Thank you for this video, short and sweet and very encouraging.
You state - "It can be a bit off-putting when you discover that it might take weeks or months before your content actually starts getting ranked and starts getting traffic" and you couldn't be more correct.
This is not a quick process, it takes patience, time, and belief in the system.
This video proves that even the most simple of content, provided it is pertinent and relevant to the keyword can rank and generate traffic.
So a great reminder that provided you are writing quality, relevant content, then it will come. Believe in the process.

This is unbelievable! Thirty years he could have been getting paid if he had an affiliate link in his post. He did all the right things except for adding a link. This is amazing. Thank for sharing this interesting piece of information.

Thinking about it, maybe its the fact that the post doesn't have affiliate links on it that it has ranked number one and is on the first page of google for 30 years?
I believe that google doesnt really like affiliate links in posts or pages on the internet.
A lot of people in Wealthy Affiliate disagree with me because the idea of affiliate marketing is focused on the creator making money rather than creating valuable content for its reader.
If you dont have affiliate links in your posts and it is content only, there is no monitory gain, which I believe is what google favours more rather than a post that has affiliate links on it.

I have 243 posts on one of my websites, none of which have affiliate links on them. Most of the posts have been downrated or completely dropped from the index. It's not affiliate links causing the problem.

Why do we think the post that Dale is showing us has been on the front page of google for so long?
As for your posts dropping off, that is because of the dreaded google update, I have lost a lot of clicks and impressions as well.
Ok, so we know it isnt because of affiliate links, we need to all brainstorm what is keeping that post on the front page and learn from it.

Because that long tail key phrase isn't in Reddit, Medium or any of the other big syndication sites, and no-one is advertising it on Google Adwords, it's stayed there on page 1. What we don't know is how much Google juice (Copyright Jay) is flowing from the other pages on the website that hosts that page. That will be a useful thing to research. 😎
