Trouble down our street

Goodness me, what a week.

All I can say is that I am so glad that I was in front with my work last week as progress this week has been like walking in treacle.

Thursday morning of last week started nice and pleasant with a relaxing country drive to the vaccination centre for my Covid booster jab.

By chance I happened to be first in the queue but it wasn’t long before there were a dozen or so folks behind me as we waited for the centre to open. Then along came the proverbial queue jumper. It didn’t work and by the time she had realised that there was no way any of us were letting her in before those of us that had arrived early, there was now another 4 in the queue in front of her.

I sat down at the allotted jab chair and a very pretty young lady introduced herself. I’m Abbie she said and you will be the first real person that I’ve injected. I only finished my training yesterday.

What! Oh well, I’m sure you will do ok. Just get it done.

Oh dear she said, there’s blood everywhere. And from that point on the week went downhill.

I was ok Thursday afternoon but a few hours later I really came off the rails. I had a headache, I was shivering and generally feeling very, very unwell. With some effort I managed to get to bed where I stayed for most of Saturday. Only getting out of bed for a coffee and the odd biscuit. In total I slept for about 18 hours – not bad for an insomniac.

On Sunday morning I made myself go for a walk. The fresh air was good but the legs were weak. With a little effort I got back home, crawled into bed and slept through the afternoon.

A few hours later I awoke to the sound of voices and cars and vans. Poking my head out of the door I saw the street full (and I mean FULL) of police cars. Blue lights flashing, police everywhere, crime scene tape around the lampposts. What the devil is happening.

It turns out that there had been a knife murder at a house just 50 metres away and all of a sudden most of the Somerset police force had descended on our little street.

You can probably guess nowadays that this was drug related, the deceased lady apparently was a major drug dealer in the area. And for next 4 days the road has been cordoned off, there have been search lights on all night, a big generator noisily running 24 hours a day for the temporary offices and comfort facilities the police brought in. And now another couple of hours this morning being questioned about what I might have seen – which was nothing.

Never mind. I’m now back to exactly where I should be on the plan, having put in lots of effort to get in front recently. Had I not made the effort I would now have been behind.

I read a post recently here on WA about the need to make progress when you can and if there is a motto to take away then those words that I read are very appropriate.

Do as much as you can today

because tomorrow has its own plans

Whoever wrote that, thanks – you were spot on.

Take care all

Boy, that saying is spot on! I'm trying hard to get a few posts done ahead so won't have to scramble so much at the last minute. However, am also trying to learn block editor, and that has taken away most of the progress time. There are things that I just haven't figured out yet. At least there won't be any murders on my block because I'm the only resident of this particular block. Nice to be away from it all.

Thanks Fran, yes so important to make progress when we can. I'm learning that over and over again.
keep safe
Bux

Goodness Bux, what a week indeed!! Hope you are fully recovered from your jab now? Hopefully there will be no more events down your street again like there has been this week for a long time.
Take care and I am sure you will be ahead of the game again very soon.

Tracy

Yes Tracy, I need to be up and at it. Still have a big bruise and the police are still all over the place. There is a lot more to this murder than they are telling us. There was a news block the first two days.
Anyway, all is ok with me and I hope you are in top form too.
Keep pushing Tracy, it's there for the taking.
Bux

Glad you are back on track Bux. Goodness it sounds a complex case.
I am doing good thanks and always pushing and taking steps forwards, sometimes slower than others but always forwards.
Hope you have a calmer weekend than last.

Tracy

As long as each step is towards your goal, then who cares how long it takes.

Omg! I couldn't imagine something like that happening close to my home, scary!
Those Covid shots ain't no joke! I don't understand how she made you bleed so much! Even if you are a free bleeder, what in the world did she do? I mean, it is just a shot.

Well, I’ve still got a 4 inch bruise on my arm after a week. It will go, and doesn’t stop me working.
Thanks for asking.
Bux

Sure thing!

Hey Bux, I am happy to hear that you are feeling better again.

When I had my first jab about 6 weeks back, it knocked me for six for a couple of days!

Surprisingly, the second one a couple of weeks ago had very little effect (which I am thankful for as most say the second is worse than the first)!

A knife murder in Wells! I bet that is not a regular occurrence there.

But I love the moral of the story, always get done what you can today as no one knows what tomorrow will bring.

Great to hear you are up and about and charging again my friend!

Take care.

Thanks Nick. Yes full momentum from Thursday morning. The only way is to charge things down.
Give my love to France and keep that beer on ice.
Bux

That's the spirit my friend, I love it!

I should be in the UK right now, but due to certain restrictions I had to postpone until next month at the last minute!

So I am stuck in Switzerland for the week. I will give your love to France when I get back on Sunday (hopefully), and don't worry my friend, that beer is always on ice!

Wow. Glad you're feeling better and life is getting back to normal. Love the quote. I actually put together an article during the week this week, something I don't normally do. But my new niche is a lot easier to write for so I may keep doing that. It will be easier to do today as much as I can.
Paula

Yes Paula, good idea.
Not my words though, some one else on WA but certainly worth remembering.
Dave.
