Being A Self-Motivator.

Good morning everyone and happy Wednesday to all.

One of the things that I have to do when I wake in the morning is to make a choice that it is all about how I motivate myself right then that will determine the direction my day will take.

Being a self-motivator is key to success in your daily business life.

We would all love a top line sports or business coach to motivate us as we get up but that is not going to happen.

Your day is determined by the choice you make in the first few minutes.

One thing I do every morning around 6am is take a 45-minute brisk walk around my neighborhood with my good wife.

This morning however, Nicola is away house sitting so I have had to do this on my own and that means motivating myself.

I have included some photographs from this mornings walk to show the amazing things we have around us and how they can motivate us to make this a great day.

We have so much to be grateful here.

I encourage each of you today that we can make a choice right now to push on and achieve the success you are looking for.

Great post Darren,

I open my eyes after a good night's sleep & give thanks I have been granted another day.

I am refreshed and rise without any thought of staying in bed longer - after all, it is a new day & there is much to be accomplished.

My walk is in the evening when it is cooler here in Bangkok. A lot of my thinking is done whilst out walking & planning my tomorrow.

This is a great thought Darren. So much of what we do comes down to choice. You know that getting up and going for that walk helps to motivate you for the day ahead, it makes you feel good. The alternative is to stay in bed longer, get up later, not feel quite as 'geed' up and generally not feel as good as you would if you'd made the extra effort.
Weighing the two up it does make me wonder why we ever choose the latter.
It does look georgeous where you are though, that's an incentive, for sure.

I have tried both options and getting up and going for a walk far outweighs staying in bed.
It just sets the day up and is a great way to get motivated.

Funny that you should mention self-motivation (well, not that funny). It's a strange animal don't you think?

On the one hand (my wife and I also walk together first thing in the morning before breakfast) we/I seem to be able to motivate ourselves to get out for a walk but when it comes to motivating myself to do what I need to here, it's a totally different story.

Must work on that more. It's been something I have struggled with for what seems like forever.

I can get out for a 13K walk but this? Seems like the hardest thing to get around.

It is a strange one and something I work on every day.
For me, it comes down to if I don't get going I don't make any money.
After being in business for the past 27 years it has become a real discipline.
Great to see your stats for walking, 13k is impressive.

Admiral William McRaven wrote a book about motivation in the morning, "Make Your Bed". I haven't read it, but apparently it is advice to begin a succession of accomplishments to continue through the day.
