I'm sixtyish plus some - cough - with a beautiful wife, four children and nine grandchildren.
Now that I'm retired and have time on my hands, I intend to supplement my pensions by working 'on line'.
I know it won't happen overnight, and will require many hours of diligence, perseverance and the discipline of following each lesson to the tee.
If others can do it... then so can I !
Regards, peace and good fortune to you all...

Thank you Robert... my progress is, to say the least, slow. It seems that the more I read here, the more confused I become... never the less, I'm NOT a quitter, so I'm toying with the idea of paying someone competent with WordPress to at least get the framework of my site up and running.

I don't have a problem with the use of keywords or writing content - blogs/posts etc. - but judging by most folks sites on here, mine is pretty dismal lol.

Anyway, thanks for your input... onwards and upwards eh?

Kind regards, Derek :)

Thank you kind lady... I've come to the conclusion that I've been getting my priorities wrong and wasting too much energy and valuable time by fretting about my WA rankings.

It's all too easy to get side tracked here, and to overlook the fact that bottom line, we're all here to earn money right?

From tomorrow I intend to divert 90% of my energy and time spent here on improving my site.

Prioritising I think it's called...

Have a lovely Sunday :)

Thanks for your response. I'm certainly not a computer wiz-kid by any means, my brain often locks up when met with new technical challenges.

Fortunately for me, and I hope other members, I don't struggle with the written word; I grasped the concept of keywords and how to use them in posts with relative ease... thank goodness.

But, if I can help you in anyway with anything sir, I'll do my best. If I can't help you myself, there are plenty of folk on here who are both willing and able to do so.

Cheers :)

Thank you Carol... I've already had help and encouragement from some lovely members and have been personally touched by the closeness of this community.

Hopefully one day I'll know enough about 'all things site building' to spend most of my time on here helping folk out, while my site(s) tick over earning me a passive income.

Aus eh... I have family in Perth and would move there tomorrow if I could!! I missed an amnesty many years ago for 'overstayed visitors' by a fortnight. It obviously wasn't meant to be.

Regards, Derek :)

Oh, and by the way, I'll be 71 in October L0L !!

Unfortunately you can't catch up with me - I will be 73 in September and would you believe I am a Perth girl. Born and raised in East Fremantle but I haven't been home for many years. Been a bit of a gypsy and have lived in Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast and currently living in outback Queensland - Longreach - drought is causing a great deal of concern and the temps are in excess of 40 for weeks at a time but the air con keeps things cool
Love chatting to you and hopefully when I am next over that way we can catch up - have family in the States and worked in and out of the States for many years but now it is back to work for me - cheers

I recall the wonderful refreshing breeze that blows off the Swan every day... sigh! Halcyon days indeed.

Your day has just begun of course... here in Kent - the Garden of England as it's called - it's just passed midnight, so I'm off to my pit - that's London slang talk for bed by the way.

(I still smile when I think of "lounge room"... what are you Ausies like eh?)

Derek, I see you are making some good progress through the Affiliate Bootcamp. Just wanted to pop by and see if you need a hand with anything?

I also wanted to mention the success rates of Bootcamp. Absolutely everyone that has taken action on all of the phases of Bootcamp has a business that is generating consistent income online. MANY of these folks are going to be at our super affiliate conference next year.

I want this to be you and I want you to succeed with your promotions. So, please promise me that if you ever need a hand or feel stuck as you move forward, that you will get in touch with me!

Trust me, I know things can be a little overwhelming sometimes and I don't want you feeling like that.

Anyways, just checking in. Get back at me if you need anything Derek.

Thank you for your comment sir... I've just watched a video about changing the headers by Craig, which was very informative and straight forward.

Unfortunately, when clicking 'customise' as he does, there is no tab about 'header image'?? Search as I may, I can find nothing about it... maybe I should change my theme?

I have messaged him with my query, but any help with this from your good self would be most appreciated.

Thank you Kyle -)

Yeah, every theme is a bit different in terms of how it works. Your header may be straight text and not have an image at all.

Within your WP-admin area, head to:

Settings => General

You can update your title there typically.

Good thinking Derek! we went to school many years to work for a monthly income. To do online business for an income do not expect some days or a month. I started looking for this before retiring. Now after 2 years of retirement I have not achieved anything! I ran into many scams. Hope WA can help !

I'm far too long in the tooth to be a pessimist DrSherry but, I do sometimes wonder... how many stay the course and actually achieve their goals?

No doubt there are many who find it too difficult, throw in the towel and justify their withdrawal by claiming that, 'it's only another scam anyway'.

The idiom, "To the bitter end" is appropriate :)

Always bookish... passed her 11 plus with ease... got 6 As and 2 A*... uni .... Hon in Law and Criminology... going back to Uni full time in September for a year to do her Masters in Law... all paid for by her company... the largest and most reputed Law firm in the UK - forgotten their name?? - and a guaranteed job after she qualifies. Hey Louie... your expertise and knowledge is WAY WAY down the road from where I am with my humble Wordpress attempt lol... respect to you man.

I'm planning a 'work from home, earn more income' type site. It's my intention to include WA membership, but I'm already a tad overwhelmed with creating my site... Wordpress is a whole new ball game, and I'm really not sure what 'theme' to use; I know some are for blogging, some for 'magazine' sites, but apart from that, they all look pretty much the same to me... but then what do I know?

The thought of attempting the Affiliate Bootcamp course is quite daunting... After much consideration and heart searching, I'm inclined to publish my site without it and incorporate it into my site at a later date.

I appreciate that you're a busy man Louie, so I won't keep you... just to say that it's a shame that when we upload our part built sites for comments, it appears to be only 'newbies' that comment on them, and not folk with "real" expertise and knowledge. Anyway, thank you for your valued input sir... onwards and upwards.

Peace and kind regards.

Derek, like Kyle usually tell us: we are all newbies at some point in our lives. That doesn't stop anyone from learning and succeeding a bit later. Needless to say, you can do it too.

Just take it slowly but surely (one brick at a time), someday soon every piece of jigsaw puzzle will seem to fit together much easily. Sooner than you expect!

For a niche website pick a normal blog theme, not those 'magazine' ones. See the suggested / free ones on SiteBuilder.

About the comments: I guess that the lessons where people are told to ask for comments is at the early beginning of the courses. More experienced folks have already finished those lessons (probably the whole training), that's why they don't even get to see those comments requests. :) Besides, they're probably running several niche websites simultaneously and totally focused on their work.

Best of luck Derek,
Louie

Website FIRST, Social SECOND
Stay involved in the community - but don't let your website slide because of it.
