Let Go of Your Ego

I have always wanted to write. At least, as far back as I can remember. I would spend my weekends writing stories while my friends played outside. By the time I was in high school, I had a number of teachers be very complimentary about my writing, with one even accusing me of plagiarism because she didn't think it could be the work of a student...

But just because I did reasonably well writing stories, doesn't mean I know the first thing about writing for affiliate marketing. I'm learning that the hard way. I keep wanting to write "my way" but that doesn't always result in the most effective posts. I'm having to adjust to a different way of thinking, of phrasing things, and presenting ideas.

My ego has been a bit of an obstacle because I always used to take pride in my writing, but now I am, in a sense, starting over.

And that's OK. That's what we're here for.

I have been told a couple of times now to "stop resisting and enjoy the process", so that is advice that I am going to share, and try to follow myself.

Don't let your ego get in the way. What you learn here works. Don't try to "make it better" or tailor it to yourself. Once you get things working the way you need to, then you can experiment if you need to, but for now, trust the training.

Best of luck to us all.

Ego is a part of our self it is where we are and when we stand for something and defend it's because it's where we are.

Ego can be transformed when somebody can enlighten us and see things from a new perspective. When we assimilate the newer knowledge we let go of our self, thus we have been changed.

In learning when someone asserts an idea that is because what she/he stands for and we have to convince her/him to influence. By proper explanation, if the person sees the better side surely he will assimilate what we want to inflict.

If anyone seems to be annoying, persistent or importunate it is our privilege to share our ideas that we may become part of the change in him/her.

Ego must be respected but if we are able to change it that is a big accomplishment.

Of course a sense of self is important, and the ability to be oneself is a good thing, but I am speaking in a somewhat more colloquial sense of thinking one's own view is of greater worth than another's.

Self-conceitedness.

You're lucky, Craig! You love writing. I'm just the opposite. I hate writing. Still, daily a have to do quite some writing. E.g. emails to other business partners, letters to thank for a new contract, etc. When it's business and I know about what I have to write, then it's easier. So, I look at my writing for my online business the same way as I do for my offline business: as business
Thanks for sharing, Craig, and thank god for loving writing!

Sound message

That is great advice! I'm the same way with my writing! Even had stuff published in my teen years, so hard not to do things my way, so I get where you're coming from, but if I want to learn the proper way, then I have to give up my way as well, and follow the complete training!! :)

Pretty much. It's a little tough, because we spend so long developing a style that to put it aside seems rather strange.

Thanks for sharing, Craig.

Yes craig. Being teachable is very important here!

good post

Good blog.

You're right my man - HAVE to enjoy the process!
LOVE it. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for commenting!
I think that if you enjoy yourself along the way, it's easier to stick with and absorb the lessons.

Agreed! Great point Craig.

Thanks for sharing this! It is so true sometimes I wish that I am at my goal.. but then I take a second and realize all I have accomplished so much and reached previous goals.
This post and your story makes me realize enjoying the process is the what it is all about. Thank you! :)

I am very happy to hear that. When you go for a drive, you should enjoy the scenery along the way, not just at your destination! This is much the same. Learning should be fun!
