Jump For Joy

It's an odd twist on a Chinese fortune cookie, manufactured in a Twilight Zone-esque corner of San Francisco's China Town, or perhaps an oft told convoluted Confucius joke...

Confucius say: Grocer who stacks detergent on high shelf will have customer jumping for Joy...

As Stevie Ray Vaughn sang in 1983...

"She's my sweet little thing, she's my pride and joy,
She's my sweet little baby, I'm her little lover boy..."

Oh, no, man...You mean that girl "Lucille," washing her car, and driving Cool Hand Luke and the other chain gang prisoners crazy back in '67 was using Joy dish detergent and water in a bucket?

Whatever does the job, right? Yeah.

Truth is, we've liked jumping since we were little kids...

Remember jumping over the sprinkler on a hot summer day?

Jumping in a pile of leaves in the Fall.

Climbing a fence and jumping down on the other side...

And who hasn't jumped on their bed?

But, if you fall off and hit the floor, don't say "Billy did it," 'cause you know what you'll hear from Mom...

"If Billy jumped off a cliff, would you do it too?"

To which, of course, there is no good answer, so don't get yourself in that situation in the first place, kids!

We jump for joy in other ways, too...

I think these gals may have just won the lottery!

"Celebrate good times, come on..." (Kool and the Gang, 1980)

Jumping rope was not only fun as kids, it's great exercise!

There are some extreme jumping sports...

I'll leave these to the kids!

That broken window's going to cost you, buddy!

So many ways to go wrong!

Bungee jumping.

Ski jumping.

Was I ever THAT crazy? "Geronimo..."

Now you're talking! "I got a basketball Jones, I got a basketball Jones, I got a basketball Jones, Oh, baby, Ooh Ooh Ooh." (Cheech and Chong, 1973, with "Tyrone Shoelaces")

Slamma Jamma, baby!

Jumping (diving) into the deep, blue sea ("In Fourteen Hundred and Ninty-Three, Columbus sailed the deep, blue sea." Don't listen to me kids, I'll lead you astray!)

After a refreshing swim in the ocean, you can hang out with your pet roo...A natural jumper!

Jumping can help us avoid danger...

Anybody remember Pitfall, the Activision video game for the Atari 2600, released in 1982? It was second in sales, only bettered by Pac-Man. Lots of jumping and swinging!

Do not try this at home!

Trampolining during an earthquake!

Many great jumpers in the sea...

Check out these dolphins!

Cats are great jumpers...but overly ambitious, at times!

Now that's incredible!

CANNONBALL!

Double Axel?

Acrobat.

Urban acrobat.

Another urban acrobat. These guys are pretty good!

Here's a guy with a great vertical leap!

This bad boy's a pretty good leaper, too.

Looks like real-life Mario and Luigi!

Stunt man.

Some rockers jump.

Remember The Pointer Sisters 1983 hit, "Jump?"

"Jump, jump for my love..."

One of the greatest motorcycle jumpers who ever lived: Evel Knievel (1938-2007).

Jumping Jacks...or is it Jumping Jills?

That's one way to cross a river! (From the 1974 James Bond movie, "The Man With The Golden Gun")

Vaulters really get some air time!

Even gators will surprise you with their leaping ability!

The "Fosbury Flop."

Milennium Falcon, making the jump to hyperspace.

Fonzie, about to "jump the shark!"

Man on Earth jumping vs. Man on the Moon jumping.

That's a whole lot of jumping, and there's plenty more, like BMX biking, skateboarding, and others. I'm sorry if I missed your favorite!

By now, you should be more than ready to "jump in there" and get some work done.

Make it a joyful experience.

I remember the Atari 2600 game Pitfall. And of course PacMan! Played it for hours at a time! To see it in your post Rick, made me Jump For Joy!

Glad you enjoyed it, Eric!

I saw the title of this WA post in my email and I knew immediately it was you, Rick! Great way to start my Monday. Thanks for your fun post!
Sue

Thanks so much, Sue! :)

What a way to start off the day, Rick! I think it should take you up to two hours to do such a post. Thanks.
I really enjoyed it!:))

It was time-consuming, Vera, but I enjoyed doing it. It's almost like making a mini-movie! :))

Yeah, I enjoy it, too. You might remember my "Fallings" post..There's some resemblance...fallings are not things done on purpose, though...:))

More connections. :))

Yeah...:)

Great! Thanks! Where do you get all those gif's?

Thanks, Loes! The main source is GIPHY. :)

Are they copyright free to use?

I wish I could jump again.

Me, too, Rog. Hard on the back!

Great post and variety Rick. Maybe all the jumping can lead to a pogo stick niche!

Who knows, Mike!

And if we added fallings, where would that lead?:)

To the hospital if you are fall risk averse vera! (
