Stuff!
So, I've had my site up for about 9 months or so. I have some Amazon links and some Google ads running. I have been posting content as regularly as possible, which probably isn't enough to move quickly to retirement. That's ok with me, I'd rather do it right, even if it takes me longer. I've made about 20 bucks or so, nothing worth getting excited about, especially since I have gotten no payouts yet. LOL.
Is this a bo hoo from me? Go dry your eyes and try again, Johnny? Nope! I had some thinking sessions and thought about some other ways to try to monetize my site...
I now have a WA link stashed away on my about me page, which for some reason seems to have some of the highest traffic on my site! I also found a new affiliate relations place to pander my site to. The company I joined for rejected me, but another was happy to pick me up. :) They offer 10% commissions on all their sales too! Sounds good to me.
I got an idea from a saw part dealer. I needed a new piston and cylinder for one of my saws, and ended up with two sets for the price of one! Not only that but I have a free piston/cylinder kit waiting, I just need to tell him which saw I want it for. That, and write another review of their products. He was happy as a clam with my article!
With that out of the way I thought if he will do that, maybe other companies would too. I need a new pair of boots... So off I went. First I narrowed down the boots I liked, and then started contacting the companies. First company never responded. Next! Second company bounced me around to a few different people and sent me a pair of boots. It took a couple of months of correspondence, but I have a shiny new pair of boots to go beat up now! I still can't really believe it, it's way cool!
With that said, I am also chasing some other companies for products. I don't really care what they send, as long as it's relevant to my niche. I am asking them to send me stuff for review. Give me stuff and I'll give you content! Sounds like a good deal to me! As my traffic increases (which it seems to be doing) it should be a good deal for the companies too. I like it because that content would be new and fresh. I would have access to things that I might not otherwise have access to.
It might not be dollars that I'm making, but I think deals will turn into dollars down the road. Anyways, doesn't everybody like "Free" stuff? Before I start rambling incoherently I'm going to sign off!
Update!
I just had a phone conference with the newest company I have been talking to. They like the direction I am headed with my site and decided to send me some "free" stuff to test out and review! Nailed it!
Update update...
The company has sent me a brand new chainsaw to review! Some other stuff that I will turn into content as well was also included.
One of the interesting things that came of the phone conversation that I forgot to mention was the videos. The company will get the rights to the videos I make concerning their stuff. This sounded different to me, but they told me that I would only send it to them after they were posted to my sites. I still get usage of them, but they get ownership. If they like the videos they will be posted to their company YouTube channel and also used in other marketing avenues for them. They said they will always point to my sites so we both get publicity. Sounds good to me, they have a lot more subscribers than I do! :)

Hi Cass I like your thinking and it's paying off with deals now and for sure dollars before too long. Well done, inspiring. Best wishes. Sue
Thanks! Dollars would be nice. :) I'm having fun with it either way though. Best to you too!
Hey Greg.
Had the CT Scan yesterday. Will see the ENT on July 6th.
Thank you.
Have an MRI on July 2nd for another issue (Psoriatic Arthritis).
All good. Getting prepared.
Hey do me a favour...Cronkito here, could use some support.
You are an awesome individual. See if it can happen.
Kindest sent always,
Paul.
Hi,
Thanks for sharing your story. In time all will happen. Keep up the good work.
Cheers,
Tim
Hey Cronk. You and others are going to be completely 'pissed' at me.
I'm afraid to add a comment, but I'm going to do it.
Boring. This kind of stuff can be on your site.
Sorry man. if I perceived it in the wrong way.
Paul.
Yeah, blogs or posts of this nature are not necessary. Nor are they meaningful (my opinion only). Most people will not get it.
Who is the following intended for?

If you need saw, weed eater, or lawnmower parts or pieces, be sure to look up Weedeaterman and tell him I said "hi!"

Cronk, Idon't get it here but on your site it is probably going to be 'Aces,'
Do what you have to do to make things happen for your family or just follow the guidelines that you are doing great and everything is going to fall in your lap.
Please exempt me if I have been too formal. I actually care,
Ok, thanks. This was not content intended for my site, and I don't see how it would fit with my niche. I intended to share some ideas with the WA community, and to share some of my successes and failures so that others might learn from them. I know it took me 7-8 months to figure out this angle, so maybe I can give someone else a head start.
I can see paragraph 4, the last bit being a bit out of place. No, I'm not promoting him, just thought I'd give him a "shout out" for being a good guy. I have edited it out.
We always seem to have an interesting time communicating, Paul, let's keep it up!
Totally disagree... this is definitely the place to hear about this kind of out-of-the-box thinking.
I'd never thought about doing what Cass is doing until he started talking about it.
If I never happened by his website and he had posted this there, I would have never heard about it from him.
I totally plan on following his example as soon as I'm over a few issues!
Excellent post and info, Cronk!!!
Thanks, Randy! Glad I could share another direction. I know you will have it easier than me too! Your site has some great authority. :)
Getting stuff IS dollars when you think about the money saved by no longer having to buy what you need to replace. You made money; it's just in the reverse way of receiving it. Congratulations!
Absolutely correct! Especially since I don't have any money to get some new shoes and I got some new shoes! LOL.

Hi Cass, that's great, well done and thanks for sharing! :)
You're welcome! Give it a try with your niche. :)
