For any of you who don't know about GIFs, they are, according to the Urban Dictionary, "image files that are compressed to reduce transfer time."
(Some of my recent posts notwithstanding!)
The GIF was created by Bob Berry and Steve Wilhite, who say the proper pronunciation is "Jif," like the peanut butter.
In fact, the guys claim that, at some point, one of them said, "Choosy programmers choose GIF," a reference to the peanut butter commercials, where they say "Choosy moms choose Jif."
There are a lot of animated files in this format.
For example, if you were to Google "LION GIFs," you might discover something like this...
If you were to Google "FUNNY BABY GIFs," you might find this...
I Googled "COSMIC RADIO GIFs." Now, my band does not have any GIFs, but that doesn't matter. I guarantee you, whatever you put in there, Google will come up with something!
I'll take John Cusack, as Lloyd Dobbler, in the Cameron Crowe directed, 1989 romantic comedy, "Say Anything." (Wait a minute! Is he moving? They've got some nerve calling that "animation!")
There you go-At least Abe is bobbing his head to the music. Honestly!
So, there you have it...The skinny on GIFs and animation.
If you want to know how to utilize the GIFs, look up my Blog, "Putting Animated GIFs On Blog."
And with the way my mind works, I saw a connection between GIF and TGIF. (You see it, right?) . So I Googled "TGIF GIFs."
So, even though it's now Saturday, let's go ahead and set these puppies free...
Have a great weekend!
