Fighting the frustration

Just a couple of months ago I unexpectedly lost my job which I had just started in 8 months previously. I left a stable career as a communications professional in the public sector after being recruited into the private sector. The new position just didn’t work out and there I was, 50 years old and looking for a new job, (for the first time in 30 years!) While looking for a new day job, I started thinking about a “safety net”, a self-employment opportunity where I could take charge of my future.

I knew I wanted to create an online business, but had no clue how to go about it. I am a writer at heart but outside of becoming an author, how could I make money online writing about something I love? After a lot of research, during which I discovered hundreds of scams, I came across WA. The concept was simple; create a website, write about baseball, get sports merchandizers to advertise on my website. Sounds great! In reality it takes a lot of hard work.

I started learning for free and after the trial period decided to roll the dice and sign up for a premium membership. After a couple of months I have my website (http://winningjerseys.com), I provide weekly updates and my musings on MLB happenings and continue to work my way through the lessons. I get frustrated every day! I still haven’t figured out the difference between pages and postings, each time I think I have a handle on keyword searches another curve ball gets thrown at me (pun intended) and Word Press is definitely not my friend.

All that being said, I am having a great time writing about baseball and I know if I just keep doing it on a regular basis I will succeed. Yes, some days I have to push myself to sit down and focus, but I know it will be worth it in the end. Why do I know this? Because in my world there are two constants, baseball and my ability to write about it. That is the foundation of my own little online business and no one can take it away from me!

I still haven't found a full-time job (getting close), but in the meantime I am working my way through the WA training, making a lot of new online friends and doing what I love. Those things make any frustrations I have totally worth it.

I believe you are absolutely right that success will be yours because it sounds like you are a very persistent fellow who loves baseball and loves to write and that is an unstoppable combination with a website. All you have to do is continue with the training and you'll be fine.
Good luck.

Hello Curt: Welcome to WA, thanks for the follow. You've joined a great community in which the training is second to none and generosity in helping others is infectious. Do the training and take a small step each day working towards your end goal. With persistent efforts, passion and focus you will eventually be successful. Best wishes to you going forward.

Building a business isn't supposed to be easy Curt but digging in and sticking with it is a must unless you plan to strike out.

Pages and posts

Pages - these are static and you won't have nearly as many of them as posts. A page you may have for instance could be one on the seasons game schedule or the rules of the league and so on.

Post (or blog) - is more dynamic. Not so much in that you will be changing a post after it is published but that you will add many posts/blogs. The post is you journal so to say. Where every time you ad a new entry (the post/blog) your journal gets bigger.

It is a fine idea to categorize and tag posts as well - more frustration - sorry. it will come in time.

Just ask questions when you need to and keep swinging - the homer will come!

ROCK ON!
