Windows 7 Support is Ending
Now if you are a user of Windows 7, as I am, then this post will be of benefit and interest to you.
Personally, I have loved Windows 7, since I started using it, after the upgrade from Vista
It is on my Office Desk top and has served me well, or at least it did, until around a week ago
When, I noticed that my hard drive space was filling up. I was getting little messages ,which said
Your Hard Drive is Almost Full!Okay, there was no exclamation mark, but I had to keep performing disk cleanup and start using our lap top more, no great hardship, though it uses Windows 10 and that is an absolute nightmare to configure your way around it.
Anyway after getting these highly irritating hard drive full errors, I started doing 'over regular' disk clean up, which seemed to do the job for a while and I even did some manual cleaning
However...That got to a point, where there was no more disk to clean, or so I kept being told
So I jumped ( okay tabbed) Into YouTube and found the answer on how to solve this problem
Watched a couple of videos and applied the education ( Viola!!!) ... It worked
Problem Solved!!!! YeehaaaaThe next morning I went to turn the office desk top on and got greeted with a
Black Page with a warm greeting at the top left hand corner
TFGHT Compressed
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del
I did this a couple of times, with absolutely no joy at all, apart from creating an indentation for Windows 11 on my forhead!!
So it was off the local computer shop with my tower and an explantion of what I had done
No problem said the man, leave it with me and I'll see if I can fix it
Which Windows system are you using, or rather does the tower use?
Bursting with pride and knowledge, I puffed out my Chest and said
Windows 7!!!Oh said the man... You do know that in a few months 7 is not being supported anymore, as everything currently is more compatible with W10
So... if worst things happens, are you happy to have W10 on it
After some careful consideration, a tiny weep, followed by a slap on the back of the head from my wife ( only joking!!) I said, Wellllll, its only an operating system, so yes, cos I use Google as my browser!!
It transpires that for some reason, my PC tower had been backing up the memory and then conveniently storing it under the hard drive where no one, well, except a very bright computer man could find it, which he has and removed it
So, I will be getting my lovely office computer back, complete with W10 and raring to go
I shall miss W7, but hey all good things come to an end

Hey Dave; I am happy that you are on top of the issue. I have windows seven that needs a motherboard I was thinking to buy one soon because so many values are on the hard drive.
I have a window ten desktop and Laptop they do not work well when the Internet is low.
The Desktop does not work at all on low internet. I can get nothing I save in Microsoft words on a low Internet.
Hi Dave,
Glad to hear your computer is back up and and running.
From what i understood Microsoft stopped it's support for Windows 7 almost a year ago. Then came Windows 8 similar to 7 but faster.
I am running Windows 10 and it took a bit of time to get used to. You will now have Cortana which well greet you when you switch your computer on, even ask you what you want to do. You can make this feature voice activated, by recording a message so it will recognize your voice for future reference. Interesting feature but it sucks up your memory. After awhile I just disabled it.
It took me a bit of time to get used to Windows 10 but all in all it is OK.
You too will get used to your new operating system.
One thing I did was purchase a portable 1 TB hard drive which I can plug into any computer via a USB cable.
Wishing you the best,
Michael
Oh, I remember the days of windows 7. I still have a little notebook I bought some years ago. I never upgraded it from windows 7 and used it as a backup on several occasions. I now have 2 laptops. One with windows 8.1 which I love and the other windows 10 which has had problems. I still have my trusty windows 7 notebook in a drawer, just in case lol
I had a similar problem with my old laptop. It had vista on it and I forgot to upgrade it to win10. Long story short: I put Linux on the laptop and I am more than happy with the result. Now I'm using win10 on pc and Linux on the laptop.
Anyways, Linux solves all problems lol :D
I loved windows 7, it always worked so well. Windows 19 has been a nightmare of updates. Each one steals bandwidth, I live rurally where internet is scarce and expensive, about $10 per GB monthly and capped at 20 GB. I have a laptop I am about to say goodbye to. It ran great on window 7, but chokes on 10. I've looked at Linux, not ready to learn all over again. I'm living with Windows 10 because, well, there's no better option.
My desktop is using W7, too. I really don't want to put the effort in to upgrade to W10. :(
What happened to "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"? lol! Upgrading will be on my To Do list this weekend.
Well if I hadn't inadvertently broken my PC and it had tons of space on it then I would have been none the wiser

At least you don't have to deal with Windows 11. I hate it!
No thankfully
