Possible success - my posts are starting to rank: some around 3-5 page, but one has made 1st page... BUT only when I use quote marks around the key phrase, which I don't think p

Yes, it will, but it might take some time. If you keep posting good content on a regualr bases, have your site-map in place, ask google to crawl, get traffic, great keywords....and so much more , too much to write here, you will get to the top. Remember that Google is slow-working, so be patience and follow all the training you can find about climbing the ranks. There is a lot of stuff you can do to climb higher and faster on the ranking, good luck

Thank you for your answer Marith. I've found that one of my posts is ranking first page, but only when I used quote marks for the keyphrase - which I don't think people do generally. How do you ask google to crawl?

You need to add Google webmaster tool, google analytic and sitemap, and when all is in place and verified, you can ask google to crawl your page, think 50 times a month, can't remember right now, but you will learn all about this if you follow the training :)

Sounds great - I can see google anaytics towards the end of this module, does webmaster, sitemap and crawl requesting come later in the course?

If you type your questions at the top of the page next to the Black edge with the WA Wealthy Affiliate, a screen will pop up that lists other member's input and similar questions. This is very helpful and can save you time.

yes

Thanks to everyone for your helpful insights. Happy 2015 !!

Hi everyone, I was wondering how long it takes to get ranked (considering the content is good and based on 'low hanging fruit' keywords) in Google, and appear on the first page. Th

"Goodness" isn't really something Google takes into consideration. Sure, they want all content they rank to be good and valuable to the end user, but the algorithm is just a robot. Google ranks things on 3 main criteria: popularity, relevance, and not being "evil".

Popularity - has the most good or high authority links pointing to your site with your main anchor text or a variation in the keyword
Relevance - obviously you want your website to be about the topic you are trying to get ranked for
Not being evil - you basically have to "game" the system to rank in Google well and fast, but you don't have to send crappy or garbage links to your site. If you do it may get ranked quickly, but in the long run Google will eventually penalize your site. What you want to do is send a mixture of private blog network links and social profile/web 2.0 property links to your site since those have high domain/page authority naturally.

Hello Greg. if you have a moment... What are private blog network links and social profile / web 2.0 property links?

web2.0's are accounts like blogger, tumblr, wordpress.com, twitter etc. Having these linking to your money site can help increase your websites authority and trust.

Private blog networks are essentially websites that are in some way connected to your money site. These sites would be owned by you (this is what makes it private) but are under another identity.

A word of warning with PBN's, care needs to be taken because google see's this as "evil" and will slap your site, and all properties you own into oblivion.

I have some questions about this subject and the use of PBN's. Is there some training you can refer to me to help me out?

Sure thing, send me a pm

There is no definitive answer for this question. There are to many variables to consider. To paint an example in an "ideal world" would be unrealistic. i have had an article hit page 2 for long tail keywords within 2 weeks with ZERO back linking. I am yet to hit page 1 but I am not far :)

Thanks, it's good to have an example, even if very variable. Hope you get 1st page soon!

what are long tail keywords?
what is back linking exactly?
