You’ve probably heard the advice: to rank on Google, you need to write helpful content. Content that answers the questions of your audience, solves their problems, and provides value. Sounds simple, right?

But there’s a catch: everything has already been said before. No matter what topic you choose, chances are someone else has already covered it. And probably better than you can. So, how can you write helpful content for SEO when you have nothing new to say?

Now, this post is really for Newbies, like myself. It's things I have picked up over the months since starting. So, Here are some tips to help you create original and engaging content that stands out from the crowd.

Tip #1: Find a unique angle

One way to make your content more helpful is to find a unique angle or perspective on your topic. This means looking for gaps, opportunities, or controversies that others have missed or ignored. For example, instead of writing another generic post about “how to make money online”, you could write about “how to make money online without selling your soul” or “how to make money online as a minimalist”. These angles are more specific, more interesting, and more likely to attract attention. A great way to stay ahead of the competition also, is to look for the latest news to come out of your niche. that way your competition will have to try to write it differently to you for a change. I normally use flipboard

Tip #2: Add your personality

Another way to make your content more helpful is to add your personality. This means writing in a way that reflects who you are, what you believe, and how you feel. Don’t be afraid to be yourself, to be honest, and to be funny. People don’t want to read boring, bland, or robotic content. They want to read content that makes them feel something, that connects with them, and that entertains them. For example, instead of writing a dry and factual post about “how to write SEO content”, you could write a witty and sarcastic post about “how to write SEO content when everything has been said before”. Not that this is particularly witty, but you get the idea. obviously you cant be sarcastic or witty for every post. Look at every subject on it's own merits.

Tip #3: Use data and examples

A third way to make your content more helpful is to use data and examples. This means backing up your claims, arguments, and opinions with facts, statistics, and stories. Don’t just tell your readers what to do or what to think. Show them why and how. Data and examples make your content more credible, more convincing, and more useful. For example, instead of writing a vague and generic post about “how to rank on Google”, you could write a detailed and specific post about “how to rank on Google in 2024: 10 data-driven tips and examples”. Your readers will hardly ever click on your citation link. Just the fact that you had the confidence in your stats is enough for the reader to have confidence in you.

Final Thoughts ( Because my wife wants to go Christmas shopping)

Writing helpful content for SEO is not easy, especially when everything has been said before. But it’s not impossible. You can still create original and engaging content that ranks on Google and delights your readers. All you need to do is find a unique angle, add your personality, and use data and examples. Follow these tips, and you’ll be on your way to writing helpful content for SEO that no one else can match.

I agree with being original. I have a hard time doing that without seeming crazy at the same time.

Thankyou. It's stuff you veterans (not age wise), already know. It's things I myself am learning along the yellow brick road.

It is always good to be reminded of these regardless of how long you have been doing this.
All the best for your learning and growing on the road to success.
