Couple tips for designing a good website
Just thought I would throw up some tips I've learn over the years re designing good website:
1). Simple is best - reason is you want people to read your blog or message. If your got too much distracting them like bizarre colours or tons of photos then its a negative.
2). The less photos/videos the better - this is because the more multimedia stuff you have on your page the slower it will load. People are impatient these days and want things to load fast and efficiently. Also make sure the photos/videos you do have are sized for the web. (Unless of course your promoting multimedia products)
3). The easier people can get around your site the better. The easier your navigation system ie menus etc the better. People want to be able to see the info they are after within 1 or 2 clicks.
4). Have key information / blog content within the viewable page before they have to scroll down. Try to hook them on the top part of the page before they have to scroll. One reasons why is when people are just browsing they don't tend to scroll down, unless they start reading something that interests them.
If any you have any other tips please feel free to share them here. These are just a few I've thought of, off the top of my head.
Please check out some of the other great tips below as well, especially ones on point 2 and 3

I must say you are so right! I'd rather be able to move around a website quickly. I don' t have time for that!

Wonderful advice! None of us enjoy waiting for websites or pages to load. In fact I have clicked away when I run out of patience. We live in a very fast paced life and your blog is important for us all to remember. Thank you!
