 year old, she is an only child, and will be. I just didn't start feeling even a little better until she was like 4 or 5....and with my age, and the history of the preeclampsia, it was determined by doctors that it would be very high risk, and that the baby would most definitely be "preemie," (Francesca was 2 months early...I said that, right?)

I always feel bad that I can't give my daughter a sibling; if it had been a situation where only my husband worked and we didn't need my salary, then I probably would have done it---bed ridden, probably, but without working everyday, that would be doable.

I'm sorry to hear about your second son. It is hard to imagine a parent losing a child....Gosh..I really am sorry to read that....and many people don't realize how dangerous Asthma is and can be. I don't have asthma, but as I had explained in my earlier message to you, both of my lungs filled with water very quickly during my pregnancy...not being able to breath is very difficult for me to describe...but I have panic attacks that mimic that night--not being able to breath....at all...when it comes on, it's frightening.

Oh, how I know the woes of a musician! For years, I've been writing songs and singing and performing.....but for me, I believe that because I created a "real job" and went on to get my teaching certificate, my top love--I loved teaching too, but music is the first love of mine--it was like I was having this very deep, passionate relationship with one, and then I took in another--investing time, money and attention to the other---"my music" as the way I say it--well, my music just took a second seat. It was still a good seat, and I performed all over the Detroit area for years, but I treated it as the second job, and not THE job. Everyone is different, and we all have our own way of looking at things, but for me, I believe so strongly that the energy we are, we think, we feel, we do---our consciousness---our thoughts---all of that stuff that happens in our heads when we are visualizing our future lives--all of that energy conspires with the Universe/God, and then, that which we see in our minds becomes our realities. With a career in music, art, freelancing---anything that is different from the normal 9-5, 30 years and out-routine, is going to cause confusion because society says so...and therefore, our skills in controlling our thoughts and energy in order to have it work with our own passions is detrimental.

(Again--this is the way I am, and I know it's not the same for others....) Anyway, I think that music never blossomed for me because I invested my "real job" energies to the actual day gig--teaching. Now, 17 years later, I feel empty in the classroom....only because the politics have played a major role in Michigan in terms of killing public education and tying the hands of all teachers. They took the creative autonomy we used to have and threw it out! There is just too much going on with all of that to explain; however, for me, the creativity was what kept me loving teaching and not feeling so bad that my music hasn't left the Detroit area...yet..... : )

Now, you know, your son actually has a better chance now-a-days at succeeding monetarily with his music due to the online business take-over. Now, musicians are taking their careers in their own hands, learning how to book them selves, getting the recording done much cheaper now, and the use of websites is monumental for their (and mine!) success. Now, there's no more record company-conglomerates, where they and only they have the secrets to getting a song out. Now, an artists has the world at their fingertips. All they have to know how to do is "market" themselves...right?

If your son is good, and he loves it, if I may offer advise, I think that while he works on his BSC, he could build his website with his music.....I bet that could be very lucrative! You could help him! : ) Eventually, I'll be building my band's website (Every Last Day), and I think I'm going to host it on this platform. What do you think? I haven't noticed many musicians.....I assume it could work, though...right?

Christine, you mentioned "published," and that made my stomach startle a bit. Are you referring to how we "publish" our articles when we are done--like when we have our final copy and we want to post it to our page/post on our site? Is there something else we need to do in order to protect the content and material we post on our sites, or is it that when we click "publish," by the simple fact that we posted it, is it considered ours and published unless someone challenges it?

In music, we copyright songs and melodies and music, and I'm sure you know all about that. However, it's a real process, and you have to pay per item you send in; now, of course, we can do it simply online; back in the day, and when I copywrote my first song at the age of 13, we had a tedious form to fill out...it was complicated to me..but I have copywritten many of my of my songs this way.

I haven't finished going through all of my courses on WA, and like you, I've been side-tracked, as you know...but I was hoping that there would be some lessons that discuss how our sites actually get money
into our hands and bank accounts. Like, do we need to have an actual business/LLC? I would assume that if the website is making you monthly income, it needs to be documented in some way...right?

If you know more about this, can you shed some light for me? I would really appreciate it!

Well, I must move back to my articles and rough drafts! Good writing to you!

Thank you for sharing your stories with me, as well! I look forward to hearing back from you when you have some time!

Hi Diana!
you come across as extremely creative and I wish you all the success acquiring new skills. I also had Preeclampsia with my first child who was delivered 3 weeks early by Caesarian Section. The other two pregnancies went very well and I had two normal deliveries after the Caesar. I am fine now and my firstborn has just celebrated his 23rd Birthday.

Hi Christine,

Well, first, thank you so much for nice compliment! I don't know if it's my hormones, but I have NEVER been this creative in all my life! haha...after the preeclampsia, I was lost creatively. I was used to writing my own dynamic, multiple-intelligence-type lesson plans constantly and writing songs with my band routinely to NOTHING--ZIP. Seriously, I would go to rehearsal, and the guys would have their instruments in hand, playing their ideas, and they would all stop every once and a while and look at me. I'd look at them, with my blank paper and my blank stare....It was horrible! That went on for about 4 years....slowly it started coming back, and this year, even though I'm experiencing my worst with the after-effects of the preeclampsia (yes! It has never gone away! It's just getting worse, but I had it so severely. Both lungs filled up with water--couldn't breath and on oxygen; I had over 5,000 milligrams of protein in my urine; my doctor tells me that my heart was drowning....oh man! ) So, I've been trying to get balanced...but waiting for doctors and then waiting to get in to the specialists...it's been exhausting!

But now, with this WA project, I feel so renewed!

I'm glad that you had good pregnancies after! 23 years old!! Wow!! I'm 42 with a 7 year old, and I do see how having kids younger is a good thing! Christine, do you want to hear something very interesting? When I was pregnant (2005/06) 6 other women I worked with were also; they were all at least 3-7 years younger than I and they were non-smokers....yes...I am one of the stupid ones who still smoke! But it's the only thing that doesn't bother me yet! I do work out! I'm in decent shape in that regard..but I know I have to quit! Anyway, they all did not smoke, didn't burn the candle at both ends with 2 careers like I did with my music, and out of the 7 of us, 4 of us had Preeclampsia. Then, the following year in my building, 6 more girls were pregnant, and out of them, about 4 had preeclampsia. All of those who had the P, got pregnant again, and had it again! These are large odds, don't you think? My doctors --all three teams of them --said that they barely know anything about Preeclampsia, and so they couldn't really give me any further advice....just wait and see kind of thing.

I do know quite a handful of women who had it and then were fine like you, but none of them in my building! Strange, huh?

Anyway, I am sorry I type so much; I type as fast as I talk! hahaha...sorry!!

Thanks for the follow and for dropping by! It's so nice to meet you. In the near future, I plan on developing a site all about Preeclampsia and how there is (now they know) a link between the Preeclampsia and Post Taumatic Stress Disorder, Thyroidism, Adult ADD---the list will probably grow by the time I put this all together, but it's amazing! If you have any information or would like to add your input when I put that site together, I would love to be able to look you back up for that; although, we'll probably chat before then!

What is the site that you are working on, if you don't mind me asking? I would love to hear about it! And if you are good at this stuff, I'd love another friend to ask more technical questions to!

Take care, and talk to you soon!

hey diana - italy has always been on my bucket list as my family heritage is all italian - naples - i'm the only one in my family that's never been there - keep doing what you love and are passionate about - your family, music or remodeling your grandmother's home- passion is what attracts people - never heard of preeclampsia but i'm going to look it up - life is truly a garden - best of luck with all and thanks for the follow - btw francesca is a beautiful name

Bravo, Stefeno! (That's my cousin's name in Sicily, and that's your name in Italian!)
Don't feel too bad about not visiting Italy; I went for 2 months in 1998, and I was supposed to return within a year or two.....and here we are, 2013, and I haven't been back! It really does break my heart, though, because the family that I have there is close family---not like distant cousins or people that barely know my parents, etc. So, there are some uncles that have already passed....one that I'm very close to that is getting very old, and he's very depressed that he can't have all of us in the same room at the same time. I would love it if I could be successful with this new endeavor within a year, so that I can get back there.

Thank you so much for all of your complimentary words! I've been so passionate about this project and I've had to stop with my content in order to get the preparations ready for the remodeling....it's a lot to coordinate since with every project we do, we'll be updating the site, and on and on....this project has been the main source of my ability to finally get back into life...it's been a loooong haul.

Preeclampsia is disease that happens ONLY to pregnant women. They don't know why, and only recently has there been updated research, thanks to a new organization called Preeclampsia Foundation (.org.) Basically, your blood pressure starts to rise, and then if it gets out of control, you have to deliver the baby; delivering is the only way to stop the preeclampsia from killing the mother. According my doctor, I was less than 2 minutes from dying!! My lungs filled up with water, I had over 5,000 proteins in my urine, which at 3,000, some doctors consider that to be the limit; I had to deliver my daughter 2 months early because of this. She was due on July 9, but we had her on May 19th! There are so many complications that arise due to this disease, and because doctors don't know much about it, I wasn't given any support or help when I really needed it back in 2006, when Francesca was born. (Thanks about her name compliment! It's my mom's name, but everyone calls my mom "Frances," so Francesca is Francesca. My daughter is recently complaining about her name!! I call her Cha-Cha! haha)

Anyway, Preeclampsia is a very dangerous disease, and it causes so many problems afterward. I'm actually feeling worse in some ways now, but better in others...my doctors are still trying to help me get "balanced," as I wait for my Endocrinologist testing....ugh! It's a big, huge pain, and hard to keep my job, and so I'm hoping to make this career change with online businesses and websites. I'm going to try as hard as I can!

Sorry!!! I wrote too much again!! But I wanted to properly respond!
What's your last name, hahaha..maybe we are cousins! hahah....
Talk to you soon and good luck with everything! Keep in touch!

hi diana - i'd rather have you spell my name wrong than not respond - thanks for that and a long message is fine - i enjoyed reading it - my last name is cerrone - you can never tell who your cousins are when you have a large family tree

we have a few things in common - i'm a substitute teacher - been doing it for three years - i thought about getting a degree but at this stage in my life i don't really have the time or energy

i'm also a performer - my degree is in theatre arts and i've been in numerous plays, two movies and wrote two movies (one filmed) and sold two sitcom pilots to nbc -

sorry it took so long to reply - i haven't spent much time with wa because i've been working on a nonprofit baseball academy which is starting to take off - i'm doing everything pretty much myself and it's very time consuming - hopefully in another year i can write and tell you what a tremendous success it is - anyway - all the best

ciao for now

Hey Steve,

Wow! We do have a lot in common! I love the fact that you sold some scripts! I have been around others (friends and an ex-fiance) who tried to break into that game; mostly, my writer-friends are more like comic-book writers or cliff-hangers---things like that.

You must be pretty darn good to have had sold some in this business! I'm very intrigued and I would love to hear more---see more, possibly? Do you ever show off your writing?

I know exactly what you mean about no time. Teaching, for me, is really starting to take away all of my "good" energy. I really get disgusted with myself when I come home around 3:30, and I feel like I could drop ....with no time for Francesca, who is the one who really needs me most! It seems like in this career, you give away so much of yourself that your family suffers. I hear that ALL THE TIME from my colleagues. We always say, "Who said it again? The motto---teaching is a great job for a mom!" Heck no!!

Well..there goes the bell...it's time to end lunch, so I have to run now.

Keep me posted on your baseball endeavor...that sounds interesting too!
Have a good day; talk to you soon!
Ciao,
Diana

" hahaha...but I guess I'm a true writer at heart....I do know that writing for the website has been really making me happy. Hey Mikey B!
Wow! I guess we have a lot in common! I would have loved to have gone to U of M in Ann Arbor! Lucky you! Don't get me wrong--I loved my experience at Marygrove College in Detroit, but Ann Arbor is just so cool! UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN is one of my favorite movies!! And..I'm working on this site as we speak! I literally have drafts and drafts in my pads of paper---I'm so old school! I do keep drafts on my computer, but even before that, I write it all down; so my goal is have many drafts ready to go in the next several days....in the mean time, you can go www.bellacasamiatuscany.com

We are starting the prep work for the remodeling of this house; for me, it's like I'm doing it all at once....getting ready to pull up carpets and work on the painting in the next few weeks....then counter tops, floors and then the individual rooms....it's going to be a good long project, which will feed the site...this getting started part is overwhelming, but very, very cool!

So nice to meet you and thank you for the encouragement!
You say that you are a writer? That's awesome! Where do you write, or what has been your experience? And what was your major at U of M?
Looking forward to talking more with you!

Hey Mikey B! I been meaning to get back to you! That is awesome! So, I'm assuming that you are a dentist, correct? And your site is an excellent idea.....I'd love to read your children's book! I do have plans for a little collection of my own that I've been working on since my daughter has been born. Mainly, since she was born in 2006, the strangest animal stories have played out in our back yard and around/near my daughter and my husband! hhaha...really cute and "one in a million-chance" events! I want to call mine, IN FRANCESCA'S BACK YARD (that would be the actual title of the collection, and some of the titles of the actual stories are: "Baby Duck Gets Adopted" (then I can introduce the idea of adoption as well....for kids who are and are not--to understand the idea...and yes, this DID happen right before our eyes!)

Another title I'm playing with is "Mrs. Groundhog is Running out of Time!" (This is about a pregnant groundhog who LITERALLY used our campfire pit for her "Home Depot," collecting cardboard boxes and other large items we threw in there---about 200 feet deep in our yard, she was whippin stuff all over the place, then settling on what she liked, and she wattled, with large pieces of cardboard wobbling while the cardboard rocked back and forth like a seesaw. She would come right up to about 25 feet from our deck, behind out garage under another wood pile! hahaha.. she did it all day long for a few days. My husband told me that she was probably about to give birth and needed a place to be! haha...she knew we were watching...once in a while she'd stop and stare at us, but only for a second...she was too concerned about about getting her work done! haha...so cool! And then there is the "Three Big Baby Birdies and One Tiny Nest."

I'm getting too long-winded again...but you probably get it--basically, a mother bird settled into a nest already made by the sparrows, but this family of birds (I can't remember right now...I think Cow Birds? ) anyway, they are huge and fall out of the nest...my daughter was so upset, so my husband and I had to build a make-shift nest, that the mother and father birds didn't take to for one day, and a baby bird died, but the other 2 survived as the parents finally took to our nest! It was so amazing!

But I don't see myself getting to that project until next summer....but I write it in my head all of the time. I bet you do that too!

Again, I'm sorry for writing so much, but it's nice to have another author around to bounce ideas off of! (Although, I can't really consider myself an author...yet!)

Hope it's going well for you these days!
I'll check out your site soon!
Blessings,
Diana

Hello to everyone whom I just started to follow today; again, you guys, I don't know if I'm doing this right when I want to send out a note to "all." If I type in this box, which is on my own Profile page, and I just clicked the "follow" green link on several new faces, will all of you see this post? Is it like FB where if you are my friends, and I put a post on my wall, then all my friends can read it....is this post like that?

I have said this already, and some of you may wonder I'm repeating it---but just in case, I want to be sure that when I click the "follow" button, I'm true to that, but I can't always get to bio right away and learn more..so I don't want to look like I'm not being polite---or you know, like I want to say "hello" to all at once, but if this isn't the right place to send an "all" message, can anyone tell me where we do that?

Then, again, I know some of you are getting these posts...haha...so....I'm confused about this format more than I have ever been with any of the classes! ha!!

You're always welcome, Diana. My childhood friends call me by that name - from the song Betcha by golly wow. It's an oldie, tells so much about my age, heh! Awe, Betcha, I'm smiling over here, and now, you've that song in my head, " Betcha, By Golly Wow, you're the one that I've been waiting for, forever..." hahaha...

Well, here's the real truth: you said that you were really showing your age by the song title; however, (and here's why I'm laughing! It's really funny, sort of...) the way I read it in your message to me, I thought that the song was called "Betcha," and that there was a group named "Golly Wow," hahahaha...because I didn't realize the "by" mean the phrase...I thought you were saying, a song called "Betcha" by a group called "Golly Wow!" ahahaha....Being that I'm a singer/songwriter/performer in the Detroit area, and I'm not too far behind you (I'm 42!), AND my mom LOVED all the motown songs and the girl groups and guy groups; what I'm trying to say is that I grew up around music all my life, and because I've been performing from such a young age, and I doubled majored in college with Music and English--I forgot about that!) ...so I am familiar with ("familiar" is better than saying I "know everything--" haha...anyway, I am familiar with everything from Classical/Opera music to Old-School Country to Jazz and the Blues. I started listening to Billy Holiday when I was 10--haha--like really going to the library and checking out her live performances! haha...Oh man! What I'd do to have those long and lazy--"I'm bored, what can I do?" days again!! Don't you agree?

So, Betcha, I was sitting here thinking well...who the heck are the "Golly Wows?" hahaha...and then you wrote how it's an "oldie," which made me think, "ok, so it's a song from the 50s/60s era...so I went and looked it up because I wanted to know who the "Golly Wows" were! haaaahahhahaha....so, I typed in even, "Betcha" by Golly Wow! hahahahahaha...this is SOOOOO funny! (It's late though, and I'm tired...but it's funny, right? ) You won't hurt my feelings if you don't think it's funny--but do tell me if you do!

Soooo Aneeewaaay--- first thing that pops up is, of course, "The Stylistics!" And OF COURSE, I know that song! Now, I get the whole story about your friends "waiting on you" for the Math answers!t

Oh my goodness!!! Goes to show me that I need to sloooooow down when I read and really, really pay attention! hahaha.....

Well, after all that, and I was done laughing at myself, the search page that I had up from searching about the old group, "Golly Wow," was still up and there was a YouTube entry with the video right there, so I clicked it, and the song played through. Now, I can't get it out of my head! Those guys are great singers, and it reminded me of all of my days at Marygrove College because I had a system for doing homework, which was at 8:00 sharp on the radio, channel 100.3, and I just can't remember their actual name-name....but it was the "Alann Alden (not Alda like MASH)--Pillow Talk" show until midnight, and he'd play all the sexy, romantic songs all night --like Al Green and Luther Vandrosse, and of course, all the old motown ballads, like Gladyis Knight and the Pips, "Neither One Of Us,"....ooooh I love that song too!Betcha, I used to know every song Alan played and the time he would play it! He really was changing the rotations and changing the songs, but still...each change lasted a month or so!

Well...anyway see? We are going to be good friends because my message tapped your memory and made you think of your school-days, and then without even trying or knowing it, your message did the same thing to me!!!

Now, tell me, Elisabeth (I had to check out your bio for 2 reasons: 1, I feel it's impolite of me not to, and 2, that is how we learn important information out about one another like their names! hahahah....)

Side Note:
So, I love your given name because I had an "Elisabeth" in my life for the first 13-15 years; she was my uncle's girlfriend, and they had been dating since they were kids--18 years old (1973/74)....she was really special and a huge influence on me! I'll tell you more about her another time because I'm going to be soooo tired again! haha...

Well, Betcha, back to what I was going to say....first, reread the paragraph above "Side Note."

Now, tell me....isn't that funny?
(It is, isn't it? )

Well, I'm smiling very wide, and I feel like I have a new friend in the world! And you, Betcha, have a new friend in me...and this new friend is going to be in trouble because of the time!

: )
Talk to you later!

And oh, I totally forgot about my fb friends already since I started here. This is more fun to do because aside from the community, I believe we will soon be successful in our online business. Watcha think?

Anyway, as I was reading I kept looking at your profile pix. I could just imagine how bubbly you are talking to me about all these searches you did for Betcha....uhhmmmmm sung by the Golly Wows! I love that song. hahahahahaha...Yes, that was the funniest account I've ever heard! And literally my eyes are so teary LOL!!! Your uncle's girlfriend must have enjoyed your company so much.

Just like you I love music. But I am the "classical" type. That's the kind of music I grew up with since I had to perform in piano recitals until I was in college. But I had to learn a lot more of the contemporary ones and I use them in my classes. We've got to be creative in teaching math to the students to make them learn it easily. Anyway, a little tidbit about me.

Of course, I've got a new friend! And when you're down and troubled (stuck up not knowing what to do with your website) just call out my name and I'll be there....cause "you've got a friend!"

Have a great week ahead of you!

Is it ok to call you "Elisabeth" on this forum? (I like both names! but want to be sure before I just go throwing them around!)

Hahaha.....yes, I guess, I am what you see (in person) and I am what you read! For years, I always hated how people say, "You always wear your heart on your sleeve!" My Scorprio, Italian, Detroit-Blues Singer gets the best of me like, "You don't know me!" hahaha....it's like, um...yeah, we do! I don't know who the hell I'm kidding by trying to say that I don't wear it all everywhere! So, most recently---more like over the last 2 years, I decided that I was going to break the "writing block" that finally got me in my songwriting...it was a long, dry, last 5 years! Anyway, I realized that I was going to have to allow my writing to take me through those "hearts on your sleeve" moments and not only that, but I think I am supposed to---in other words, for me, it's always been easy to g"write around the subject" in a song---or an essay without having to really get down-deep and honest; the songwriting was very good and I did have many themes and messages, but the last 5 years made me realize that the stuff that I'm learning, for me in my life, is that in order to actually get to MY next place, I have to share what I'm learning/have learned.....and this time having my heart on my sleeve is a bit more vulnerable than I'm used to...which is how I know it's right.

Therefore, I'm working on that whole "voice" thing.....coming from an utmost honest and pure place a writer can come from.....so I thank you very much for your compliments! It totally helps my confidence!

I know!! My crazy-search for the secret "Golly Wows!" ha...and yes, you have my personality down right--as I just cleared up anyway!

I want to stay and chat more but I must respond to more new friends and also, I'm working on my content---actually got some stuff done, and I just want to squeeze out a few more hours! hahaha..I will be back!

Of course, you can call me Elizabeth. So, how is your content coming up. I am looking forward to seeing your website up and rolling. Your close to reaching your goals and be successful in your online business.

Hi Jim,

Thank you very much for the warm words regarding my introduction. I know it's not the "professional" way, and in music, a bio like that would be shot down instantly, but for some reason, I feel that I should take this route on this forum....I guess it's also good practice on creating my "voice" online.

I can see where we have some things in common for sure, such as the way you were researching online marketing for the purpose of drawing more traffic/business to your main business, Health Insurance. I started my research on how to create a successful band blog and website; the next thing I realize is that all of the other "side" projects of mine that have been lingering in my head for the last 3-5 years suddenly had a vehicle in which to drive! Suddenly, so much is possible, isn't it?

I have some very savvy friends when it comes to websites and making money online, and they have been very helpful, but I realized that I can't rely on others to create and run my website, so I stumbled upon WA while researching how to build a website, and I figured, well.....from I've already learned from my friends about keyword research and ranking, Kyle and Carson are putting out excellent information, and I trust it. So, here I am.....I know that I still have so much to understand in terms of ranking and working with affiliates....but I am really learning a lot anyway, so it's very much worth it.

I'm interested to learn more about your Health Insurance business...what you think about the future of health insurance. You know, things like health insurance, finances, credit reports, retirement packages---these things, I feel need to be taught more in the high schools. Unless people in our families are teaching these things to their kids, we don't really get it...do you agree? I don't think there are a lot of websites dedicated to just teaching normal, every day people about health insurance, or how to understand our health insurance options or even the ones we are offered at our jobs. Do you think you might go in that direction? If you do, please let me know! I'll be a visitor for sure!

Thanks for dropping in, Jim, and I do wish you success as well! I hope to talk to you again soon!

Hey Diana,

Thanks so much for that reply! You've been caught in the act: you're definitely a writer by nature. If you leave a perfectly-written reply like the one you did, and it's as long as that,, you HAVE to be a writer. I know because that's my own nature. I do insurance because it can make for a good business, but my passion leans toward writing and film. But you know, there's actually another aspect to it, which is that I enjoy helping people solve a problem that they didn't know even had a solution. I've often run into that, and it certainly adds a motivation to expand my help of others.

I doubt there's technically a "professional" method for writing an introduction, so I think yours is fabulous. It immediately shows, as you put it, your "voice," which I believe is exactly what I think this should be about. Lay it out there, because the more real it is and the more truth it contains, the more people will want to read it.

I know exactly what you mean about all the other projects you have in mind now being in posession of a vehicle. You're absolutely right! The possibilities this opens up and inspiring. I am learning a ton as I go through each of these lessons as well, and I'm always putting my ideas in tandem with what I'm learning and seeing if there's a way to use what I'm learning with the scenarios I have stored away in my mind.

I couldn't agree with you more when you say that many of the things we should be taught in school are never even mentioned. I think a fundamental and practical knowledge of insurance, finance and related fields should be a big part of our general education, but they're not. In fact, my theory is that it is being excluded from our education intentionally. If we're ignorant and gullible on the concepts, we are, collectively, much easier to manipulate and be used. And yes, to answer your question, giving people a basic clarification of insurance nomenclature, and how insurance and some simpler investements work, is exactly my intention. Put in lay terms the whole concept, and what one really needs to know. I think it's essential to have that knowledge - and it doesn't take long, maybe reading a few paragraphs and definitions - in order to make an informed and intelligent choice in insurance.

Congrats for jumping in to WA, and thanks again for the message. I love long messages! I'm sure we'll be in touch, maybe even send a quick message when one of us starts getting little successes (or big ones!) with our sites and online marketing.

Have a terrific day and we'll talk soon!

Jim,

I want to jump in so many things you said---all good--like the strategy that Corporate America and Politicians use to keep the public ignorant so that we don't know what the heck is going on and keep on voting against our own interests? Like that one!

You and I are going to get along just fine, I think!
I would love to put our heads together and come up with ways that we can benefit off of each other's traffic---that's ok, right? I definitely have not been in the "business" world since I've been teaching 8th graders for so long; my music has taken me many professional places, but as far as being a true-blue, Cold-hearted, American business woman, I have no idea what is good etiquette ---you know, I think in terms of "sharing---more the merrier---" or, fundamentally, what I really believe is that if I want abundance in my life, then I have to act "abundantly.." right? So....that form of thinking, when spoken out loud, just seems to attract a lot of people looking at me with the , "Awe, she's so cute" look....like they are really thinking, "yeah, right! I ain't sharin shit with no one!"

Sorry for my dirty-mouth! But that's what they are thinking!

I really want to keep writing here, but I'm in this great creative way this week, and before my drummer gets here, as we have some band-business (speaking of business---hahaah..that is the one thing I find bands have the most trouble in!) ...anyway I can't finish now, but I'll PM you later in the week for sure! I really enjoyed your reply!

Have a great night and tomorrow!

Thank you for that! I can't tell you how much that means to me in my life right now! I've been in a different mind-set over the last 5 years; all of my life, I've been called "bubbly" a "go-getter" or "power-house," etc....when my friends start saying, "Di, what's going on with you?" or "You seem out of control lately.." or " you are worrying me.."

Let's just say that I've learned the hard way that real stress can really change a person; and people really do have short memories....for 34 years I was one way..the last 5 have been very bumpy...people only remember now. It has been a bit irritating because those people who have always given me that thumbs up, well...they seem to have no faith in me...and I'm thinking, "I'm here! I am right here! " but...change is happening and even though I know I'm alright and that I'm not out of control or that it's only temporary....others don't believe it.

So, you have made me feel very good just now! If my real self is showing up here, and in my writing, then that means I'm supposed to be doing this, as it is bringing me back to ME!" Whew! What a relief!

I was reading some of your comments on another page....you were giving advice about Home Website Names/ niche's and topics...I can see you are very knowledgeable and you are a good writer as well! I'm glad to meet you and I'm sure that I'll be hunting you down for questions! hahaha!

Hi everyone! I just want to sent out this note, and I hope I'm doing this correctly....see, I've been concentrating really hard on wrapping my head around creating my first website through WA. What drew me to go further with this group is that I have already spent more than a year researching information about creating successful websites (and I did that mostly because my band needs a profitable, successful website to help promote our music and to help us develope an online persona) and everything that WA has revealed is exactly what I've already learned from friends of mine who are very successful in the website industry, along with other research I've conducted through very credible connections. So, I believe that WA is very trustworthy, and here I am, working on my first website idea (I have a few, actually!)

Now, I don't want any of you to think I'm being smug if I'm not on these chat rooms regulary---I plan to be, believe me! However, I'm one of those learners that needs to do one thing at a time....especially with this sort of thing. I'm a right brainer, and while there is tons of creative involvment in designing a website, the "stuff" behind it seems all very left-brainy to me! Do you agree? hahaa...

Anyway, I'm finally to the part of creating my content---I've been working on my keywords and I'm just so ready to get this content written!! I'm focused on that for a while...so that's why I'm not on the chat rooms or joining the live discussions...is that wrong?

Furthermore, I don't get the way these discussions are set up; unlike Facebook, where you would reply and comment to specific people right there on your wall, it seems like I have to actually go to each person's profile and then leave a comment...is that right? Or am I missing something? So, you see, I'm a bit confused on the functionality of these discussion panels....I want to jump in and I have wanted to quickly respond to someone, but I am not sure exactly how to do it. As soon as I am done with posting some of my first bits of content on my new site, I intend on learning more about the social networking of WA that seems to be very important, from what I can see.

I'm sure there is more to it, right? It seems like building a group of our own is what we are supposed to be doing.....is that true also? Does it hurt our traffic and our website's success if we are not building popularity among the WA followers? Am I even posting this correctly? For instance...who sees this post? (I'm sorry! I'm really foggy on things like this.....it took me a very long time to finally join the FACEBOOk community for this reason! haha)

Thank you for reading, and I'll try to keep these shorter---I know I'm a bit long-winded and no one likes that much, right? Good luck to you all, and look forward to building new friendships and connections with you all!

Hi Diana, I rarely send out messages to the entire community (I need to socialize more, I know!), but, to the best of my knowledge, here's how it's done: To send a blog message, go to your Profile page (you can get there by clicking your own picture at the top of the Dashboard page), then click on the 'My Blog' tab at the top of the Profile page. Once in the Blog area, click the big blue button that says 'Create Blog'. A writing box will open up. Start typing. :-)
