Having Some Major Issues With SiteComments

I'm now running into my first really severe problems with SiteComments. Whenever I publish new content to my site, I always request a comment or two and it usually would be pretty quick in receiving those comments. Over the past year though, I've noticed it has been taking longer and longer to receive comments, but I would still eventually get them.

Well, it now appears I've hit the maximum amount of time that my comment requests are allowed to go because I've now gotten 2 private messages from the TheWA Team basically stating that my comment requests have been cancelled because it has taken too long to receive them and so I was refunded the 2 credits I initially used for requesting them. That was yesterday though.

I decided to try requesting them again, but this time followed a suggestion from that private message that I space them out so I chose to do 7 days instead of getting them as soon as possible which is what I've normally done. Well now I've checked my email and see that I've received a 2nd private message from TheWA Team saying basically the samething as the first one, but I did not get my credits refunded this time and it really makes no sense because on my second request I chose the 7 day option.

Has anyone ever gotten these messages before or have had problems receiving comments in a timely fashion? It is kind of disappointing that it has been taking longer for me to receive comments to a particular post and then see this happen.

Hello Brian
I've had no issue at all with SiteComments until this week when I've received 3 of these messages from the WA Team.
Maybe they are having issue behind the scenes and are working on solving the problem.
It's probably a case of 'watch this space'!

Yes, I and Steve Mand have got those rather repetitive PM's from the WA Team. I re-requested comments on Friday then got that second PM on Saturday morning saying they had been cancelled but with no refund.

However, on Saturday evening, the articles returned to the comments engine - only to be short lived and with that "cancelled comment request" PM ..same again Sunday and now Monday.

My best guess is hold on, hold tight as it does look like some background stuff going on, improving the way in which the comments engine works and prolonging the request time to with different options, as quick as possible, 7 days, 14 days. 30 days, 60 days and 90 days. This I believe is good and spread over a greater time frame and thus less obvious to search engines and human users that the comments are "manufactured" and not exactly 'genuine' comments.

I have had similar issues in the past year too, much more difficult to get comments, even though I request just 2 per article before I'd request anything from 6 to 12 per article.

Thank you for your blog post-Brian, I have been receiving the same messages from the Wealthy Affiliate team, in the last 10 days, I have received four messages. This is also the first time that this has happened, although I probably have not asked for as many site comments as I should have done!

I will keep a lookout on this thread as this is an interesting topic.

Enjoy your day.

Roy

I have requested comments ( over 10 per post ) on the last 6 posts I have put forth .... I knew they was going to be slow coming but was ok because I wanted to space them out anyways .

I have got that same message at least 6 times in the last week ... worse though every time they cancel my comment thread the comments I received but did not have a chance to approve and respond to are deleted !

Than that comment thread shows again in site request area ... gets more comments .

Than ...POOF .... comment thread and comments gone within the hour .

I seriously do not know if I hate :

The people who spent the time to leave the comment gets nothing

Or

I am literally ignoring those people who had questions ( this doesnt look good on me )

Or

I’m sorry but I really wanted those comments that are now lost.

Before anyone suggests it I have soo soo soo messaged Kyle multiple times ... awaiting a response... hopefully before the next round of comments I never have a chance to
Approve ... seriously

Have you considered opening a ticket with site support to see if they can look into it? I wonder if there’s a bug or something.

I wasn’t aware they could help with wa comment request areas ... I thought only things that where actually part of our site ( which the comments would be if I could get them to move off WA and ionto my site lol)

I will give it the day since it appears there is some sort of glitch with the new update they will be working on ....if not I could try site support.

If you read further down the comments here, Carson replied and said that ever since they did an update last week, it appears there's a bug or two and they are working to remedy it. It looks like it's a work in progress.

Good to know!

Many people lose the option to comment through the comment tool because of how it is set up so they needed to create the comments thread.

Good point..I, myself, lost access because, when I first started, I didn’t understand the difference between site comment and site feedback. This resulted in 40% of my comments being rejected and me losing access to the tool.

I caught Carson in live chat and he restored my access. I don’t know if it was introduced too early in the training or not explained well enough or a mix of both.

I lost access ass well. never had restored as of yet though.

You can contact site support and get it restored.

You are hitting the nail on the head there. A lot do mix up site comments and site feedback. It results in a lot of comments getting rejected as a site review is, as you know of zero use to our readers , kinda spammy looking and unpublishable.

This is a training issue. I brought it up with Kyle and Carson 2 years ago, suggesting obliged reading and training in regards to site comments and knowing what a good comment is and the difference between that and site feedback area.

Both LynnH and Nathaneil have excellent training in regards to site comments that could be added to the actual certificate training here.

Sadly I think the comments thread is taking away from the site comments tool. I have 2 requests for comments pending myself. The part that really bothers me about it is it actually hurts the new guys the most as it’s part of the training and is rarely used.

I agree it is a shame not more people are using it - what is so brilliant about the comment tools is that it mixes things up. In the comments thread people often just exchange comments (even though that is not the idea), and I have heard that Google potentially can see it as a problem when most of the comments are from somebody that you have also left a comment for and see it is just exchanging comments and not real engagement (and of course Google can see this).

The comment tool takes care of this as it mixes things up, and would be great if more people used it, and would also mean we would get comments faster.

Agreed...I’ll do more in live chat to see if I can’t get more people to start using it again.

Interesting I did not realize that was potentially bad in the eyes of Google. It makes sense and that is kind of scary.

I , too didn’t put that together...that’s just another reason this tool needs to be promoted more. I’ll write up a post about it tomorrow. Maybe I can drum up some more activity.

I haven’t run into your particular issue, probably because I’ve only been here 4 months. I have noticed that getting site comments is a slow process and I think it stems from people not really using the tool...

I have not received a message like this. I pretty much stopped using SiteComments because it was taking a really long time to get comments and the quality is honestly not much better than the comments thread. So I am using the comments thread instead.

I sometimes receive late feedback or comments from members on rare occasions. Most of the time I get feedback or comments within 24 to 48 hours

I just recently received the same messages for some of the comments I have requested.

I just keep going and will try again for the ones that have been cancelled later.

But thanks for sharing - will be interesting to see if other people have the same experience as well.

Mikael
