If you are struggling with knowing what content to write, or you haven't any content planned for your blog for the near future, or you are always struggling to blog as frequently as you would like to, then there is a solution to this which I have discovered.

An Editorial Calendar!

Now this sounds like the sort of thing that is only for large blogging or marketing agencies, or newspapers, and that's what I thought.

When I heard the term Editorial Calendar, I thought that this was being too structured for my business, and that I needed something less structure sounding

Then a good friend of mine developed an editorial calendar spreadsheet, . Once I had seen the potential to use the tool for my blogging project I was hooked!

As I am suffering from the pains that I outlined above, and because this is really helping, then I have to tell you guys about what an editorial calendar can do for you.

The template spreadsheet allows you to plan for the whole year, splitting the year into quarters and months, and providing areas where you can plan what topics and themes you want to write about during those periods.

So all your planning is done up front, and all you do is follow the plan! No more trying to get ideas for your next blog post, because you will have already planned a year in advance!

What you need to do is have a search in google for "editorial calendar templates" and you will see a wealth of templates that will help you plan your blog post for the next year for your particular niche.

I really hope this helps you.

Namaste

thanks for the tip

Hi Colin, thanks for your insight. Irv.

Thanks for the tip Colin.

I have used variations of editorial calendars for a long time and I can recommend it. It gives you a great overview and gives you the possibility to not forget anything.
You can adapt the calendar to be more or less complex according to your need.
And you can include a 'note to self' part for all the 'I could write something about that' moments that appear every day.
