Can You Earn Income as an Amazon Associate?

Keep in mind that just because you join the top online retail company that you're niche is going to generate commissions if at all. Any results will vary from nothing to cents to dollars. That's why I recommend you do some research about the Amazon Affiliate Program.

Now to answer the question. In short, Yes! How much? That's the million dollar question.

Are You Already an Amazon Associate?

What's your experience? Share your knowledge to help others succeed.

My experience as an Amazon Associate. In short, it was rather challenging to the point that my account got cancelled for lack of sales. I decided to join again but Amazon cancelled my not because of the lack of sales but because of the list pricing posted within my product reviews broke Amazon policy rules. Evendently the price I listed was outdated since their price changed. The prices didn't match so that's why my account got cancelled. Needless to say, I decided to drop Amazon. I didn't renew the account & figured it was time to move on.

Now this was not to say that I didn't have any sales. There were a few sales. I mean were talking cent commissions. Again, after 9 months of being an Amazon Associate with poor results & getting my account closed... I new it was time not to renew the account & drop Amazon.

Who's to blame here? I take part of the blame for the lack of sales but at the same time I would add that Amazon is not an easy platform to generate sales as an affiliate. In part being that Amazon has an overwhelming number of affiliates trying to sell their products. I mean why would anyone want to go through an affiliate website when they can go directly to Amazon to buy the product. In fact a Private Message was sent to me saying the same thing.

When it comes to policy, I don't blame Amazon for cancelling my associate account. I was not aware of the policy rule. I should have paid closer attention to their policy. Do I mind that they cancelled my account? You bet I minded at the time but now it's no big deal.

My results are not indicative of all Amazon Affiliate results. Amazon Associate commissions earnings vary from affiliate to affiliate. I'm not here to promote Amazon but simply to bring awareness About The Amazon Affiliate Program to affiliate marketers who maybe thinking about joining.

I have not heard this before. I guess this shows how naïve I am still in this business as a newbie.

I will let you know in about 3-4 months if I get cancelled. This is just another obstacle in getting this business started.

Who are you using in place of Amazon?

It's not easy but from what I understand affiliates do earn commissions as Amazon Associates. Part of having success on Amazon has to do with choosing the right niche & a popular selling product. For me copper was a tough sale on Amazon. You can be as helpful all you want but if the product isn't selling then in my opinion it's time to try another affiliate program or switching to a different niche all-to-together.

I'm currently searching & testing out other affiliate programs relevant to copper products. You're welcome to check out the website if you like. You can find the website within my profile.

Thank you for your comment & please let us know how Amazon is working out for you. To your success!

My experience with Amazon is positive. I joined prior to their placing a time frame on making commissions. If I had joined more recently, no doubt I would have lost my account after six months. Over the past two years approximately, I have received several commission cheques. I'm sure I could increase commissions if I added more content to my website. However, Amazon products were an addition to the website and not the main purpose, therefore I consider myself fortunate that I earn as much as I do from Amazon.

Thanks for your post Daniel. It is interesting to read the experiences of WA members.

Congrats Valerie on your Amazon success. I have checked out your website & you have the right niche that's popular for selling on Amazon.

Thank for your sharing & I'm happy to hear you're having success!

Thank you very much Daniel.

I'm rather ashamed of my website at present with all those auto Adsense ads within the content. That is a trial, and although they increased commissions I will delete them at the end of this month!

Thanks so much for this info. How do you know whether your affiliate program was cancelled. Do they send you an email? I joined about 6 months ago. Never made any sale. Never received any email. Their banners are still live on my website.
Can't know what is going on.

You're welcome Fondevilla.

You will know when you try to access your Amazon Associate account & you can't access your account. When you try to login but you can't then your account is cancelled. Instead you will see a tiny text message saying something about your account has been cancelled or something to that affect. I believe that text message shows up above that login dialog box. I'm not sure if they send you an email. I think they do but not 100% sure. This is how I realized my account was cancelled.

Thanks for the details. I hear amazon is "mean" with commissions. Many times less than 10%. Have you tried Alibaba group?

No doubt Amazon commissions are too low. If you can combine the right niche with the right product then this will help to increase your earnings. Also, higher priced products will earn you higher commissions.

As far as Alibaba, I've checked them out but have not tried them.
