A Little Discouraged Right Now

So, I hope I'm not the only one, but I've been experiencing a major writer's block over the last couple of months. Nothing comes to mind for my theme, and even when I think a topic is somewhat interesting that pertains to my theme, I end up deciding that I don't know enough on the subject to write an adequate post. I hope this writer's depression leaves soon! I don't really feel productive, or feel as if I'm adding anything positive to the community. My coursework has also come to a halt, as I genuinely write posts according to the course directions before I check off the box. Looking for some words of encouragement from my fellow WA members!

Hi Dani,
There is so much to take in here it can become a little overwhelming at times but I find we do have a great support system here!

I find sometimes just taking a break and reading others blogs and just socializing can help get you back to where you need to be.

Im doing all the socializing amongst the bloggers right now because I'm having trouble composing a key-word rich post to complete a set of lessons--this never happens to me when I'm writing my books--just this post, but by doing all this other, it will take my mind off it, and something will come--besides, I don't feel like im under any time pressure or anything! Just hang in there--you'll see--before you know it you will be writing freely!

Howdy Dani and Greetings from the State of Texas. Well, no matter what you decide to do, just hang tough and remember that you are a part of the Number One Blogging Platform on the Planet, Period. We are honored to be here with you and we know, that like many of us, when tough times arrive and they always will, You can go to a bathroom mirror and look that Little Lady in the eyes and tell her the truth. You have an amazing group of people pulling for ya and we need your expert pearls of wisdom. Tell Hubby to hug your neck, look you in the eyes and tell you how special you are.
Bless you guys,
Sam and Deb

Hang in there. It all works out. Think about something that you know you enjoy and others will as well. I can relate to where you are as I went through the exact same block. Don't give up it will come to you when you least expect it to.

Ok. Take a step back, grab a pen and paper, a cup of coffee, a quiet zone - think to yourself:
Why did I choose this niche?
What do I know about this niche?
What words spring to mind for my niche?
What have I seen others blog about in my niche?
What do I say to others about my niche?

Then go to your computer and start putting some of these words into Jaaxy.

If you need inspiration have a look at similar blogs in your niche - inspiration only NOT stealing content. You can write an article about the same topic but differently. Remember that there may be heaps of others in your niche. Sometimes readers will click with them and other times with you. Sometimes they like others writing style but other people like yours.

You are you and that's what you need to bring to the blog. Write how you talk about it to your friends. If you don't know about something or feel you don't know enough to blog about then read up on it and then write about. Bring that research from numerous places into one article - YOURS. Pretend you are writing to your friends to share what you now know.

Sometimes you just need to give it a break and gt distracted with something else. Never hurts to have someone to bounce your ideas against . accountability buddies are awesome.
Good luck hope you get back on track soon

You are far from the only one who has this issue. I left the course for a few months at one point, feeling a little lost. I rejoined and completely redid my certification and started Affiliate Bootcamp. In doing that I realized a few things:

1. This is a learning experience. My first website may not be perfect, but I can revise it as I learn, or create an entirely new one.

2. It's not important what I write, it's important that I write (at least while I'm learning). Not every post is going to be some amazing thing, but I'll learn from it and either go back and change it or start over.

3. My niche is my audience, whether real yet or imagined. It helps me to pretend I'm sitting down with my audience and talking over the topic of my next post. I just write that conversation down and then turn it into a post. Later I might have more ideas about it or learn more about it and I can adapt.

3. If I can't speak to a topic and don't know enough about it, I need to research it or abandon it. If there's something I really want to talk about, I'll take some time and look it up, read about it, and list out any interesting pieces of information. Then I can sit down and have my "conversation" with my audience.

4. By choosing a niche I am personally passionate about and have been involved in a lot in my life, I am constantly inspired and have to keep a list of all the things I'd like to learn or write about that I think my audience would want to know about. I had to adapt the niche of my first website.

I think it's key to have a niche you either want to learn a lot about and really become involved in, or one from which you already have a lot of experience to offer.

At this point, I don't have enough time to write everything I've been inspired to write about recently. So I keep a list of my inspirations and every day I take an item from that list and either research or "have a conversation" and write.

I hope this is helpful or gives you ideas to help you move forward. Whatever you do, just don't give up.

Best,
Jaime

Thanks, Jaime, for the real words of encouragement. I am starting to get discouraged, too, as I originally thought I would have a lot of content within my niche, but am now wondering if I chose the wrong niche. I guess time will tell. Thanks for taking out the time to reply about your experiences! Wishing you success!

What is your niche Dani? Is it something you are familiar with and passionate about or do you have to research each time you write a blog or post?

Hi, Howard. My niche is about stay at home moms who want to save money, which is something my friends are always telling me I'm good at, as I'm a couponer, and deal hunter, but lately, the pen just hasn't been flowing. I know God will get it back for me, though. Thanks for replying and offering support!

Well Dani, that sounds like something you should be able to write about at great length given your tribe.

Perhaps a brief break, spend time talking with God and time to re-energize yourself and it will come. I would imagine your schedule is hectic and periods of writer's block may come.

In the meantime, do some more keyword research and line up pages and posts for you to develop later. That alone may get you back in gear.

Best wishes!!

Appreciate the help. Thank-you!

Success is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration, isn't it? Why not try writing your article or post first, then research it before you publish it? I know that may seem like putting the cart before the horse, but you have to keep writing.
You might not think you're adding anything here, but discussing your problem makes it much easier for anyone else with the same problem to discuss it here as well Isn't that a positive thing?

Thanks, Frank. Even though I'm frustrated right now, it helps to see people are replying to my little problem and offering encouragement! I appreciate your sincerity!

You might try Kyle's "Alphabet Soup" technique on Google. That might kick up a new idea.
