Hello WA friends. Haven’t been here for a while due to outside of the USA travels. I have slipped down in my WA ranking from the top 100 down into the 200’s but life happens. I discovered “Listicles” which is a great way to add more content to my blogs. You can use them, too. Here are some listicle tips.

What is a Listicle?

A listicle is an article written in list format, combining "list" and "article" to create engaging, easily digestible content. Whether you're reading "The Top 20 Movies of 2024" or "5 Steps to Drive Traffic to Your Website," listicles offer a structured way to present information that agrees with modern readers' scanning habits.

To create an effective listicle, start by ensuring your topic naturally fits a list format. Not every subject works well as a listicle, but topics involving steps, tips, or collections often shine in this structure. The key is providing genuine value in each list item rather than padding your article with unhelpful content.

Crafting Your Listicle

When crafting your listicle, maintain consistency in structure and tone throughout. Each point should offer unique insights, supported by relatable examples that help readers connect with the content. For instance, don't just tell readers to "use time-blocking techniques" – show them how by suggesting they "dedicate 9-11 AM each day for important tasks."

The number of items in your listicle matters. Shorter lists (3-5 items) work well for in-depth topics, while longer lists (10-20 items or more) suit comprehensive overviews. For extended lists, consider organizing items into categories to enhance readability. For example, a "50 Ways to Save Money" article might group tips under categories like "Grocery Shopping" and "Utility Bills."

Numbers are important

Numbers serve multiple purposes in listicles: they help readers track progress, make content more shareable, and often perform better in search results. Complement this structure with strategic links to in-depth resources when readers might benefit from additional information.

Finally, don't underestimate the power of your title. A clear, catchy headline including numbers (like "12 Easy DIY Holiday Decorating Ideas”) sets expectations and attracts readers.

Whether you're using listicles for marketing, education, or entertainment, this format offers a powerful way to communicate in the digital age. By following these guidelines, you can create listicles that not only capture attention but also deliver meaningful value to your readers.

Write some listicles this weekend!

All the best til next time,

Dee

Jay did a great training on them. He asked us to do homework, so that was cool for learning.
