Too good to be true

There is part of my journey in home business that I am not proud of.
But, I feel like it's important to share, even though I hate admitting it.
There is an old saying that says if something sounds too good to be true, it IS!
Early on when I began building an online business I was pitched something that sounded too good to be true, but I joined anyway. I thought, well, maybe THIS is the big exception to that rule! After all, if the website is a scam, I am sure it wouldn't be allowed on the internet anymore!
I didn't know that a website can be a scam, and still remain online, as silly as that sounds.
I just didn't know.
I'm ashamed to say, I didn't only invest in the website, I recruited and shared it with others.
I even defended it when people would warn that it was an investment fraud, that websites that offer high daily returns always shut down and that it was illegal. But nothing anyone could say would change my mind.
Later I would research Bernie Madoff and learn about the structure of websites like the one I was scammed by, its the same scheme, only Bernie ran it from an office. These websites run the scheme over the internet. And what breaks my heart is there are websites just like it online that trick people every day.
Of course, the criminals behind the website shut it down and ran off with everyone's money and I felt like GARBAGE.
I should have known better. People warned me and I didn't listen.
That was a HUGE low point for me.
If you've read my profile you would know that I have had a successful business online and have worked from home full time since 2012. But, that was in spite of my difficult learning experience. The time and resources I wasted on that could have been used so constructively. But we don't live in regret, we move forward.

Part of my moving forward, even all these years later has been to help other people learn what I wished I was able to learn WITHOUT getting scammed and scamming others.
If something sounds too good to be true IT IS.
I would learn that get rich quick schemes don't build home income, but hard work and dedication do.
Once I learned that, I was able to move forward and build something reliable, something strong for the future, something I could even pass along to my children.
In all of our interactions and perusing online, please be careful, and if there is an opportunity that sounds too good to be true. Well, you know the rest of that sentence.
It was really hard to admit this, honestly. I usually don't talk about it, because it's embarrassing. Its easy to just talk about the VICTORIES and the success!
But if it can spare just 1 person, it's worth it for me to look like an idiot.
If something sounds too good to be true IT IS.
So glad to be a part of the WA family. We can all learn from each other.
You all are AWESOME!!!
Daniel
