Don't Flog A Dead Horse : Spend Money When You Profit

I always dump ads that don't make money before they get out of control. I recently found a product that I believed in and decided to run an ad that was getting action but wasn't making profit. Well, I look back at this huge mistake and realize I learned a lesson the hard way again. Just because you believe in something you should not let it eat away at your bottom line.

Now I have seen my ego in action in this manner several times. This will be the last time I flog a dead horse. If an affiliate offer doesn't make money before you have spent as much as you will make from the commission, then for the love of god stop the campaign because you WILL loss money on it.

I lost only 600 dollars this time but the way I see it I could have tested another 20 targets and who knows what profit that could have turned. Most ads don't turn a profit so don't spend more then you should on an ad.

I'm confused, you mean you had to PAY money to run an add on your site?

No most of the adverts that I do have nothing to do with my website

Good advice Brian. Thank goodness you figured it out before it went on any longer. I haven't done paid ads. Not ready to go down that path.

I don't advise just jumping in to advertising gather as much information as you can about it then test the waters. I started advertising affiliate offers years ago and it is a tough game to succeed in. Its allot easier to be a blogger. Sometime I will spend 200-300 dollars testing before you find an offer that will make money. so you see in the beginning if you only have a couple of offers converting it is hard to make a profit. I only test products for one week a month and the rest of the month is all about the converting offers and profit

A newbie question, I didn't know that you had to spend money on ads

I don't advertise for my websites I advertise affiliate offers our websites provide free traffic there is no need to advertise our websites.

It will take months for a new site to rank sometimes so if you want to test the product you are promoting a cheap ad sometimes can tell you if the landing page for your affiliate product will convert. We don't have to waste time going after affiliate offers that don't convert. All offers are not created equal
